I have never had a life threatening "service job" but at times I have had service jobs where your actual job is to enforce rules that people may or might not like. And the crucial thing about such jobs is knowing that your higher-ups will HAVE YOUR BACK. Luckily, in most of the cases where I've done this, that's been the case. NOBODY should risk their life "on the job" because some virtue-shaming fucktard is playing games. Sometimes courage lies in REFUSING to act.
I've wondered about that myself.
I would expect so, and I hope that at some point they have the courage to tell the tale.
