The Creator made the Serpent (not "snake")to keep separate the Light from the Darknesssince the Man chose to follow the Lie,KNOWINGLY(muh freewill). God didn't create the first Man as a slave (robot).
However, once that Man chose which side he would follow, he sold all the seed of his loins under an inheritance of slavery to sin (awww, there went muh freewill).
To redeem the heirs of Righteousness, He then promised to bring forth the Seed (Gen. 3:15) to redeem them by crushing the mastery (head) of the Serpent by dying (bruising His heel) in place of the heirs, taking their sins upon Himself.
