I've worked out in the country. Western Oklahoma is nice (if you want to work at Wal-Mart), Eastern Oklahoma is like Deliverance, the desert is only doable if you get checks from the government or work in the energy sector (and like meth), rural New England looks like a nice place to retire ect. Anyone under 50 though isn't making a life in the boonies, simply isn't going to happen for most people.
