I don't think he's a plant, I think he's one of those people that just can't shut up. One of those guys that can never admit that he is wrong, and has to put up the facade that he is indeed the smartest person in the room at all time.
I've met plenty of guys like this. Sometimes entertaining, sometimes annoying as hell. This type of personality seeks the entire attention of the individual.
I do understand what you are saying though, he glows pretty hard; but I don't think it's because he's a plant. He's just a hick from the sticks who's got money. He's a good salesman because of his quick wit and quick tongue…but at the same time, this strength is also a weakness especially if a person with this personality is seeking employment. Thusly, it is more than likely that this guy owns his own business.
