Bolton, in interview, says Democrats 'almost as bad and somewhat equivalent to Trump'

Former national security adviser John Bolton warned in an interview airing Sunday night that President Trump's White House poses a "danger for the republic" – but cautioned that congressional Democrats were "almost as bad" in their efforts to unseat him from office, which Bolton called a "partisan catfight."

Speaking to ABC News' Martha Raddatz, Bolton further broadened his attacks beyond just the president, accusing the Defense Department of "obstruction" concerning the administration's response to suspected chemical weapons use in Syria.

The interview aired just days after a federal judge determined that Bolton's decision to publish his upcoming tell-all memoir on the Trump administration had "exposed his country to harm and himself to civil (and potentially criminal) liability," and that Bolton had "likely jeopardized national security by disclosing classified information in violation of his nondisclosure agreement obligations."

"There really isn't any guiding principle that I was able to discern other than what's good for Donald Trump's reelection," Bolton told Raddatz.

He added: "The very first thing that I encountered on my opening day was, of course, the chemical-weapons attack by the Syrian government against innocent civilians in Syria. We responded by the end of the week. But, I have to say, it was a very disappointing process we went through. I felt there was obstruction from the Defense Department."

Specifically, Bolton said, "what we thought we should get from the Defense Department was a series of heavy, medium and light options for the president to choose from. We got, instead, a series of options that were apples and oranges."

New Zealand Unveils Web Safety Ad Featuring Two 'Porn Stars'

A rather unusual New Zealand government online safety video advertisement featuring "porn actors" went viral in the first half of June.

In the ad, the porn stars, named Derek and Sue, greet a mother at her front door and say: "Hiya… your son's been watching us online."

The shocked mother, Sandra, played by comedian Justine Smith, is told by the nude couple that her son just watched them on his laptop, iPad, PlayStation, his phone, her phone, and on a smart TV.

Sue explains: "We usually perform for adults, but your son's just a kid. He might not know how relationships work."

The porn stars tell Sandra she must have a word with her son, Matt, about what was happening in the video, emphasizing hardcore lovemaking is not exactly real life. Sue said, "we just get straight to it" in the videos; Derek admits: "I'd never act like that in real life."

About halfway through the ad, Sandra's son walks in on the conversation and immediately drops a plate, realizing that, the porn stars he was just watching are at his front door.

Sandra then says: "Alright matey, it sounds like it's time to have a talk about the difference between what you see online and real-life relationships. No judgment!"

The video ad is part of a campaign called "Keep it real online," which raises awareness that online porn is not real-life:

"In today's digital world, it's very easy for children to come across pornography. This can happen by accident, as most sites are free and don't require any type of age verification, or intentionally out of curiosity. While children might see porn for the first time by accident, teens are more likely to be seeking it out.

"It's normal for young people to be curious about sex. The best way to support them is to have open, honest conversations about what they might see and how it's different from real sex and relationships," the campaign said on its website.

A recent report found youngsters in New Zealand use porn sites as a tool to learn about sex. At least a third of all porn videos in the country are non-consensual acts.

The campaign has debuted as internet porn activity exploded during months of virus lockdowns around the world. Americans used porn to cope with pandemic stress.

Teddy Roosevelt Statue to be Removed from Museum of Natural History

New York City’s American Museum of Natural History announced Sunday that it will remove a statue of former president Theodore Roosevelt from outside its entrance.

The bronze statue, which has stood outside of the museum entrance since 1940, depicts Roosevelt riding horseback accompanied by a Native American and an African American male. According to the announcement, the move stems from nationwide attacks on confederate statues and protests over the death of George Floyd.

“Over the last few weeks, our museum community has been profoundly moved by the ever-widening movement for racial justice that has emerged after the killing of George Floyd,” the museum’s president, Ellen V. Futter, told the New York Times. “We have watched as the attention of the world and the country has increasingly turned to statues as powerful and hurtful symbols of systemic racism.”

“Simply put,” Futter added, “the time has come to move it.”

The decision to remove the statue was proposed by museum officials and approved by the city of New York, which owns the property and the building.

New York City mayor Bill de Blasio also commented on the issue, saying now is the time to remove the “problematic statue.”

“The American Museum of Natural History has asked to remove the Theodore Roosevelt statue because it explicitly depicts Black and Indigenous people as subjugated and racially inferior,” de Blasio said in a statement. “The City supports the Museum’s request. It is the right decision and the right time to remove this problematic statue.”

As for now, museum officials have not stated where the statue will end up or if anything will be put in its place.

A great-grandson of Roosevelt’s, who shares his name and also serves as a trustee to the museum, released a statement approving of the statue’s removal.

“The world does not need statues, relics of another age, that reflect neither the values of the person they intend to honor nor the values of equality and justice,” said Theodore Roosevelt IV. “The composition of the Equestrian Statue does not reflect Theodore Roosevelt’s legacy. It is time to move the statue and move forward.”

In going along with the museum’s plan to remove the statue, the Roosevelt family received a hall renaming in return. According to Futter, the museum will name its Hall of Biodiversity for Roosevelt “in recognition of his conservation legacy.”

Illegal Alien Gets Two Years in Jail for Returning to U.S. After Killing Four Kids

An illegal alien, deported after killing four American children in a 2008 school bus crash, has been sentenced to two years in prison for returning illegally to the United States.

Olga Marina Franco del Cid, a 35-year-old illegal alien from Guatemala, was sentenced in U.S. District Court in St. Paul, Minnesota, to two years in prison after illegally re-entering the country.

On February 18, 2008, Franco del Cid ran a stop sign and hit a school bus of 28 schoolchildren. Franco del Cid killed 13-year-old Jesse Javens, 12-year-old Reed Stevens, nine-year-old Emilee Olson, and nine-year-old Hunter Javens, and injured another 14.

In October 2008, Franco del Cid was sentenced to just 12 and a half years for the children’s deaths after being found guilty on 24 charges including four counts of criminal vehicular homicide.

By April 2016, Franco del Cid had served only eight years in Minnesota and was set free. Immediately upon release, she was turned over to the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency and deported in May 2016.

Sometime between late 2016 and 2019, ICE officials said Franco del Cid returned to the U.S. and was living less than three hours away from where she had left those four children dead in 2008.

As Breitbart News reported in November 2019, ICE agents arrested Franco del Cid after learning of illegal re-entry to the U.S. through the southern border. Franco del Cid could have received up to 20 years in prison for the illegal re-entry guilty plea.

Trump Details Two Specific Conversations He Had With John Bolton That Made Him Realize He Was A ‘Dumb Maniac’

President Donald Trump told the Daily Caller about a series of conversations he had with former National Security Adviser John Bolton that made him realize Bolton was a “dumb maniac who wants to go to war with any anybody that can breathe.”

Trump, during an hour-long exclusive interview in the Oval Office, said that, despite knowing of Bolton’s hawkish foreign policy, he hired him “to hear both sides.”

“This guy’s a dumb maniac that wants to go to war with any anybody that can breathe,” he continued. “And I like to hear all sides, and I like to hear his side.”

Still, the president said that two conversations Bolton had with him back in 2018 convinced him “Bolton was stupid.”

The first occurred shortly after Bolton’s May 2018 appearance on CBS’ “Face The Nation,” during which Bolton floated using the “Libyan model” on North Korean Leader Kim Jong Un.

TRUMP: He made a serious statement. I said, ‘now what does that mean, the Libyan model?’ To me it means one thing. Gaddafi was taken over by a mob, dumped into a sewer, shot a hundred and twenty-eight times, and pissed on.

DAILY CALLER: After he was shot by a NATO aircraft.

TRUMP: Add that to it.

DAILY CALLER: What precipitated Gaddafi getting grabbed by the mob was NATO shooting him with a drone.

TRUMP: I didn’t know that. Well, add that to it. So, Bolton is on television, and I have a good relationship with Kim Jung Un, and I have a representative, right, saying this. Believe me, it was a very bad statement, that you know they put out a statement right after. I said, ‘maybe they didn’t see it.’ They did. About five minutes later, they put out a very strong statement and then right after that I was with him and said, ‘why did you make that statement?’ He said, ‘I wasn’t referring,’ and I said, ‘there’s only one thing you can refer to.’

The second centered around Bolton’s support for the Iraq War.

De Blasio Offers South Africa-style ‘Truth and Reconciliation Commission’ for NYC

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio said Sunday that New York City would establish a city commission for “Racial Justice and Reconciliation — just like the Truth and Reconciliation Commission in South Africa.”

The South African Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) was established after the end of apartheid in 1994 to investigate human rights abuses by both sides in the decades-long conflict between the white minority government and the liberation movement.

The TRC offered potential amnesty for past human rights abuses to people who were willing to come forward and testify about what they had done, or witnessed. Many people did so, exposing the horrors of years of torture by state security police, or brutal murders ordered by anti-apartheid organizations against rival political groups and suspected informers.

Some in the new African National Congress (ANC) government rejected the idea that human rights abuses committed by the liberation movement could be judged by the same moral standard as those committed by their oppressors. But the TRC, led by Archbishop Desmond Tutu, rejected the idea that there was a separate standard for human rights abuses based on what side of the struggle committed them.

It is not clear what mass killings or political executions were carried out by New York City’s Democrat-run government, nor what the testimony of the “other side” might be.

De Blasio has been accused of discrimination in his treatment of the Jewish community and other religious communities. Last week, he defended welding shut the gates of public parks in Jewish neighborhoods while participating personally — and violating “social distancing” rules — in Black Lives Matter and transgender protests.

NY-based Community Security Service head wants to start training Jews in college

Pointing to Europe, where Jews are involved in their own synagogue security, Evan Bernstein says US Jews shouldn’t only rely on police or guards to keep their institutions safe

JTA — Evan Bernstein has a message for American Jews: The golden age is over. It’s time to protect ourselves. And that starts in college.

Bernstein is the new CEO of the Community Security Service, a New York-based organization that trains volunteers to protect their own synagogues. He believes that American Jews face the most urgent physical threat in generations and US synagogues need to look more like their counterparts in Europe, almost all of which have physical security of some kind guarding the door.

Jews also must begin to think about security from a much younger age, he says.

“We need to be working more with college students,” he said. “If you do look in Europe, whether they’re local or not local, it’s ingrained in the culture that you have to as a young person be involved in your security and that you’re not going to fully rely on law enforcement or private security.”

Bernstein comes to the Community Security Service job at a time when American Jews face the highest recorded levels of anti-Semitism in at least 40 years — and as Americans as a whole are reexamining the role of police in society. He was formerly a vice president at the Anti-Defamation League, which acts as a civil-rights group and advises Jewish institutions on security.
