Interesting interpretations.
Many Christians believe in the Old and the New Testament. That is to say that they believe the Abrahamic covenant is valid and that Jesus is also valid. They do not see the two as contradictory.
Everyone is free to believe what they will.
To put it another way ask yourself who 'killed' Jesus?
If your answer is either the Jewish people and/or the Roman Empire then it is safe to say that you take the bible literally.
If your answer is that we all killed Jesus then you are picking up on the spiritual subtext that some believe and some do not.
