Why did the US government come to the conclusion that he had to be fired and that resulted in a very serious threat on the part of Vice President Biden. It doesn’t make any sense and literally we’ve been trying to get from the State Department, we actually have an oversight letter that specifically to ask that question. British PM Theresa May: Pedophiles Should Be Allowed To Adopt

Newly appointed British Prime Minister Theresa May ordered a review on whether pedophiles should be allowed to adopt children in order to “not breach their human rights”.

Helen Reece, a reader in law at the London School of Economics, spurred the then Home Secretary to relax the rules which bans sex offenders from caring for children.

In an article in the respected Child and Family Law Quarterly, Miss Reece suggested that reoffending rates were not high among sex criminals, adding: “despite growing public concern over paedophilia, the numbers of child sex murders are very low.”

A review is currently ongoing into the Vetting and Barring Scheme, introduced following the 2002 Soham murders, amid concerns by ministers that it is too heavy handed.

As well as banning certain offenders, the law currently requires adults coming into regular contact with children other than their own to be screened.

Mrs May ordered the review amid concerns about the vetting of ordinary volunteers such as parents who drive children to football practice and church flower arrangers.

In her article, Miss Reece suggested that the review should also introduce an assumption that sex offenders including child abusers posed no threat once they had served their sentence.

French Judge Arrested for Attempting to Prostitute 12-Year-Old Daughter Online

A 55-year-old judge in the French city of Dijon has been arrested after trying to pimp out his 12-year-old daughter to other men on a “libertine” dating forum website.

The judge is said to have been a member of the website’s community, along with his wife, and went as far as proposing that other adult male members of the community not only have sex with his wife but rape his young daughter as well.

According to investigators, the judge would initially offer various men the option to sleep with his wife and later on would mention his daughter. The messages went on for months but none of the users of the forum accepted the proposal, Le Parisien reports.

Earlier this month, both the 55-year-old and his wife were placed in custody but the wife was released after claiming to have no knowledge of her husband’s activities. She is currently not facing any charges.

In his defence, the judge claimed that the messages were just “fantasies”. He admitted that he had sent the messages in question. The daughter of the couple was also questioned by investigators and claimed she had not been a victim of any kind of sexual assault or abuse.

Prosecutors have charged the 55-year-old with “aggravated corruption of minors” and “offer, even without effect, to a person to commit rape against a minor, sexual assault or corruption of a minor”, which could see a ten-year prison sentence and a fine of up to a million euros.

French Minister of Justice Nicole Belloubet has since suspended the judge from office as well.

The arrest is just the latest revelation of a senior judicial official in Europe in recent weeks.

In Germany, a Hamburg constitutional judge was revealed to have major ties to far-left extremist Antifa groups and the banned terrorist organisation known as the Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK).

In Italy, meanwhile, a WhatsApp chat between two magistrates was leaked showing judges agreeing to attack former Interior Minister Matteo Salvini while privately agreeing his policies were effective.

Polish President Duda says LGBT ideology is worse than Communism

Poland’s President, Andrzej Duda, said that the ideology of the LGBT movement is more harmful than Communism in a speech at a campaign stop yesterday.

President Duda, who is from the Right-wing populist Law and Justice Party (Pis), is running for reelection in Poland’s national elections to be held on June 28. They were originally scheduled for May 10 but were postponed due to the Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Law and Justice has made opposing the LGBT movement one of the cornerstones of its platform and it has become a keynote theme of the election as well. More than 80 regions in Poland, with PiS’ blessing, have declared themselves “free of LGBT ideology” since last year. The declarations began following Warsaw Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski’s announcement of his opposition to the ruling party’s programme and his intention to integrate LGBT ideas into Poland’s state educational curriculum, as previously reported by Voice of Europe.

PiS calls LGBT ideology a foreign import that has no place in Poland and which threatens the country’s traditional social fabric.

Trzaskowski is now one of President Duda’s primary opponents in the 10-way presidential race. He has been calling for greater tolerance of LGBT ideas in Poland and has been condemning PiS for what he regards as divisive rhetoric. “I think anyone who uses this kind of language will pay a political price,” Trzaskowski said on Friday.

“LGBT is not about people, it’s an ideology,” President Duda, 48, said in a campaign stop in Brzeg, southwestern Poland yesterday according to a report by Euronews. He went on to say that his parents’ generation had not struggled to defeat Communism only to now submit to an ideology that “is even more destructive to the human being.”

Duda continued the comparison by explaining that the Communists had maintained their power by indoctrinating young people into their ideology. “Today, there are also attempts to push an ideology on us and our children, but differently,” he said. “It is neo-Bolshevism.”

Just last week, the President had signed a declaration aimed at protecting children from LGBT ideology, and which bans the propagating of LGBT ideology in public institutions. PiS has always emphasised that they do not oppose gays, lesbians, and transsexuals as individuals, but only the political movement based on such ideas.

Many conservative politicians have echoed Duda’s words. “Poland without LGBT is most beautiful,” PiS leader Joachim Brudzinski tweeted on Thursday. Another was forced to end a television interview on Friday when he stated that “LGBT is not people, it’s an ideology.”

Lankford: It’s Time to Remove Confederate Generals Names from Military Bases

Sunday on ABC’s “This Week,” Sen. James Lankford (R-OK) said it was now time to rename military bases after “modern leaders,” and drop the names for Confederate generals.

Stephanopoulos asked, “We’re also seeing now, efforts to rename military bases across the country. The Senate Armed Services Committee voted on that this week.; We have seen leading voices like General David Petraeus saying it’s time to stop having military bases named after Confederate generals like Braxton Bragg. Is it time?”

Lankford said, “I do, actually. I think the right way to do this is to be able to have a study to look where the name came from, to take a serious look at it, and be able to transition. There are a lot of great military leaders around the country that are modern leaders, that we can honor and continue to put names forward.”

He added, “I see it like schools. Every school has a name. You want those children in that school to be able to learn about the person that school is named after. You would have that on a military base as well. So, if you have a military base that is named after someone that actually rebelled against the United States government, then you would want to be able to go back and look at that name. That should be a pretty basic principle.”

Foreigners start petitions to remove “racist” Scandinavian statues

The iconoclasm in US and UK has now spread to Scandinavia, where petitions in Sweden and Norway have called for statues of “racist” historical persons to be taken down.

Lovette Jallow is a Gambian national and BLM activist living in Sweden. She recently said that: “I know the Carl Von Linné statue is shaking”, but added that she wasn’t encouraging anyone to harm the statue, Nyheter Idag reports.

Carl Von Linne was a famous Swedish botanist, zoologist, and physician who formalised binomial nomenclature, the modern system of naming organisms.

Jallow, a foreigner, disapproves of Sweden’s commemoration of Von Linne because he was the first scientist who divided mankind into races. There are statues of him in various cities throughout Sweden. Recently, far-left activists have launched a petition to have one of Von Linne’s statues removed. At present, the petition has 1,566 signatures.

Meanwhile, in Norway, a Moroccan woman living named Yasmin Zannachi has started the petition to take down two statues in Oslo – one of Winston Churchill, and the other of the Norwegian writer Ludvig Holberg, Document Norway reports.

Zannachi says: “Take down the slave trader statues! Among other things, at Solli Square and the National Theater in Oslo, there are statues of Winston Churchill and Ludvig Holberg, respectively, who both invested heavily in the slave trade. It is INCREDIBLE that white men think it was okay to suppress black people until they have degrees in our streets! We expect all the statues to be laid down!”

Zannachi’s petition, which now has over 4,000 signatures, is supported by the youth organization of the Norwegian Greens.

Teodor Bruu, spokesperson for the Norwegian Green Youth says: “We think it is totally obvious that we should not have statues of racists and slave traders in our towns.”

Italy: Chinese Nationals Arrested for Using Illegal Migrant Slave L

Italian authorities have arrested thirteen Chinese nationals who they say were using illegal migrants in slave-like conditions for a business making medical masks.

The Chinese “entrepreneurs” were taken into custody by the Guardia di Finanza in the city of Prato in Tuscany. Police also seized hundreds of thousands of medical masks which were being sold to Tuscan government authorities and handed out free to the public.

At least 90 workers making the masks were found to not have work permits or residency permits and many of the workers in one factory were forced by a Chinese man to work shifts of up to 16 hours a day with no days off and given just ten to fifteen minutes for breaks in which to eat, L’Arno reports.

According to investigations, the workspaces had also been set up as accommodation for the migrants working in them, with one man forced to sleep in one of the toilets of the worksite.

As part of the investigation, 28 business in the textile district of Prato, all manged by Chinese nationals, were searched along with the residences of some employees.

ESTAR, the Tuscany region’s health service body, had ordered 6.7 million medical masks and the main supplier was forced to use contractors who in turn employed the Chinese-run businesses.

Enrico Rossi, president of the Tuscany region, praised the work of investigators and said: “Now, based on the results of the investigation, the Region will evaluate whether to take legal action.”

Maurizio Marchetti, regional head of Silvio Berlusconi’s Forza Italia, reacted differently, slamming the leftist coalition government: “It makes sense that there has been no scruple about assigning a millionaire contract to that parallel Chinese district and to the clandestine production network that the Region would have the task of contrasting as a pocket of illegality that undermines our textile district.”

Illegal migrant labourers have become a major issue in Italy in recent weeks as the leftist government has pushed for a temporary amnesty for the estimated hundreds of thousands of illegals living in the country.

Pro-life groups applauded President Donald Trump’s administration’s clarification Friday that sex discrimination does not include abortion when it comes to health care and coverage.

Under the final rule, the Department of Health and Human Services will return to the government’s interpretation of sex discrimination “according to the plain meaning of the word ‘sex’ as male or female and as determined by biology.”

“HHS respects the dignity of every human being, and as we have shown in our response to the pandemic, we vigorously protect and enforce the civil rights of all to the fullest extent permitted by our laws as passed by Congress,” the agency stated.

Pro-life groups applauded the Trump administration’s clarification Friday that sex discrimination does not include abortion when it comes to health care and coverage.

The Department of Health and Human Services announced in a Friday press release that HHS had finalized a rule clarifying language surrounding sex discrimination implemented by former President Barack Obama’s administration.

“HHS respects the dignity of every human being, and as we have shown in our response to the pandemic, we vigorously protect and enforce the civil rights of all to the fullest extent permitted by our laws as passed by Congress,” said Roger Severino, director of the Office for Civil Rights at HHS. “We are unwavering in our commitment to enforcing civil rights in healthcare.”

In 2016, according to HHS, Obama redefined sex discrimination to include abortion and gender identity — defined as “one’s internal sense of gender, which may be male, female, neither, or a combination of male and female.”

Under the final rule, HHS will return to the government’s interpretation of sex discrimination “according to the plain meaning of the word ‘sex’ as male or female and as determined by biology,” the HHS press release stated. The Obama administration’s 2016 rule “declined to recognize sexual orientation as a protected category under the ACA, and HHS will leave that judgment undisturbed.”

The American Civil Liberties Union has said that it will sue to overturn the rule. Neither the ACLU nor Planned Parenthood responded to requests for comment from the Daily Caller News Foundation.

Farage Says ‘The Book Burning Has Started’ After Library Vows to ‘Decolonise’ Collection

Nigel Farage has warned that the “book-burning has started” following an announcement from a university library that they intend to “decolonize and diversify” their collection of books to appease the Black Lives Matter movement.

On Friday, the Royal Holloway University of London Library said that, in an effort combat “structural racism” in British society, it will be removing certain titles from their collection, apologising for not taking such actions earlier.

“We’ve taken time to reflect on our role in this and recognize that we must do more to combat systemic racism and support our BME [Black and Minority Ethnic] community. With this in mind, we’ve created a reading list of resources to help you understand the struggle against racism,” the Royal Holloway said.

“But we know there is much more we can do. Going forward we will be sharing details on the steps we are taking to decolonize and diversify our collections, make our services more inclusive and tackle racism and discrimination. Now is the time for real and lasting change,” the library added.

In response to the Library’s censorious actions, Nigel Farage said: “The book burning has started. This fanaticism is very dangerous.”

The move by the Royal Holloway Library comes amidst similar calls to purge statues, books, movies, and television programmes that are deemed offensive to modern left-wing sensibilities.

In America, the publicly-funded media organisation National Public Radio (NPR) called on the United States citizenry to start “decolonizing your bookshelf“.

The broadcaster said that “white voices have dominated what has been considered canon for eons,” adding that so-called decolonisation of bookshelves is “about actively resisting and casting aside the colonialist ideas of narrative, storytelling, and literature that have pervaded the American psyche for so long.”

Despite the stated intention of leftist radicals to fight “racism” and “fascism”, the act of book-burning is most commonly associated with Germany under Hitler’s National Socialists.

He continued, “The president and his supporters have had plenty of nasty things to say about these men who have served our country, of course, no need to report them, you have access to Twitter. There is one group of generals, however, that the president is standing firm with, dead, racist losers. More specifically, the Confederate commanders, after whom ten Army bases are currently named. Days ago, the Pentagon said they want to begin a bipartisan conversation about renaming these ten bases, but the president shut it down — he wants to continue to honor them.”

After detailing the backgrounds of some of the Confederate leaders’ bases are named for, Tapper said, “Four of these forts were named in the 1910s, six were named in the 1940s. These bases were not named after the Civil War and an attempt at national reconciliation, they were named in the 20th century as a way of honoring the racist lost cause that the generals fought. The keyword in that phrase, lost. They lost, and rightfully so, their cause was immoral.”

China Continued Buying Venezuelan Oil Despite U.S. Sanctions

Oil shipments from Venezuela to China continued even after the United States tightened the screws on Venezuelan oil exports last August, threatening sanctions on all companies doing business with Nicolas Maduro’s government, Reuters says in a special report, quoting ship-tracking data, PDVSA documents, and oil analysts.

According to Reuters’ findings, even after the U.S. increased the sanctions pressure on Venezuela, crude oil from the Latin American country continued to flow into China via the Switzerland-based unit of Russian oil giant Rosneft and after ship-to-ship transfers of the crude to conceal that its place of origin was Venezuela, Reuters has found.

Between July and December, 18 tankers carried a total of 19.7 million barrels of rebranded Venezuelan crude oil to Chinese ports, Reuters found.

After the new U.S. sanctions in August, China National Petroleum Corporation (CNPC) – one of PDVSA’s top buyers of crude oil even after the initial rounds of sanctions on Venezuela took hold — canceled loading plans for Venezuelan oil, after the Trump Administration targeted companies – even foreign ones – doing business with PDVSA, threatening to seize their assets in the United States if they have any.

Shipments of oil from Venezuela to China have continued into this year, too, according to Reuters’ findings.

Earlier this year, the United States slapped sanctions on Rosneft’s Switzerland-based trading arm as part of its attempts to cut off all revenue streams to Nicolas Maduro’s government in Caracas. The U.S. has signaled that it is ready to tighten even more the noose around the Venezuelan government.

Responding to a Reuters request to comment on the findings about Chinese imports of Venezuelan oil, Rosneft said it had done business in compliance with international legislation.

The U.S. State Department’s Special Representative for Venezuela, Elliott Abrams, told Reuters that the Trump Administration would be taking individual actions with respect to ship-to-ship transfers and that sanctions against Chinese buyers of Venezuelan crude after transshipment were “on the table.”

Seattle man, 70, receives a $1.1MILLION hospital bill for coronavirus treatment featuring nearly 3,000 itemized charges - and he feels 'guilty' that taxpayers will pick up the cost

A Seattle man who spent two months in hospital battling COVID-19 has been billed $1.12 million for his treatment.

Michael Flor, 70, was admitted to Swedish Medical Center in Issaquah on March 4 after testing positive for the coronavirus. He spent 62 days in the facility, before making a miraculous recovery.

After his release on May 6, Flor thought the harrowing experience was behind him - until he was hit with the 181-page bill.

'I opened it and said 'Holy s**t!' ' Flor told The Seattle Times Saturday.

The bill features nearly 3,000 itemized charges, which evens out to around 50 for each day of his stay.

In total, he was billed $408,912 for 42 days spent in an intensive care room equipped with a special isolation chamber and $82,215 for ventilator use that lasted 29 days.

Until last Friday, Aleksander Katai played professional soccer for the Los Angeles Galaxy.

He was fired for something his wife tweeted.

Yet according to this supposedly ultra-progressive mob, Aleksander Katai is responsible for his wife’s words and actions.

Doesn’t that sound blatantly misogynist and a direct contravention of the mob’s woke mentality?

You would think so. But there is no reason with this mob. And they went after Aleksander Katai with a terrible fury.

The team forced Katai to apologize and disavow his wife’s tweets, saying “This is a mistake from my family, and I take full responsibility. I will ensure that my family and I take the necessary actions to learn, understand, listen and understand the black community.”

But the mob was out for blood. So despite the fact that Katai didn’t even do anything, and he still apologized for his wife’s actions, he was still fired.

Toronto police officer, 9 men charged in human-trafficking investigation involving 16-year-old girl

Toronto police say an officer and nine other men have been charged in a human-trafficking investigation involving an underage girl.

Police say that since November 2019, the force’s human-trafficking team has been investigating the sexual exploitation of a 16-year-old girl in the area of Pape and Cosburn avenues.

Project One Six was launched between March and May in an effort to catch those who had purchased sexual services from the girl, police say.

One of the men was identified as a Toronto police officer.

Const. Peter Roberts, 49, was arrested on March 13. Roberts is charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration from people under 18 years of age.

Police said Roberts has 11 years of service and was working at 51 Division in Toronto. He is currently suspended with pay, according to police. Roberts is scheduled to appear in court on June 24.

Nine other men were also charged with obtaining sexual services for consideration from people under 18 years of age.

One Killed, Another Injured in Shooting-Stabbing Incident at Camp Lejeune

One man was found dead from an apparent gunshot wound early Saturday morning at a North Carolina Marine Corps base, officials announced Saturday afternoon. A second person at the scene is being treated for multiple stab wounds.

Patrol officers at Camp Lejeune responded to a 911 call at an on-base residence at about 4 a.m. where they found the shooting and stabbing victims. The man who'd been shot was found dead. The other man who'd been stabbed was seriously injured, Nat Fahy, a spokesman for the base, said.

There are no other individuals at large who are believed to have been involved in the incident, Fahy told Military.com. The incident occurred in one of the base housing divisions at Camp Lejeune, he said.

Fahy declined to say whether the two men involved were Marines. They were both authorized to be on the base, he said.

The identity of the man killed by the apparent gunshot wound is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The person stabbed was transported to Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune, where he is being treated for his injuries.

No additional details about the stabbing and shooting were immediately available. The incident is under investigation by the Naval Criminal Investigative Service, a Marine Corps news release about the incident states.

Two airmen were killed in a shooting earlier this month at an Air Force base in North Dakota. The family of Airman First Class Natasha Aposhian, a 21 year old shot and killed in her dormitory at about 4:30 on June 1, was a victim of domestic violence, her family told the Grand Forks Herald.

Netanyahu, Gantz, Ashkenazi meet US envoy, amid differences on annexation

Israeli leaders sit down with David Friedman as PM’s planned July 1 start date for unilateral move nears; report says partial annexation or postponement of plan being weighed

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu sat down Sunday with US Ambassador David Friedman, Defense Minister Benny Gantz, Foreign Minister Gabi Ashkenazi and Knesset Speaker Yariv Levin to discuss plans to unilaterally annex parts of the West Bank in accordance with the Trump administration’s peace plan.

Friedman has met with all the senior politicians several times, though this may be the first summit when they are all present together to hash out the subject.

Washington has reportedly been pressuring Netanyahu to only move ahead with the controversial move if Gantz and Ashkenazi agree, lending the step extra legitimacy as representative of an Israeli consensus. Gantz and Ashkenazi both publicly back US President Donald Trump’s “Peace to Prosperity” plan, but have not endorsed Netanyahu’s planned unilateral annexation of territory allocated to Israel under the proposal. Still, Gantz was last week quoted as telling settler leaders, “What’s being offered to you, take. As for the rest, you can deal with it later.”

Channel 12 said several options were being discussed in what it called Sunday’s “fateful” meeting, including partial annexation or postponing the move.

Policymakers and diplomats in Washington are increasingly warning that the Israeli government’s plans to annex parts of the West Bank, backed by the US, would spark a crisis and damage the possibility of a two-state solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

With Netanyahu’s July 1 start date fast approaching, multiple stakeholders in the conflict pleaded with the Trump administration and members of the US Congress last week to oppose Netanyahu’s vow to unilaterally extend Israeli sovereignty to the settlements and the Jordan Valley — the 30% of the West Bank allocated to Israel under the Trump peace plan.

Amazon News: Retailer Facing Scrutiny For Business Practices, States Investigate

E-commerce giant Amazon is being investigated in two states for its handling of third-party sellers on its website. The New York Times reported Friday that state investigators are probing the company in Washington, while the Wall Street Journal reported the same day that California is conducting an investigation into Amazon’s alleged misconduct towards third-party merchants.

These investigations come as the European Union reportedly plans to bring formal antitrust charges against the company on this issue. The European Commission began investigating Amazon’s dual role as both a marketplace operator and seller of its own products in July.

A Journal report in April claimed that Amazon uses data from independent third-party merchants to develop its own products, allowing the e-commerce giant to gain advantages over its competition. Amazon has denied implementing this practice. The company has stated that it follows all laws and said its business accounts for 4% of the U.S. retail market.

A 2016 investigation from ProPublica reported that Amazon uses its shopping algorithms to put its own products ahead of better-priced deals from third-party sellers. Amazon has denied the allegations and claimed that price is not the only factor it uses to determine the best deal for consumers.

The House Judiciary Committee is currently conducting an antitrust investigation into Amazon and other tech companies, to see if they are abusing their power in the marketplace. In May, several members of the Committee asked CEO Jeff Bezos to testify “on a voluntary basis,” but also threatened to subpoena him if he did not decide to take questions from lawmakers.

“It is vital to the Committee, as part of its critical work investigating and understanding competition issues in the digital market, that Amazon respond to these and other critical questions concerning competition issues in digital markets,” the letter said.

Amazon is currently under scrutiny due to its workplace practices amid the coronavirus pandemic. The company said it is spending $800 million on COVID-19 safety precautions and providing personal protective equipment for workers.

Alex Nain Saab Moran – who is wanted by U.S. authorities for laundering hundred of millions of dollars for Venezuela Nicolas Maduro’s regime – was detained in Cabo Verde, Africa on Friday, during a scheduled refueling stop from Iran, said sources familiar with the investigation.

Saab Moran flew into the African nation on a Venezuelan government plane, the sources said. Those sources, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said Justice Department officials have already arrived in Cabo Verde, in an effort to take Saab Moran into custody and extradite him to the United States to face pending charges.

DOJ officials could not be immediately reached for comment.

However, the situation will not be simple, they say, because Saab Moran is considered to be far more valuable than the just the money laundering charges contained in his indictment.

“In fact, he’s an enormous asset for the U.S. with information not only on the Maduro regime” but other nations connected to the regime that are considered serious adversaries of the United States, said the sources.

According to information provided to this reporter, members of Maduro’s government left early Saturday morning for Cabo Verde, Africa to fight off an extradition of Saab Moran to the United States.

Although Saab Moran was born in Columbia, he is a citizen of Venezuela, who also has extremely close ties to Cuba, Russia and Iran, said the sources.

“Saab is the biggest asset to the U.S. in the fight against Maduro’s regime, Hezbollah, Iran and Cuba,” said the source familiar with the investigation. “He absolutely must be extradited to the United States. There can be no games with this at all.”

Secret tapes spark calls for investigation into powerbroker Adem Somyurek

There are mounting calls for factional powerbroker Adem Somyurek to face a police investigation and expulsion from the Labor Party if allegations of branch stacking and illegal conduct are proven.

The Age and 60 Minutes on Sunday night revealed Mr Somyurek, a Victorian cabinet minister, handed over thousands of dollars in secret cash drop-offs and used political advisers to stack branches with fake members in a bid to amass significant political power inside the Australian Labor Party.

Premier Daniel Andrews has said he will not be commenting on the scandal until Monday. But senior figures within the Labor Party were on Sunday night already calling for action.

The Victorian Opposition called on Mr Somyurek and others involved to stand down, pending an anti-corruption and police investigation.

Opposition Leader Michael O'Brien said the scandal was a failure of Premier Daniel Andrews' leadership.

"Tonight's 60 Minutes/The Age story shows the Andrews Labor government is corrupt to the core - working to keep themselves in power rather than working for Victorians," Mr O'Brien said.

"If Labor Ministers and MPs don’t face the full force of the law, Victorians can have no faith in the justice system under Labor."

Former long-serving Labor senator Doug Cameron said the party's National Executive, of which Mr Somyurek is a member, must step in and investigate the allegations.

"There must be an immediate ALP National Executive investigation into these serious allegations of branch stacking, threats against MPs and illegal conduct," Mr Cameron posted on Twitter. "If these allegations are true, decisive action must be taken including expulsion and referral to the police."

Syrian Warplanes Pound ISIS Remnants In Southeast Hama

The Syrian Arab Army (SAA) security operation against ISIS remnants in the southeastern Hama countryside is still ongoing.

On June 14, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights (SOHR) reported intense clashes in the region between pro-government forces and ISIS cells.

“Violent battles erupted, again, between the Islamic State on one hand, and regime forces and its armed forces on the other, at the Hama-Aleppo-Raqqa triangle, from the direction of the eastern Hama desert,” the monitoring group said in a report.

During the clashes, warplanes of the Syrian Arab Air Force provided SAA troops with an air support. A number of airstrikes targeted ISIS terrorists and their equipment near the town of Uqayribat in southeast Hama.

The SAA launched its security operation in southeast Hama earlier this week. The operation was a response to a large attack by ISIS terrorists on army positions there.

The SAA and its allies have been chasing ISIS cells from western Deir Ezzor to southwestern Raqqa, eastern Homs and southeastern Hama for a few months. The group’s remnants are likely struggling to survive, as many of their resources have been depleted.

Mossad head moderating Arab opposition to annexation

Yossi Cohen has been credited with much of the quiet diplomacy between Israel and Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, which led to more public ties between Israel and those countries since 2017.

Mossad Director Yossi Cohen is helping to moderate the opposition of Sunni Arab states to Israeli annexation, Israel’s KAN news reported and The Jerusalem Post confirmed Sunday night.

Though currently Cohen is reaching out to his contacts from Israel, he reportedly could travel to meet with various moderate Sunni Arab leaders in person in the near future.

Cohen has been credited with much of the quiet diplomacy between Israel and Saudi Arabia and other Gulf states, which led to more public ties between Israel and those countries since 2017. The countries still do not hold official diplomatic relations.

The Mossad chief has worked with these states to help combat Iran and radical jihadist terrorism. Israel has offered expertise in fighting terror, cyber and other areas. Cohen succeeded in getting some of those Gulf countries to quietly sell Israel medical supplies at the start of the coronavirus crisis.

In addition, Cohen was key in opening relations between Israel and Sudan.

The Mossad has been important over the decades in clandestine contacts with countries who would not dialogue with Israel publicly. In the 1990s, Mossad chief Shabtai Shavit helped former prime minister Yitzhak Rabin open up relations with Indonesia, among other countries.

Dementia: Negative Thinking Linked with More Rapid Cognitive Decline, Study Indicates

Dementia affects an estimated 54 million people worldwide. There no cure, but reports indicate that approximately a third of dementia cases may be preventable, which is why many researchers have begun to focus on identifying risk factors. This would allow for better personalised interventions that may be able to reduce risk, delay, or even prevent the onset of dementia.

Current research shows that genetics, high blood pressure, and smoking are all risk factors for developing dementia. But a lot of people don’t realise that there is also a relationship between mental ill-health and higher dementia risk too. Studies have shown that depression, anxiety, and post traumatic stress disorder are all linked to a higher risk of developing dementia in older age. Our recent study builds on this research by examining whether a style of thinking that is common to these mental health conditions is associated with indicators of Alzheimer’s disease, the most common type of dementia.

People experiencing mental ill health frequently engage in a style of thinking called “Repetitive Negative Thinking”. This style of thinking involves the tendency to have negative thoughts about the future (worry) or about the past (rumination), and these thoughts can feel uncontrollable.

In 2015, I developed a hypothesis called “Cognitive Debt” which proposed that repetitive negative thinking could be the “active ingredient” common in all these mental health conditions that may help explain the increased dementia risk we observe. Our recently published study tested this hypothesis for the first time. We found that repetitive negative thinking was indeed associated with indicators of Alzheimer’s disease.

Our study looked at 292 older adults aged 55+ from the PREVENT-AD project in Canada. Their cognitive function was assessed, measuring memory, attention, spatial cognition, and language. Of these participants, 113 also had their brain scanned, which allowed researchers to measure deposits of tau and amyloid. A counter-narrative exists. …Consider the proportion of black incarcerated Americans. This proportion is often used to characterize the criminal justice system as anti-black. However, if we use the precise same methodology, we would have to conclude that the criminal justice system is even more anti-male than it is anti-black.

Would we characterize criminal justice as a systemic misandrist conspiracy against innocent American men?

I hope you see that this type of reasoning is flawed, and requires a significant suspension of our rational faculties. Black people are not incarcerated at higher rates than their involvement in violent crime would predict. This fact has been demonstrated multiple times across multiple jurisdictions in multiple countries.

And yet, I see my department uncritically reproducing a narrative that diminishes black agency in favor of a white-centric explanation that appeals to the department's apparent desire to shoulder the 'white man's burden' and to promote a narrative of white guilt.

This is a funny sort of white supremacy.

Even Jewish Americans are incarcerated less than gentile whites. I think it's fair to say that your average white supremacist disapproves of Jews. And yet, these alleged white supremacists incarcerate gentiles at vastly higher rates than Jews.

None of this is addressed in your literature. None of this is explained, beyond hand-waving and ad hominems. "Those are racist dog whistles". "The model minority myth is a white supremacist". "Only fascists talk about black-on-black crime", ad nauseam.

In a move that nobody asked for, Nickelodeon has ‘outed’ cartoon icon SpongeBob SquarePants as gay. Amid the cheering from LGBT cartoon fans, a mass of commentators asked why an anthropomorphic sponge’s sexuality matters.

In a tweet on Sunday “celebrating #Pride with the LGBTQ+ community and their allies,” Nickelodeon included a rainbow-tinted image of SpongeBob SquarePants, before disabling replies. For the seemingly large audience of gay SpongeBob fans, the tweet was proof enough that their beloved sponge was indeed light in the loafers.

The announcement came during Pride Month, a global celebration of all things LGBT. Yet some commentators were shocked, and many asked why on earth a cartoon sponge, whose show is primarily aimed at the under-12s, needs a sexuality at all.

“I watched Spongebob when I was a kid,” one tweeted. “Never once did I consider there was anything sexual about him at all. Why? Because I was a child, watching a children's show, AND HE'S A SPONGE.”
