As well as any other companies that may be affiliated with these companies.

That's half of the equation.

Yes, Zuckerberg has been liquidating for a while.

He pays capital gains on the tax on the profits, and this allows him legally funnel the cash into CZI, where he can do whatever he wants with it.

For instance, donate to whomever he wants.

This keeps it off FB's books, too.

Why?

Because CZI is an LLC and not a non-profit.
