Russia’s gold production enjoys year-on-year surge of almost 10% in just ONE MONTH
Gold output in Russia continued to grow, surging by 9.6 percent from January to February compared with the same period of last year, said the country’s Ministry of Finance.
The volume of bullion production amounted to 39.71 tons against the 36.3 tons in 2019.
Production for the period included 31.75 tons of mined gold, the ministry reported. Accompanying mining rose to 2.85 tons, while secondary mining was slightly down to 5.11 tons.
Statistics showed that production of mined silver has also increased during the period to 142.30 tons year-on-year.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) - Iraqi people have a debt before WikiLeaks and its presently jailed founder Julian Assange, for they exposed the atrocities committed by the US troops during the war in Iraq which otherwise would have gone unnoticed, said Sami Ramadani, a scholar and member of the Iraqi Democrats Against Occupation political organisation.
"The Iraqi people owe a great debt to WikiLeaks and to Julian [Assange] for what they did," Ramadani said at a virtual event hosted by the UK-based Don't Extradite Assange campaign against the whistleblower's extradition to the United States.
According to the scholar, it were WikiLeaks' "Collateral Murder" video and pictures released by several US soldiers themselves that played a key role in exposing the war crimes committed by US troops in Iraq. What is no less important, the WikiLeaks video limelighted the question of the US deliberately targeting journalists, both foreign and local Iraqi, who covered the war in an unbiased manner.
"These two journalists who were killed, as we saw in the 'Collateral Murder' video, were symbolic of the tens of other, scores of other journalists who were killed in Iraq trying to do their duty," Ramadani said.

Tennessee legislature passes "heartbeat" abortion bill, Gov. Lee to sign
The Tennessee House and Senate has passed a bill banning abortions in the state after an unborn baby's heartbeat has been detected, which occurs as early as six weeks' gestation. The bill also bans abortions which are "motivated by sex, race, or disability diagnosis of the unborn child."

Egypt calls for U.N. intervention after talks stall on Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam
CAIRO — Egypt appealed to the United Nations Security Council on Friday to intervene in talks over a $4 billion hydroelectric dam being built by Ethiopia on the Blue Nile river.
The request came as tensions continue run high after multiple rounds of talks over decades between Egypt, Ethiopia and Sudan have failed to produce a deal for the filling of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam.
“The Arab Republic of Egypt took this decision in light of the stalled negotiations that took place recently on the Renaissance Dam as a result of Ethiopian stances that are not positive,” the foreign ministry said in a statement.
Talks over the dam were halted once again earlier this week without a deal even though Ethiopia is expected to start filling it next month.
The decade-long dispute exposes competing desires of the two nations. Ethiopia aspires to become a major power exporter, opposed to Egypt’s concern that the dam will significantly reduce its water supply if filled too quickly. Egypt, which is almost entirely dependent on the Nile for its fresh-water, is also concerned about Ethiopia using more water during drought years.
