NBC News and Google had contradictory messages Tuesday scrambling to address backlash resulting from a report about The Federalist that quickly fell apart.

NBC first claimed that The Federalist had already been demonetized from Google Ads, quoting a Google spokesperson in the process. Shortly after publication, Google disputed the claim, saying that The Federalist had not yet been de-monetized, but was rather given the chance to address issues regarding its comment section.

NBC News then updated the article with a contradictory statement. An on-the-record quote from a Google spokesperson saying “we’ve removed both sites’ ability to monetize with Google” remained as NBC added a note that The Federalist “has three days to remove the violations before the ban goes into effect.”

wtf is this update? No correction, the offending quotes aren’t even removed. Their story now has active contradictions pic.twitter.com/VqFa2TpdoB

NBC even initially kept its lead sentence, despite the new statement from Google contesting the central premise of the article.

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi wants committee leaders in the House to bar any lawmaker who refuses to wear face masks from participating in committee hearings, a source told Fox News Tuesday.

A senior Democratic aide familiar with the issue said the California Democrat is urging these leaders to invoke their authority under Rule 11 to enforce rules of decorum. Her office did not immediately respond to an after-hours call from Fox News.

Pelosi has also asked the Congress’ Office of the Attending Physician to reassess the mask guidance due to the emerging body of evidence that shows its effectiveness in preventing the spread of coronavirus, the source said. The mask requirement is currently only for sustained committee activity in enclosed spaces but the physician has issued guidance to encourage masks.

The New York Times is trying to do a full-on retreat after they were threatened with a lawsuit.

Investigative reporter Sharyl Attkisson is accusing the liberal newspaper of liable about they accused Attkisson of being a "coronavirus doubter".

They were forced to make several corrections in an article they published recently in which they made this claim.

After the article was published, Attkisson and her team of lawyers sent a letter to the New York Times demanding they correct the story or they would be facing a lawsuit.

In the letter, Attkisson’s attorney wrote that the article contained “false and defamatory” statements:

"Through a combination of discrete statements of fact, the defamatory headline, and the juxtaposition of defamatory statements concerning a small group of individuals with whom you have lumped Ms. Attkisson, the article conveys the false and defamatory gist that my client, among other things, lied to her readers and listeners, reported as fact lies that endanger the lives of the public, and otherwise violated the litany of ethical standards by which responsible journalists conduct themselves,” wrote Attkisson’s attorney G. Taylor Wilson of Wade, Grunberg & Wilson, LLC.

The Daily Wire reported some of the examples of how the New York Times lied about what Attkisson said.

“One of Mr. Hannity’s top sources [Ms. Attkisson] selectively picks facts.”

“In the past, she [Ms. Attkisson] has promoted the debunked theory that vaccines cause autism.”

“The facts she has chosen recently to highlight falsely leave the impression that the deaths are not all that significant in number and largely contained to one facility.”

“‘Look at those 30-some-odd deaths – most of them were from Washington State,’ Ms. Attkisson said last week on her podcast, adding that most of those were in an assisted-living facility. ‘The vast majority of those who passed away were from one cluster in the United States – almost none anywhere else.’”

“And yet visitors to Ms. Attkisson’s website this week might have come away confused about the severity of the virus, as there were several ads for high-grade protective masks.”

Attkisson wrote on her website that she “explained that the major authorities on coronavirus – including Dr. Anthony Fauci, the CDC, and the Surgeon General, along with the Times itself – reported the same numbers and asked how readers could be “misled” when she reported the same facts as others; Ryan didn’t respond.
