I don't like being prey, to be completely honest.
Or sometimes you get the predator who will steal half your paycheck for making a wrong turn while ignoring a million people in fancy cars going 100mph.
I think it's been in the works for a long time. First they make any interaction with the police as frightening as possible–who knows what law you're breaking at any given time? There are so many that they can bust or shake you down for anything. Then get rid of the police and replace them with something even worse.
I think I can do this one. Ever see a video of someone talking about driving fast cars in Japan, talking about how they'd try to outrun a cop to escape a speeding violation, but they'd never do the same in the US? Over here, they'd put down a spike strip, run you off the road, and then haul your busted ass to jail.

After a point, it's less about law and more a war against the people.
Law and order if you have the money to defend yourself, tyranny if not.
