How to get rid of rogue State and Local officials: THE RECALL OPTION
RECALL = voters can fire them!!!
(Note: recall is not the same thing as impeachment, which is a legal process of “checks and balances” that is driven by politicians. http://www.ncsl.org/research/about-state-legislatures/impeachment.aspx )
How the Recall Process Works
The recall process varies in its details from one state to another, but in general, recall campaigns follow these steps:
-
File an application to circulate a recall petition (some states allow petitions only if they contain certain grounds for recall).
-
Circulate a recall petition and gather a specified number of signatures in a specified period of time (view the detailed petitioning requirements).
-
Submit petitions to election officials for verification of signatures.
-
If enough valid signatures are presented, hold a recall election.
If your state is listed below and you disagree with the way your officials are governing, research the recall option and GET BUSY!
NOT ALL states allow this, but they should. If we vote them in, we should be able to vote them out!!!
If your state is not listed below, use the upcoming elections to vote them out and get the recall option added your state laws!
