UPDATE: Judge Rejects Request by Unhinged Liberal Attorney to Shut Down President Trump’s Tulsa Rally on Saturday

Clark Brewster, the Tulsa, Oklahoma attorney representing porn star Stormy Daniels in an appellate court case against President Trump filed a lawsuit this week seeking an injunction against Trump’s Tulsa campaign rally set for Saturday over coronavirus fears.

Brewster, along with Paul DeMuro, are representing clients who are concerned the rally will be a “super spreader event” of the COVID-19 Chinese coronavirus and want court-mandated social distancing, mask rules and other regulations imposed on the rally. Daniels is not a party to this suit.

The rally at Tulsa’s 19,199 seat BOK Center has received over one million ticket requests according to the Trump campaign.

The rally is the first held by Trump since March 2 in Charlotte, North Carolina just before the onset of the pandemic in the United States.

At least 3,000 children fell victim to sex abuse at hands of French Catholic Church

The president of a commission set up to investigate child abuse in the French Catholic Church has revealed that at least 3,000 children have fallen victim to sex abuse by clergy and other church officials.

France’s Catholic bishops set up the independent commission in 2018 to shed light on sexual abuse committed by French clerics after a number of scandals shook the Church in the country.

Its president, Jean-Marc Sauve, said on Wednesday that preliminary figures indicated that some 1,500 clergy and other church officials carried out the abuse over the course of several decades.

Google Demonetizes Zero Hedge

As you may have read on NBC, Google has decided to suspend ad hosting on the "far-right" Zero Hedge (which apparently can be anything from "batshit insane Austrian school blog" to Russian propaganda or framed in any other way that serves the agenda of those who disagree with our views - which apparently these days is a lot of people) along with The Federalist, a decision that would have a materially adverse impact for both websites. The reason presented to us for this decision is far more mundane than what has been disclosed by NBC: we are currently appealing it, and expect to remedy it.

That said, we were surprised by the framing of the suspension by the NBC article, which disturbingly appears to be another attempt at activist targeting of inconvenient media outlets, especially since the core argument presented by the NBC employee is different than what Google actually has said. In fact, half the NBC article just happens to be dead wrong.

The Federalist was never demonetized.

US secretary of state to meet China’s top diplomat in Hawaii amid strained ties

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will meet with Yang Jiechi, China’s top diplomat, on Wednesday in Honolulu, the State Department said. The crucial meeting comes as relations between the two countries have deeply soured since the start of the year.

The talks are scheduled for 9am local time (1900 GMT), according to the agency’s public schedule. As strategic rivalry continues, the world’s top two economies have been recently at loggerheads over China’s move to impose new security legislation on Hong Kong. Pompeo earlier criticized Beijing’s handling of the coronavirus, which originated in China, accusing it of refusing to share information.

Neither side has outlined an agenda for the talks, but diplomats and other sources have said the meeting was requested by Beijing, Reuters reported.

The meeting is expected to take place at Hawaii’s Hickam Air Force base and will be Pompeo’s first known contact with Yang since they spoke by telephone on April 15 to discuss the coronavirus

Democrats Decry Americans Protesting Lockdowns, But They’re All In For Rioting, Looting

Oh, the hypocrisy.

A week ago Monday, Rep. Val Demings, a Florida Democrat rising up in the Joe Biden veepstakes, attended a massive “Healing and Hope” rally, where thousands of maskless protesters were jammed in elbow to elbow. She told her Twitter followers she was there “to speak with our community as America grieves.”

But by Thursday, Demings changed her tune (perhaps signifying that she’s a perfect choice for Biden).

“The president’s plan to hold mass rallies in Florida and elsewhere as we experience a resurgence in COVID cases is irresponsible and selfish,” Demings said.

“Do as I say, not as I do,” is the Democratic mantra.

Demings wasn’t alone in flip-flopping. Other top Democrats cheered on “Black Lives Matter” crowds across the United States, with many attending rallies in honor of George Floyd, a black man who died while in the custody of Minneapolis police. But they were incensed that President Trump was planning campaign rallies.

NYPD to disband plainclothes anti-crime units, reassign 600 cops

The NYPD’s elite anti-crime units — plainclothes teams that focus on gun arrests and stopping violent crimes that have been dogged by accusations of using heavy-handed tactics in brown and black communities — are officially a thing of the past.

The high-risk units — one for each of the city’s 77 police precincts and nine Police Service Areas that cover public housing — will be disbanded and all 600 cops reassigned, the city’s top cop announced Monday.

Police Commissioner Dermot Shea said he personally made the decision to banish the units, which have been responsible for a “disproportionate” number of shootings and misconduct complaints made against the New York Police Department in their decadeslong history.

He called it a “seismic shift” that will have an immediate effect — a change made to ease the friction in police-community relations.

“We must do it in a manner that builds trust between the officers and the community they serve,” he said. “I would consider this in the realm of closing one of the last chapters of stop, question and frisk.”

54 NIH scientists reportedly fired or resigned during espionage probe

The National Institutes of Health said that dozens of scientists have been fired or resigned during the Trump administration’s probe into espionage in US laboratories and universities – and the majority had links to a Chinese institution, according to a report.

Fifty-four scientists lost their jobs as part of an investigation launched in August 2018 into NIH grant recipients’ failure to disclose their ties to foreign governments.

Of those 54, 93 percent received hidden funding from a Communist Chinese institution, Science magazine reported.

Michael Lauer, NIH’s head of extramural research, during a virtual meeting with a senior advisory panel on Friday, said the probe targeted 189 scientists at 87 institutions – 80 percent of whom are Asian males who received Chinese financial backing.

US envoy wants direct meeting with Iran

BEIRUT, LEBANON (10:20 A.M.) – Brian Hook, the U.S. Special Representative for Iran, said on Tuesday that he would like to have a direct meeting with Iranian officials to discuss consular affairs.

The Reuters news agency noted that the term “consular research” is usually used by U.S. diplomats regarding Iran to refer to a possible exchange of prisoners.

“We’d like to have a direct meeting to have a consular dialogue so that we can move faster than we are,” Hook said at an event organized by an Internet research institute.

He added that he had hoped to meet with Iran’s Foreign Minister in Zurich in December, but the Iranians refused.

On June 7, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Abbas Mousavi said: “If conditions exist for the exchange of prisoners, we are ready to release all other detained citizens in America and return them to the country.
