An Oxford University professor who has held a prestigious title since 2014, has been jailed in France for downloaded 28,000 child abuse images.

Theology professor Jan Joosten, 61, has been suspended as Regius Professor of Hebrew - a title that was founded by Henry VIII in the 16th century.

A lengthy investigation by police in Strasbourg uncovered a thousands of images downloaded by Joosten, including depictions of child rape.

The father of four accepted the facts of the case and described his addiction as 'a secret garden, in contradiction with myself,' according to The Guardian.

Belgian-born Joosten is held in high regard by biblical scholars and was recently the editor-in-chief of Vetus Testamentum, a journal studying the Old Testament.

He worked at the University of Strasbourg for 20 years before joining the University of Oxford in 2014.

Oxford university and Christ Church, the college he was affiliated with, issued this statement on Monday: 'We can confirm that, following the conviction in France of Professor Jan Joosten for possession of images and videos of child pornography, he has been suspended by the Faculty of Oriental Studies and Christ Church pending further action.

'The university has informed any staff and students who would have had contact with him and has provided them with the contacts of the welfare and support services, in case that any of them require additional support.

'Christ Church is fully committed to safeguarding and has robust policies and processes in place. Our thoughts are with anyone affected by this news. If anyone requires immediate support, they should contact Christ Church or the police.'

ANSWER: The level of corruption that I believe Bill Gates has funded in health and energy is simply beyond description. But he also controls much of the media right down to the BBC in London, which accepts money from him to cover health. There is NOBODY in the media willing to investigate this consortium. Hadi Government, Southern Separatists Agree To Ceasefire in Yemen

Both sides to meet in Riyadh to discuss implementing 2019 peace deal

The Saudi-led coalition announced on Monday that a ceasefire was agreed to between Yemen’s Saudi-backed government and the UAE-backed Southern Transitional Council (STC). The ceasefire was announced after the STC took control of Socotra, an island off Yemen’s coast. Both parties agreed to meet in Riyadh to work on implementing a peace deal that was negotiated in 2019.

The STC has been a thorn in the side of the US-backed Saudi-led coalition that has been fighting to regain control of north Yemen from the Houthis, so they can reinstate exiled President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The UAE and Saudi Arabia were partners in the coalition when the war started in 2015, but the UAE’s backing of the STC has put a major strain on that relationship. The STC seeks to reestablish South Yemen as a separate country from the north and flies the flag of the former country.

After the STC captured Socotra, Hadi accused Saudi Arabia of betraying Yemen’s government since they did not act to retake the island. The Saudis will likely continue to encourage peace talks since they are having enough of a hard time fighting the Houthis.

Hollywood executive David Guillod is charged with 11 sex crimes, including rape and kidnapping for attacks on four women dating back to 2012

A Hollywood producer and talent manager has been charged with multiple counts of rape, sexual assault and kidnap of four women in California, prosecutors said Monday.

David Guillod, an executive producer on 'Atomic Blonde' and 'Extraction,' is the latest Hollywood mogul to be swept up in the #MeToo movement, which led to Harvey Weinstein's 23-year jail sentence for rape and sexual assault in March.

Guillod surrendered to police Monday morning in Santa Barbara, near Los Angeles, accompanied by his attorney, after a three-year investigation led to him being charged with the rape and sexual assault of four women.

He faces a total of 11 felony charges for the incidents spanning back to 2012, and a maximum sentence of 21 years to life in prison, Santa Barbara prosecutors said.

Guillod, 53, denies all the charges, his lawyer said.

Amid COVID And Riots, New York Aggressively Rolls Out Smart City Tech

Like a skilled magician who gets you to look at his right hand while the left hand is performing the “trick”, New York state is rolling out 500,000 smart streetlights that hook up to the Internet of Things (IoT).

According to Smart Cities Dive,

Streetlights installed will be on Signify’s Interact City software, which enables local leaders to dim and brighten lights remotely, and centrally monitor outages and planned maintenance in real time. That system can then be upgraded to have sensors with features like environmental monitoring and noise detection. [emphasis added]

In an understatement, the article states “Cities are looking at streetlight upgrades as a way to move their smart city visions forward.” More accurately, it should have laid the blame at the feet of Technocrats within those cities.

Pandemics won’t stop them. Riots, looting and tearing down of historical statues won’t stop them. In fact, those things are helping to drive Smart City build-outs like this. In particular, according to the article,

Afghan Govt: Taliban Killed 291 Security Personnel Last Week

Afghan lawyers supervising Taliban prisoner release were killed on Monday, Taliban deny responsibility

Afghanistan’s National Security Council said on Monday that the Taliban carried out 422 attacks in 32 provinces last week, killing 291 Afghan government security personnel. A security council spokesman said last week was the “deadliest of the past 19 years.”

The Taliban denied the figures and said the government was trying to hurt the peace process. “The enemy aims to hurt the peace process and intra-Afghan talks by releasing such false reports,” Zabihullah Mujahid, the Taliban’s spokesman, told AFP. Mujahid said the Taliban did launch attacks last week but claimed they were mostly in “self-defense.”

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani condemned the recent uptick in violence on Monday, which he blamed on the Taliban. Ghani said the violence is “running against the spirit of commitment for peace.”

Another attack occurred on Monday when gunmen opened fire on a car belonging to the Afghan attorney general’s office outside Kabul, killing five people inside.

A spokesman for the attorney general’s office said the victims were prosecutors who were members of the team supervising the release of Taliban prisoners under the US deal. It is not yet clear who carried out the ambush, the Taliban denied responsibility.

The Afghan government has released 3,000 Taliban prisoners, and plan on releasing 2,000 more to fulfill their commitment under the US-Taliban deal. The Taliban have said they are ready for intra-Afghan peace talks after the remaining prisoners are released.

Zalmay Khalilzad, the US special envoy for the Afghanistan talks, took to Twitter to condemn the recent attack and called for further negotiations between the Taliban and the Afghan government. “Both sides should not be deterred, and push forward to take the steps necessary to reach intra-Afghan negotiations,” Khalilzad said.

Utility “Smart” Meters are awful and you probably have them whether you know it or not. Ten of millions of them – electric, gas, and water – have been installed on homes and throughout communities in the U.S. and worldwide.

They are so unpopular (see 1, 2) and problematic and EXPENSIVE (see 1, 2) that many utility companies refer to them by other names to confuse customers. Most (if not all) of the cost for their installation AND replacement have been and continue to be passed onto customers. Proponents – including environmental groups (see 1, 2) – promised they would help customers significantly reduce their energy use and lower their bills. NOPE!!! Because they are 2-way transmitting they actually USE MORE ENERGY to operate than original analog meters which are 1-way transmitting. That additional use is at least sometimes being passed on to customers (see 1, 2). Ridiculously high measurement errors have also been scientifically documented and reported.

From the jump, so many problems and complaints were reported – including fires and explosions (see 1, 2. 3. 4) -that a documentary was produced about these meters in 2013 and then updated in 2017 to include MORE problems and complaints. Nevertheless, an estimated 34.8 million are being shipped out for installation next year. Argh.

Post COVID-19 smart meter shipments to hit 34.8 million units in 2021

According to a new report from the IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, annual shipments of smart energy meters in Europe will reach a record level of 34.8 million units in 2021.

Temporarily postponed meter installations due to COVID-19 are expected to have a slightly negative impact on shipment levels in 2020 and the total number of smart meters installed during the year is anticipated to be 10 percent lower compared to the previous year. Annual smart electricity meter shipments amounted to 20.9 million units in 2019 and the corresponding figure for smart gas meters was 8.5 million units.

Major first-wave rollouts in countries such as France and the Netherlands are expected to be completed according to timelines in the next couple of years while the largely delayed UK rollout is forecasted to ramp up during the same time period. Meanwhile, Italy is now in the late stages of its deployment of smart gas meters as well as in the in the midst of its second-wave rollout of smart electricity meters, contributing with significant volumes in the next few years. With large-scale second-wave rollouts also beginning in Sweden and Finland during 2020–2021, upgrades of first-generation smart electricity metering systems are forecasted to account for 30–35 percent of annual European smart electricity meter shipments during 2020–2024.

Alaa’s relatives were at the attorney general’s office to file a complaint after they were beaten outside Tora Prison.

The family were dragged by their hair and their clothes torn by beltagaya, government hired thugs, as the police looked on and did nothing to help.

His sisters, Mona and Sanaa, and mother Laila Soueif were outside the prison where Alaa is being held, waiting for a letter to be delivered from Alaa.

Britain's coronavirus outbreak is continuing to shrink as two separate batches of data released today suggested only 3,300 to 3,800 people are getting infected each day in England.

Estimates from the King's College London's COVID Symptom Tracker app say the number of people being struck down each day has plunged by a quarter in just a week to 3,391 each day. The researchers — who projected the figure was as high as 11,000 just a month ago — have been collecting reports of symptoms and test results from a million UK citizens since the pandemic began.

And government data from the Office for National Statistics has predicted that around 3,800 people are catching the virus each day across the nation — some 26,900 per week. The estimate is based on testing in a representative sample of almost 25,000 people across England, only 10 of whom swabbed positive.

Neither estimate provides projections for Scotland, Wales or Northern Ireland — but both represent a drop from same set of statistics released last week and show the virus is continuing to fade away in Britain, after terrorizing the nation for months.

The two similar estimates are around five times lower than the projection of Public Health England and Cambridge University experts, who a fortnight ago estimated nearly 17,000 cases a day were occurring across the country.

Department of Health statistics today revealed 1,218 more Brits have been diagnosed with coronavirus — but these figures never show the true scale of the outbreak because many people who catch the virus never swab positive because they don't realise they are sick, couldn't get a test, or the result was wrong.

The number of people who have been diagnosed in total during the UK's epidemic is still unknown. Blood testing data published today by the ONS suggested that only 5.4 per cent of England have had the disease — 3.14million people.

However, this figure was lower than the 6.5 per cent it found in its last estimate because it tested different blood samples (total 1,757) which happened to have a smaller proportion of people who had already been infected, the ONS said.

Big tech’s insatiable appetite, as manifested in this current sprint to further consolidate their assets, is bound to give them even more control over their already substantial access to our data and other digital activities of the population at large. Earlier this year, then Presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren led the call to “Break Them Up,” in reference to the big tech companies, declaring that they had “bulldozed competition, used our private information for profit, and tilted the playing field against everyone else. And in the process, they have hurt small businesses and stifled innovation.” Her plan to “level the playing field,” however, seems to have gone away with her fleeting candidacy.

Nonetheless, they are all gearing up to face an election-year challenge to their growing power as a year-long House Judiciary subcommittee investigation is set to conclude and will more than likely provide plenty of fodder for the antitrust battles looming on the horizon. Some analysts have speculated that the U.S. government could impose fines on companies like Google in the tens of billions for past violations. "Catastrophic Financial Challenges" - 42 Hospitals Closed, Filed For Bankruptcy Due To COVID Pressures

The American Hospital Association (AHA) warns, in a new report, that "hospitals and health systems face catastrophic financial challenges in light of the COVID-19 pandemic."

From soaring COVID-19 costs to canceled services to plunging hospital revenue to purchasing personal protective equipment to reimbursement landscape challenges to decreasing patient volumes, many of these factors have triggered a recent bankruptcy wave and or closures of hospitals across the country.

AHA said the virus pandemic has created a cash crunch for many hospitals. These medical facilities are expected to lose upwards of $200 billion between March 1 and June 30, or about an average of $50.7 billion per month. U.S. nonfederal hospitals are expected to lose approximately $161.4 billion in revenue over the four months, due to canceled services (including nonelective surgeries and outpatient treatment).

To better understand the financial challenges for many hospitals, AHA lists the top financial burdens:

the effect of COVID-19 hospitalizations on hospital costs;

the effect of canceled and forgone services, caused by COVID-19, on hospital revenue;

the additional costs associated with purchasing needed personal protective equipment; and

the costs of the additional support some hospitals are providing to their workers.

AHA said that even though the federal government provided financial assistance to hospitals during the virus outbreak - many facilities had existing financial pressures before 2020.

"Although the federal government moved quickly to provide relief, more help is needed. Critics have argued that hospitals were well funded prior to the COVID-19 public health emergency, however, the reality is that many hospitals were already facing financial pressures. Experts have raised concerns about low payment rates from government payers, which in part led the Congressional Budget Office to project that between 40% and 50% of hospitals could have negative margins by 2025 prior to the pandemic. Congress created a provider relief fund to support health care providers during the pandemic, but this fund is intended to stabilize providers in order to keep their doors open, rather than fully restore compensation to pre-COVID-19 levels. Further, these funds are being distributed to all health care providers with only a portion of these funds going directly to hospitals. Other providers – such as physicians and other clinicians, laboratory and testing facilities, and durable medical equipment providers – are drawing down from health care provider relief funds as well. Hospitals and health systems will need more funds to treat patients, save lives, and get America back on its feet."

Biden doubles lead over Trump to 12 points in national poll

Former Vice President Joe Biden doubled his lead over President Trump to 12 points as voters expressed disapproval with the Trump administration's handling of the coronavirus, racial tensions and the economy, according to the latest Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey released exclusively to The Hill.

Fifty-six percent of likely voters said they would vote for Biden if the election was held today, while 44 percent said they would back Trump, wider than the Democrat's 6-point lead in the same poll last month.

The poll is in line with recent national surveys showing Trump losing ground, including in battleground states that will determine the election, as voters sour on his responses to several crises hitting the country, including most recently the nationwide protests after the police killing of George Floyd.

Forty-three percent of voters said they approved for Trump, down 4 points from the last Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey and the lowest since early 2018. Meanwhile, 57 percent of voters said they disapproved of the president.

“After 11 months of improving ratings, Trump in the last month set back to below 50 percent in his handling of the crisis after the Clorox press conference as he pulled back from the daily briefings,” said Mark Penn, polling director for the Harvard CAPS-Harris Poll survey, referring to the daily briefings Trump used to hold earlier this year and his remarks suggesting people inject disinfectant as a way to treat COVID-19.

“He continues to lag in the national presidential horse race while Biden’s numbers have shown no change up or down," he added, while also noting that "this race is far from over and both candidates have potentially winning scenarios.”

A number of other state and national polls show Biden leading Trump. The RealClearPolitics polling average on Tuesday showed Biden up 9.8 points over Trump.

Meanwhile, polls out of Florida, Arizona, Wisconsin and Michigan also show Biden leading the president, though with narrower margins, raising the prospect the election could tighten with more than four months to go.

Trump has experienced a difficult stretch, including attracting intense scrutiny over comments he has made on the national protests and on controversial historical figures.

Trump Immigration Crackdown: Tech Giants Like Google, Apple, Amazon, Others Slam Executive Order Limiting Visas

President Trump’s expansion of immigration limits has now drawn condemnation from major technology giants, including Google, Tesla, Amazon, Apple and more. The companies have taken issue with the suspension of the L-1 visa, which allows for the transfer of overseas staff, and the H-1B visa, which allows for the hiring of skilled foreign workers in a number of fields.

Trump signed the executive order Monday with the limitations beginning on June 24 and lasting until at least the end of 2020. The Migration Policy Institute estimates that the order will impact around 219,000 immigrant workers.

The response from tech executives was swift.

“Immigration has contributed immensely to America’s economic success, making it a global leader in tech, and also Google the company it is today,” Google CEO Sundar Pichai said on Twitter. “Disappointed by today’s proclamation — we’ll continue to stand with immigrants and work to expand opportunity for all.”

“Like Apple, this nation of immigrants has always found strength in our diversity, and hope in the enduring promise of the American Dream,” Apple’s Tim Cook said in a tweet. “There is no new prosperity without both. Deeply disappointed by this proclamation.”

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki, who is of Polish and Russian-Jewish descent, also highlighted her own family’s history as immigrants.

Police: 41 Shot, 6 Dead in Shootings Across Chicago on Monday

Chicago police officials said that 46 people were shot, leading to six deaths, across Chicago on Monday, coming a day after one of the most violent weekends in recent memory.

Over the weekend, more than 100 people were shot and 14 died across Chicago, officials said.

Police officials said that three women were shot, two fatally, in the most recent fatal shooting in Chicago, according to the Chicago Sun-Times. It was an apparent domestic-related shooting on the South Side.

Earlier Monday morning, a 24-year-old man died at Mt. Sinai Hospital after he was taken to the hospital with a gunshot wound to the chest, officials told the paper. He was later pronounced dead.

Authorities said three other people died after being shot.

Former police officer Anthony Napolitano, a Chicago alderman, said he wants “to see more outrage” over “the hundred-plus people shot in the street and these kids that have been killed” over the weekend, Fox News reported.

Napolitano said the rise in violence can be attributed to people “vilifying” the police in the wake of George Floyd’s death in Minneapolis.

“I come from a police family and a police neighborhood in the city of Chicago. Nobody, not a single person would justify what happened in Minnesota. That was unfortunate. It was the worst that could have happened,” Napolitano said.

North Korea’s Anti-South Korea Campaign

On June 16, North Korea demolished the inter-Korean liaison office in the Kaesong Industrial Complex (KIC) with a dramatic explosion. The North’s move came just one week after severing all inter-Korean communication lines, and three days after Kim Yo Jong warned of “the useless north-south joint liaison office completely collap[sing].”[1] The liaison office, opened in September 2018, was a product of the Panmunjom Declaration adopted at the first Kim-Moon summit. Pyongyang’s physical destruction of this symbolic site was apparently an attempt to make a clean break with the Moon administration.

The demolition was followed by the Korean People’s Army’s (KPA) four-point action plan: redeploying troops to Mt. Kumgang and the KIC; reopening the guard posts along the border; beefing up forces along the border, including the maritime border; and supporting the North Korean people’s scattering of leaflets. If the plan is approved by the party’s Central Military Commission (CMC) and is implemented, it would be a further blow to inter-Korean reconciliation and the Panmunjom Declaration.[2] North Korea’s redeployment of troops to Mt. Kumgang and the KIC would be the first such occurrence since they were transformed into sites of inter-Korean economic cooperation approximately 20 years ago.[3]

Additionally, North Korea has reinstalled approximately 20 loudspeakers as of June 23, according to South Korean military sources. While this was not specifically part of the KPA’s announced four-point plan, the Panmunjom Declaration specifically prohibits the scattering of leaflets and use of loudspeakers along the Military Demarcation Line (MDL). The two Koreas removed their loudspeakers along the border in May 2018 as a follow-up to the first summit between Kim and Moon.

It is unclear how far the North will go to signal its break with South Korea, having left just enough room to de-escalate if and when it sees fit. The rhetoric has already taken a milder tone since the demolition of the liaison office, as it focuses instead on the nuisance of leaflet campaigns. Furthermore, its current propaganda campaign is unlikely to stop with just anti-South Korean actions. Recent North Korean Foreign Ministry statements about the status of US-DPRK relations provide an ominous sign that an anti-US campaign looms likely in the not-so-distant future.[4]

On Monday, Black Lives Matter leader and Bernie Sanders surrogate Shaun King called for the toppling of statues and destruction of stained-glass windows showing “European Jesus,” which he condemned as “white supremacy.” Jenna Ellis, senior legal advisor to the Trump campaign, responded with a full-throated defense of Christianity. King condemned her response as yet another manifestation of “whiteness.”

“Yes, I think the statues of the white European they claim is Jesus should also come down. They are a form of white supremacy. Always have been. In the Bible, when the family of Jesus wanted to hide, and blend in, guess where they went? EGYPT! Not Denmark. Tear them down,” King tweeted.

“Yes. All murals and stained glass windows of white Jesus, and his European mother, and their white friends should also come down. They are a gross form white supremacy. Created as tools of oppression. Racist propaganda. They should all come down,” the leftist added.

King’s attack on Christian symbols is historically ignorant. While the art depicting Jesus may indeed be whiter than Jesus’s true skin color, that has nothing to do with “white supremacy” — pseudoscientific racism undergirding oppression that did not emerge until the early 1500s at the earliest — and everything to do with early Byzantine iconography dating back to the 500s or 600s. This argument seems little more than an excuse to attack Christianity, and Ellis responded accordingly.

“I’m going on record now: If they try to cancel Christianity, if they try to force me to apologize or recant my Faith, I will not bend, I will not waver, I will not break. On Christ the solid Rock I stand. And I’m proud to be an American,” Ellis tweeted.

Least-Restrictive States Have Lower CCP Virus Death Rates; Most-Closed States Have Highest

States with the least restrictions on their citizens’ movements and businesses due to the CCP virus have the lowest death rates on average from the pandemic that prompted a national lockdown beginning in mid-March, according to a new study.

Conversely, the most restrictive states show higher death rates on average from the disease known as COVID-19, which is caused by the CCP virus and originated in late 2019 in China.

South Dakota remains the least restrictive of the 50 states, thanks to Gov. Kristi Noem, a Republican who from the beginning of the crisis has resisted nationwide calls to close businesses and keep individuals in their homes as much as possible.

States began removing restrictions in May, but at widely varying paces.

Wisconsin and Utah are the second- and third-least-restrictive states, followed by South Carolina and North Dakota in fourth and fifth, respectively, in the survey conducted by WalletHub, a personal finance website that regularly conducts data-driven analysis of current issues.

The survey calculated each state’s relative position on 16 separately weighted metrics that include the strictness of mask requirements, travel restrictions, large gathering restrictions, reopening of restaurants and bars, and workplace temperature screening.

South Dakota has the 15th lowest death rate, while Wisconsin is 24th, Utah is 12th, South Carolina is 23rd, and North Dakota is 14th, for an average of 17.6.

Biden Voted to Protect Segregated Private Schools’ Tax-Exempt Status

Joe Biden voted to allow racially segregated private schools to keep their tax exempt status in the late '70s, a stance that put him at odds with the Carter administration and drew criticism from civil rights groups at the time.

Biden was among 54 senators who voted in 1979 to keep the "Dornan rider"—a provision that barred the IRS from revoking the tax-exempt status of segregated private schools, sometimes called "white flight academies," that had appeared in the wake of the Supreme Court's 1954 ruling integrating public schools.

Biden's vote is one of multiple instances in which the then-senator actively opposed federal school desegregation efforts in the 1970s and 1980s, a position that has raised problems for him at a time when the Democratic Party is grappling with unrest over historical racial inequalities. During the Democratic primary, Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.), now a prospective vice-presidential candidate, took aim at Biden’s history on busing and called his work with pro-segregation senators "hurtful." And while black southern voters helped propel Biden to the nomination, that support could be upended by the protest movement for racial justice sweeping the nation.

Sen. Jacob Javits (R., N.Y.), who introduced the amendment to strike the Dornan rider, argued at the time that segregated private schools "continue routinely to get tax exemption to which under law or morality they are not entitled."

Biden's vote to allow segregated private schools tax-exempt status put him at odds with the American Civil Liberties Union, the Urban League, and the Department of the Treasury at the time.

"Maintaining the Dornan amendments in the Treasury Appropriations bill would be a major blow to civil rights," the ACLU said in a statement at the time.

The Urban League said the Dornan rider "would stymie the first serious attempts by the IRS to enforce the law precluding tax exemptions for private schools which practice racial discrimination."

Opponents of the Javits amendment argued that the IRS would be exceeding its authority by enforcing school desegregation. They said the IRS policy put arduous requirements on private academies to prove they don’t discriminate and could lead to schools being unfairly punished.

The Biden campaign did not respond to a request for comment.

Biden was a vocal opponent of the federal busing policy to desegregate public schools in the 1970s.

Alleged Israeli airstrikes target sites in southern, eastern Syria

Targets belonging to Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias are often struck by airstrikes by unidentified aircraft in the Deir Ezzor area.

Syrian air defense systems were activated in southern and eastern Syria in response to an attack, according to Syria's state news agency SANA. Foreign reports claimed that the attack was an Israeli airstrike.

The attack targeted sites near Kobajjep in the Deir Ezzor region of eastern Syria and near As-Suwayda in southern Syria.

Four Israeli aircraft carried out an airstrike on sites in As-Suwayda, according to Al-Arabiya.

An Iranian arms shipment arrived in the As-Suwayda area on Tuesday morning, according to Al-Arabiya, which added that there were likely deaths in the airstrikes.

Targets belonging to Iranian forces and Iranian-backed militias are often struck by airstrikes by unidentified aircraft in the Deir Ezzor area.

The last airstrike attributed to Israel in Syria was in early June, when at least nine people were killed in alleged Israeli airstrikes targeting Syrian defense factories near the city of Masyaf in northwest Syria, according to Syrian reports.

The airstrikes in Masyaf were conducted by IDF aircraft from over Lebanese airspace, a Syrian military source told SANA.

According to the Step News Agency, the airstrikes targeted four defense factories belonging to the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps in an area where missiles are manufactured. The strikes destroyed munition depots and weapons and targeted sites where surface-to-surface missiles are manufactured, according to SOHR. While the site is run by Syria, Iranian forces are present at the site, SOHR's director told Al-Arabiya.

A site belonging to the Syrian Scientific Studies and Research Center (SSRC) is located in Masyaf and has been targeted by Israeli airstrikes in the past.

The University of Michigan is canceling a previously planned debate between President Donald Trump and his Democratic opponent in the 2020 race, former Vice President Joe Biden, over health concerns amid the COVID-19 pandemic, the Detroit Free Press first reported.

The debate was to be held on Oct. 15.

“Given the scale and complexity of the work we are undertaking to help assure a safe and healthy fall for our students, faculty and staff and limited visitors — and in consideration of the public health guidelines in our state as well as advice from our own experts — we feel it is not feasible for us to safely host the presidential debate as planned,” U of M President Mark Schlissel said in a letter to the Commission on Presidential Debates.
