Donald Trump Hosts ‘Very Emotional’ Private Meeting with Families of People Killed by Police

President Donald Trump met privately with a group of families of Americans killed by law enforcement on Tuesday, which was described afterward as an emotional event.

“It was a very important meeting, a very emotional meeting,” White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany told reporters afterward.

The meeting included family members of Jemel Roberson, Botham Jean, Ahmaud Arbery, Darius Tarver, Michael Dean, Cameron Lamb, and Everett Palmer.

McEnany said that the families shared their personal stories of loss with President Trump during the meeting.

“There were a lot of tears, there was a lot of emotion and the president was devastated,” she said.

McEnany said that Trump personally spoke to her after the meeting, describing the stories as “devastating.”

“He took it deeply personally,” she said. “It was a very productive meeting and a solutions-oriented meeting.”

The families did not attend the president’s signing ceremony of an executive order to address ways to reform the use of force employed by police officers.

Deputy Director of the Office of American Innovation Ja’Ron Smith described it as a “mutual decision.”

“It really wasn’t about doing a photo opportunity,” he told reporters. “We wanted the opportunity to really hear from the families and protect them.”

Smith said he was disappointed that civil rights groups attacked the families for meeting with the president.

“I think it’s really unfortunate that some civil rights groups have even attacked them for coming or are putting out false statements about the interaction there,” Smith said.

Activist Sean King, who was not at the meeting, said on Twitter that the meeting was “contentious,” which a White House official told Breitbart News was false.

Attorney S. Lee Merritt, who attended the meeting, said that complaints of a photo-op with the president were false.

Reports of a photo op with the president or standing with the White House during the EO signing are false,” Merritt wrote on Twitter. “Show me the civil rights leaders who are upset about families making a direct appeal for federal intervention after the murder of their loved one and I’ll show you a clown. Asshole

As Primaries Progress, GOP Aims to Retake House Majority from Nancy Pelosi’s Democrats

The Republican Party is fielding a stronger-than-expected crop of U.S. House candidates as the GOP aims to retake the House majority from Democrats in November.

To do so, Republicans would need to flip a net 17 seats from Democrat control back into Republican hands—and the party feels as though its field is coming together across the country

Shit guise I think they have a chance

There are 30 districts across America that Democrats currently represent that President Donald Trump won in 2016 over Democrat Hillary Rodham Clinton, and with the president at the top of the ticket again in 2020 the GOP feels much more confident about its chances of reclaiming the majority this year than it did at this stage in the 2018 midterm elections a year in which Democrats took back the majority for the first time in eight years.

Primary season is about halfway finished, with a number of key districts already formally selecting GOP nominees to take on those Democrats. In many other places, the field has already narrowed to a likely November candidate—making it much easier for the GOP to focus its efforts not internally but externally against the Democrats.

What follows is the beginning of a broader breakdown of the U.S. House picture as it stands now early in the summer in several of key states for Republicans. More will be forthcoming in future stories.

Michigan Democrats Warn Polls Showing Biden Leading Trump Not Reliable

wow is a Democrat speaking the truth

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-MI) and Gov. Gretchen Whitmer are not sold on the polls that show former Vice President Joe Biden with a growing lead over President Donald Trump.

The Democrats made their remarks at a Michigan Women for Biden event on Monday, the Detroit News reported.

“Some people say, ‘Oh, look at the numbers,'” Dingell said. “I don’t believe these numbers.”

Dingell said given the events of the past few months, a lot can unfold over the next few months leading up to November’s election.

“The world is upside down and not one of us on this phone call would have predicted that the world will be as it is today,” she said.

Dingell said she felt the same way about the polls that favored Hillary Clinton over Trump in 2016.

“Four years ago, many of you on this phone call thought that I was nuts,” Dingell said. “I was in enough communities and heard enough people talking that I was very worried about the outcome of that election.”

Fox News reported on a poll from NBC News and the Wall Street Journal that shows Biden seven points ahead of Trump nationally. A RealClear Politics poll average has Biden up 7.3 points over Trump in Michigan.

Whitmer, who was at one point on the list of Biden’s possible vice presidential picks, agreed with Dingell.

“We don’t want people to get complacent or for people to think showing up in Michigan doesn’t matter,” she said. “I know Joe Biden gets it. I know he’ll be here.”
