Abe Offers Apology Over Arrest of Ex-Justice Minister Suspected of Vote Buying
MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe on Thursday offered an apology over the arrest of the country's lawmaker and the former minister of justice, Kawai Katsuyuki and his wife, Anri, who are suspected of buying votes during the 2019 election.
"I'm keenly aware of my responsibility," Abe said at a televised press conference, as quoted by Kyodo.
The politicians were arrested on Thursday morning. According to the Kyodo news agency, the investigation launched in the fall of 2019, which prompted Kawai Katsuyuki to leave the justice minister post, revealed that the couple had distributed cash to members of local assemblies in the Hiroshima Prefecture in exchange for securing votes for Kawai Anri, who had run in the upper house election in July 2019.

Massive spying on users of Google’s Chrome shows new security weakness
SAN FRANCISCO: A newly discovered spyware effort attacked users through 32 million downloads of extensions to Google’s market-leading Chrome web browser, researchers at Awake Security told Reuters, highlighting the tech industry’s failure to protect browsers as they are used more for email, payroll and other sensitive functions.
Alphabet Inc’s Google said it removed more than 70 of the malicious add-ons from its official Chrome Web Store after being alerted by the researchers last month.
“When we are alerted of extensions in the Web Store that violate our policies, we take action and use those incidents as training material to improve our automated and manual analyses,” Google spokesman Scott Westover told Reuters.
Most of the free extensions purported to warn users about questionable websites or convert files from one format to another. Instead, they siphoned off browsing history and data that provided credentials for access to internal business tools.

Sick, Twisted and Evil – Six eBay Executives Charged With Disturbing Cyberstalking…
This is so purposefully evil it almost seems unbelievable. If you ever wondered how twisted and deranged a group of Silicon Valley executives could be this might provide some context. This is what happens when Antifa-types get jobs.
Massachusetts DOJ – “Six former employees of eBay, Inc. have been charged with leading a cyberstalking campaign targeting the editor and publisher of a newsletter that eBay executives viewed as critical of the company. The alleged harassment included sending the couple anonymous, threatening messages, disturbing deliveries – including a box of live cockroaches, a funeral wreath and a bloody pig mask – and conducting covert surveillance of the victims.”
Oh, it gets worse. WATCH:

76 days since Biden held a presser
Joe Biden’s current campaign strategy: hide from the press and avoid the campaign trail at all costs.
Here's something weird. It's been 76 days since Joe Biden held a press conference. It was April 2 and he only took 4 questions. Hillary Clinton was talking to us a lot at this point in 2016. And of course Donald Trump ran us ragged with Q&As. https://t.co/GL1tPzsUt8
— David Martosko (@dmartosko) June 17, 2020
The last time Biden held a press conference 76 days ago consisted of 4 questions and lasted less than 15 minutes. The last time Biden took questions in-person following public remarks? March 2.
Why has Biden vanished?
Is it because Biden needs his team to prewrite his answers and load them into his Teleprompter?

Jerry Nadler / Lawfare Planning to Impeach AG Bill Barr?…
In 2018/2019 the roadmap to impeach President Trump was clear; many denied its visibility until it was almost too late. In the past week several moves within DC present a roadmap to impeach AG Bill Barr. Could this be the DC defense against USAO John Durham’s findings surrounding the DC soft-coup effort? You decide.

DOJ releases reforms for Section 230 to crack down on social media companies who arbitrarily censor speech
The DOJ today put out it’s report on Section 230, offering up recommendations to crack down on social media companies and keep them from arbitrarily removing comments they don’t agree with:
DC EXAMINER – The Justice Department issued a report proposing that the laws governing internet companies should be reformed and some immunities should be rolled back to help incentivize internet businesses to be “responsible actors.”
Attorney General William Barr said Wednesday that Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act of 1996 must be updated after nearly two decades.

US senators unveil bill to curb campus spying by China, other countries
The Safeguarding American Innovation Act proposes to strengthen rules to deny visas to foreigners seeking access to technologies related to US national security
It also aims to give the Department of Education authority to punish US schools that fail to properly report gifts received from foreign entities
A bipartisan group of United States senators unveiled legislation on Thursday aimed at protecting research and innovation on US campuses and prevent suspected theft of intellectual property by China and other countries.
The bill comes amid a growing push in Washington to clamp down on spying and intellectual property theft that some Chinese nationals are suspected of engaging in on US university and college campuses.
The “Safeguarding American Innovation Act” proposes to strengthen the US State Department’s authority to deny visas to foreign nationals seeking access to certain sensitive technologies related to US national security and economic security interests.

German payments firm Wirecard shares plunge as auditor finds US$2.1 billion missing
Auditor EY says it could not find sufficient evidence for US$2.1 billion in cash balances on trust accounts
EY’s refusal to sign off for the 2019 accounts provided confirmation of the failings highlighted in a probe by KPMG last month
German payments company Wirecard said that its auditor had refused to sign off on its 2019 accounts, sending its shares plunging 60 per cent lower on Thursday, as it warned the delay could mean billions in loans are called in as early as Friday.
Wirecard said that auditor EY had informed it that sufficient evidence could not be found for €1.9 billion (US$2.1 billion) in cash balances on trust accounts – or around a quarter of its balance sheet total.
There were indications, Wirecard added, that these balances were “spurious” and had been provided “in order to deceive the auditor”.

Merkel gave Antifa supporter 1 million euros for left-wing propaganda
Ever since Donald Trump announced he would designate “Antifa” as a terrorist organization, calls have emerged to pursue the violent far-left mobs and their shadowy backers internationally. Official budget number from the German government show this includes German Chancellor Angela Merkel.
The budget for Angela Merkel’s Chancellery totaled €3.19 billion 2020, of which more than half, €1.82 billion, went to the Chancellor’s Office for Media and Culture. The office was created by Merkel’s forerunner Gerhard Schröder (Social Democrat) in 1998 even though the German constitution explicitly delegates cultural affairs to the states and not the federal government. Despite its apparent unconstitutionality, it now serves as a kind of propaganda ministry for the German Chancellor, with its own world-wide public broadcaster Deutsche Welle (German Wave).
Former US ambassador in Berlin Richard Grenell frequently sparred with Deutsche Welle on Twitter over their pro-Iran and anti-US coverage. Deutsche Welle fired back and called Grenell “Donald Trump’s agitator in Berlin”, a remarkable way for an ally government’s network to treat the US ambassador.
