Assad has managed to remain the officially recognized government in Syria throughout a civil war that has factions backed by at least 5 different groups. He is not stupid.

Would a rationale person who wanted to stay in power use chemical weapons on territory days after Trump announces he was going to be pulling troops out of Syria?

MSM talking points were put together to preempt this logical analysis. Assad is now "emboldened"โ€ฆthey think we are stupid. Seriously, its become offensive. He's so embolden that he will pull one of the only possible levers to force the US to stay in the conflict?

If the US leaves, Israel has angry Syrians(Russian backed) and Turks on their boarder. The israeli kurdish supported faction is on the opposite side and provides no buffer.

If they need help from the big guns, they will need to rent it from MBS and paying for defense from muslims or merc firms will be neither popular nor cheap.

Israel has a motive to launch a chemical attack to escalate the conflict. Assad does not. Its no surprise how quickly they shot their load to retaliate.
