In the past two weeks, the White House has captured one health care ruling and lost another.

The Trump administration put one in the win column with a court ruling Tuesday upholding its plan to require insurers and hospitals to disclose the actual prices for common tests and procedures in a bid to promote competition and push down costs.

President Trump suffered a major legal setback last week when a federal appeals court ruled that his administration lacks the legal authority to force drug companies to disclose prices in their TV ads.

That had been a part of Trump's overall plan to reduce prescription drug prices that he has been pushing as far back as 2018.

Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf suggested on Tuesday that police officers should be replaced by public employees who can respond to traumatic scenes and other situations she described as unrelated to law enforcement.

"We are excited, as many cities are, to reimagine public safety," Schaaf said during a call with three other mayors and Rep. Karen Bass, D-Calif., "and that means not just to reform the police, but to replace the police with more trauma-informed and care-based, community-led responses that really don't warrant a badge and a gun."

Protesters across America have demanded local governments "defund the police" in response to the deaths of George Floyd and other black Americans at the hands of law enforcement.

It's unclear what any reform will ultimately look like as Bass, a member of the House Judiciary Committee, and others have pushed back on more radical proposals. Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti, who participated in Tuesday's call, have pushed for cuts to police budgets with the funds being transferred to community-based programs.

Former Princeton professor Carol Swain had some scathing words for the newly empowered Black Lives Matter movement and the Democratic Party that has fully embraced the far-left crusade.

Appearing on Fox News’ “Life, Liberty & Levin” last week, Swain, an African-American who has taught at both Princeton and Vanderbilt, described the Black Lives Matter movement as “part of the cultural Marxist agenda against America.”

According to Swain, Democrats “are using black people to advance a radical agenda that will be destructive to our nation, that will hurt all of us. And it’s hurting us right now.”

Swain explained that BLM and the left believe that advancing a narrative of “systemic racism” will help them achieve that goal. She contended that this “false narrative” is being pushed this year because of the election.

“I am an American success story,” she said in explaining why she rejects the presence of “systemic racism” against African-Americans in the United States.

After growing up in poverty, dropping out of school in the eighth grade and having three small children by the age of 20, Swain attended community college, eventually becoming a successful university professor who earned early tenure at Princeton.

Swain informed the audience that she had won “national prizes” and had been “cited by the U.S. Supreme Court” before proudly declaring, “I love America.”

It is a love for America that causes Swain to be especially horrified by the rhetoric and objectives of the Black Lives Matter movement.

“It’s clear that this movement to tear down monuments is really to divide the country,” she said on Fox News. “So we’re all suffering as a result of this political agenda. It will not bring us closer together.”
