Guise, don't be surprised when you see Dem anything channeling donations into ActBlue. ALL of them go through it. It's the conduit for ALL of their donations.
As I understand it from digging on it, some techy Dems got together and created this donation site. It's slick, and has a robust infrastructure. It's the hub for ALL Dem donations, for campaigns, PACs, charities and any organization that shares their values/goals.
This is a huge facilitator when it comes to people donating because they go to one site and can send money to any Dem organization they want to.
ActBlue takes out 3.95% per transaction and is composed of several "pass-through" companies like AB Charities, ActBlue Technology, ActBlue Civic. They just shift the money around to wherever they need it at the time.
The thing is, though, their numbers for the 2020 cycle (Jan 1 2019 to Apr 30 2020) have quadrupled. Supposedly raised over $1.4 billion compared to about $234,000 for WinRed, and they had 43 million donors when WinRed had 4 million.
Something just doesn't add up, but I couldn't find anything that revealed just how they made such an increase. And if you compare that to the total number of people who even voted Dem, that's got to be a huge percentage of them actually donating. The numbers just seem suspicious. Anyone care to keep digging on it?
