Austin Protesters Storm Police HQ, Haul Down American, Texas Flags. They Also Burned Them.

This incident happened in Austin, Texas Friday evening.

KXAN TV frames this story with the following headline:

“APD officer says protesters pulled down and burned US, Texas flags”

The video KXAN provides in a tweet in its own story shows the protesters in action. They are massed outside Austin police headquarters. They are chanting “F*** the police!” over and over again. And they lower the Texas flag while cheering. The American flag appears to have been lowered before the recording started.

One of the two photos in the tweet shows the flags burning on the ground. So there’s a bit more here than just “APD officer says…” He provides visual evidence, and someone was broadcasting the events on Facebook live.

Another APD officer provides some description on Facebook.

San Francisco Allows Protesters to Topple U.S. Grant, Francis Scott Key Statues

The cultural revolution claimed yet more defenseless statues Friday night. In San Francisco, about 400 protesters pulled down three statues: U.S. Grant, Francis Scott Key, and St. Junipero Serra.

Protesters in San Francisco on Friday toppled the statue of former President Grant, who led the Union Army during the Civil War, in Golden Gate Park.

San Francisco police said that approximately 400 people gathered around 8 p.m. to take down the statue, though no arrests were made, according to NBC Bay Area.

Also torn down in the park on Friday were the statues of St. Junipero Serra and Francis Scott Key, who wrote the lyrics to “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

We’re well past the point of simply removing Confederate monuments or statues to slaveholders now. U.S. Grant was born into an abolitionist family. He married the daughter of a slave-holding family. That family gifted him a single slave, whom Grant freed while he himself was destitute in 1859. Grant could have sold the slave, whose name was William Jones, for a profit. He chose to set him free instead, well before the Civil War.

Once the Civil War broke out, Grant joined the Union army even while many who he had served alongside earlier in his military career joined the Confederacy. Grant eventually became the Union commander who won the war, thereby ending slavery. Had the Union lost, as practically all Democrats in the South and even many in the North wanted, slavery would have continued. After the war, President Grant put several Black Americans into positions of prominence and defended numerous others across the South as the Democrats and the KKK sought to intimidate them and drive them from office.

As for Key, and as if the complexities of history even mattered any more, he owned slaves but he later freed them. As an attorney, he both represented freedmen and represented owners of runaway slaves. As a witness to war, he penned a song that later became America’s national anthem.

St. Junipero Serra was an early Spanish missionary who later became the first saint to be canonized on U.S. soil, in 1988.

Protesters just in the past few days have toppled or vandalized statues of George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and now Grant and Francis Scott Key. Even Gandhi got vandalized, in the city currently known as Washington, District of Columbia.

Cities could defend these monuments very easily. Some cities, such as San Antonio, Texas, already have and continue to. Statues and monuments are coming down in cities that are choosing not to defend them. Those cities are all run by Democrats.

Exit question: Given the Democratic Party’s heinous racial legacy (the Civil War, Jim Crow, Woodrow Wilson, etc.), why aren’t the protesters going after them?

Black Lives Matter founder admits org's creators are 'trained Marxists,' BLM's goal is to 'get Trump out'

The Black Lives Matter co-founder has a leftist agenda to get President Trump out of office

The Black Lives Matter organization continues to expand and holds more influence now more than ever. BLM, which was originally founded in 2013 in response to the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin, now has a global network of more than 40 chapters.

Black Lives Matter, which was created by Alicia Garza, Opal Tometi, and Patrisse Cullors, has a self-described mission to "build local power to intervene in violence inflicted on Black communities by the state and vigilantes."

"We affirm the lives of Black queer and trans folks, disabled folks, undocumented folks, folks with records, women, and all Black lives along the gender spectrum," the BLM website reads. "We make space for transgender brothers and sisters to participate and lead. We are self-reflexive and do the work required to dismantle cisgender privilege and uplift Black trans folk, especially Black trans women who continue to be disproportionately impacted by trans-antagonistic violence."

BLM goes much farther than only making sure the world knows that "Black lives matter." The organization also focuses on a myriad leftist causes. The BLM website states that the group focuses on "issues concerning racial injustice, police brutality, criminal justice reform, Black immigration, economic injustice, LGBTQIA+ and human rights, environmental injustice, access to healthcare, access to quality education, and voting rights and suppression."

"We engage comrades with the intent to learn about and connect with their contexts," the site states.

Black Lives Matter doesn't specifically note that they are Marxists on its website, but one of the organization's creators admitted that they subscribe to Karl Marx's ideology. In a newly resurfaced video from 2015, Black Lives Matter Global Network co-founder Patrisse Cullors reveals that she and her fellow BLM creators are "trained Marxists."

"Myself and Alicia in particular are trained organizers. We are trained Marxists," Cullors said in the 2015 interview. "We are super-versed on, sort of, ideological theories."

Richard Grenell schools CNN host who tried to corner him over John Bolton's tell-all book

'Of course, it can be both. What are you talking about?'

Richard Grenell, former acting director of national intelligence, schooled CNN host Eric Burnett on Friday, explaining why the publication of John Bolton's forthcoming White House memoir is problematic.

The Justice Department sued to stop the publication of the tell-all book this week, claiming it contained classified national security information. President Donald Trump, however, alleged the book is "full of lies." Burnett challenged Grenell over the president's assertion that the book is both "highly classified" and "fake."

"So, which is it, ambassador?" Burnett asked. "It can't be both."

But, according to Grenell, Bolton's book can contain allegations that are both false and classified.

"Of course, it can be both. What are you talking about? Life is not simple—" Grenell responded.

"There can be a nugget of classified information. There can be something in there that shows sources and methods. It can be talking about things that are classified but then completely gone in another direction, completely made up, completely misused," he explained.

"Life is not so simple that it's either/or," Grenell continued. "You can tell a story that has a nugget of classified information that is a totally erroneous story that goes off on a tangent and gives a false impression."

To press home his point, Grenell pointed out that "CNN reported for a very long time that Kim Jong-un was brain dead." He explained, "The fact of the matter is that was erroneous but had a nugget of classified information in there."

On Saturday, U.S. District Court Judge Royce Lamberth ruled that publication of Bolton's book could move forward, but said the former national security adviser's "unilateral conduct raises grave national security concerns."

Bolton's book, "The Room Where It Happened: A White House Memoir," will be released on Tuesday, June 23.

Google Privacy Breach: France Fines Tech Giant For Violating EU Rules

France’s top administrative court, the Council of State, on Friday upheld an order that requires tech giant Google pay 50 million euros ($56 million) for violating European Union rules on data privacy.

The fine was first imposed in January 2019, after Google was found by French regulator CNIL to be lacking transparency in how it handles personal data. The decision was based on a 2018 European Union data privacy law, the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The law allows regulators to slap fines of up to 4% of global revenue on companies violating European data privacy regulations. In response to the decision, Google then filed an appeal to the Council of State.

The Council of State said Google has used “particularly intrusive” data collection methods. The court said the company “has not provided sufficiently clear and transparent information to users of the Android operating system and has not enabled them to give free and informed consent to the processing of their personal data for the purpose of personalizing advertisements.”

The California-based tech giant has vowed to make changes to help users better “understand and control how their data is used.”

Google is also currently undergoing investigation in Ireland, due to concerns of how the company handles location data of users. Ireland’s Data Protection Commission, based in Dublin, is investigating issues regarding the “legality of Google’s processing of location data and the transparency surrounding that processing,” according to the Commission.

Google said in February that it "will cooperate fully with the office of the Data Protection Commission in its inquiry, and continue to work closely with regulators and consumer associations across Europe."

Google also announced in February it would move user accounts and data of British users from the EU to the U.S. This move would circumvent the GDPR restrictions and allow British law enforcement to better collect user data for criminal investigations.

Why Is Apple Closing Some Of Its Stores Mere Weeks After Reopening?

Mere weeks after reopening over 100 stores, Apple has announced that it will be closing a number of its locations.

Eleven stores in Arizona, Florida, North Carolina, and South Carolina will be closing as of Saturday due to spikes in coronavirus cases in certain communities. The six stores closed in Arizona are the only locations Apple operates in that state.

The specific stores being closed include the following locations: Chandler Fashion Center, Scottsdale Fashion Square, Arrowhead, SanTan Village, Scottsdale Quarter, and La Encantada in Arizona; Waterside Shops and Coconut Point in Florida; Northlake Mall and Southpark in North Carolina; and, Haywood Mall in South Carolina.

“Due to current COVID-19 conditions in some of the communities we serve, we are temporarily closing stores in these areas,” Apple said in a statement. “We take this step with an abundance of caution as we closely monitor the situation and we look forward to having our teams and customers back as soon as possible.”

All of the states affected by these closures have been amongst those seeing a new surge in COVID-19 cases.

Experts suggest that these regions may be seeing a spike in infections due to the fact that they avoided the worst of the virus’s initial spread across the U.S. Florida, in particular, have been singled out as a new potential epicenter for the outbreak.

“These are not decisions we rush into,” Apple senior vice president Deirdre O’Brien explained as stores began to reopen last month. “And a store opening in no way means that we won't take the preventative step of closing it again should local conditions warrant.”

Teens and K-pop fans sabotaged Trump's Tulsa rally by reserving tickets by the hundreds with no intention of attending, Twitter users claim

Social media users are claiming teens and K-pop fans reserved tickets to the rally with no intention of attending

Political strategist Steve Schmidt said his daughter and her friends reserved hundreds of tickets

Twitter users were quick to reply that their children also sabotaged the rally

US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said: '… you just got ROCKED by teens on TikTok who flooded the Trump campaign w/ fake ticket reservations'

There were thousands of empty seats at the 19,000 seat BOK Center

Teens reserved hundreds of tickets for Donald Trump's Tulsa rally on Saturday night with no intention of attending, social media users have claimed.

Political strategist Steve Schmidt tweeted on Saturday night: 'My 16 year old daughter and her friends in Park City Utah have hundreds of tickets. You have been rolled by America's teens.

'@realDonaldTrump you have been failed by your team. You have been deserted by your faithful. No one likes to root for the losing team.'

He then added: 'This is what happened tonight. I'm dead serious when I say this. The teens of America have struck a savage blow against @realDonaldTrump. All across America teens ordered tickets to this event. The fools on the campaign bragged about a million tickets. lol.'

It prompted US Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez to praise the Zoomers and K-pop allies involved in reserving tickets.

The Oklahoma rally was intended to be the largest indoor gathering in the world during the coronavirus pandemic that has killed more than 120,000 Americans, put 40 million more out of work and upended Trump's reelection bid.

Trump's campaign, for its part, declared that it had received over a million ticket requests.

But in the hours before the event, crowds seemed significantly lighter than expected at the 19,000 seat BOK Center. Campaign officials scrapped plans for Trump to first address an overflow space.
