Friend of mine died back in 2002. He has been posted on FB from old pics. FB autotags him even though he died before FB was a real thing. Autotagging from facial recognition is a real thing. You can type in his name and all of his tagged pictures will show up.
You can turn off autotagging. But this is just public. Privately they still do it. Leaving it on for public only helps train the algorithm. Machine learning. They track everyone. Dead and living.
