Republican Jim Jordan was not impressed with the latest Democrat attempt at a phony impeachment – this time of AG Bill Barr. Former Mueller gang member Aaron Zelinsky spoke in front of Congress and Jordan stopped him cold to the point where Zelinsky was stuttering.

Representative Jim Jordan began the sham hearing noting that the last impeachment didn’t work so they were trying a new one while at the same time the courts were agreeing with actions by AG Bill Barr. Law and Crime reported:

Jim Jordan (R-Ohio), ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee, made a full-throated defense of Attorney General Bill Barr against allegations that Barr has improperly politicized the Department of Justice for the benefit of President Donald Trump and Trump allies, such as Roger Stone and Michael Flynn. Jordan said that Barr isn’t doing the president’s bidding, but is “doing the Lord’s work.”

“They’re not political, they’re just right,” Jordan said of Barr’s DOJ, citing the D.C. Circuit’s Wednesday order for Judge Emmet Sullivan to dismiss the case against Flynn.

“I mean, the very day—you almost have to laugh at this, the very day you have a hearing going after the Barr Justice department and alleging that there’s politics involved there—the very day we get the order from United States Court of Appeals,” Jordan said.

Later in the testimony of Aaron Zelinsky, one from the Mueller gang, Jordan stopped Zelinsky in his tracks. Jordan started by noting that the judge sided with the DOJ and not Zelinsky in regards to the sentencing of Roger Stone, the event that trigged this phony scandal from the Democrats and the Deep State. “Mr. Zelinsky, it seems to me you’ve got one problem – the judge disagreed with you“, Jordan said.

Zelinsky then tried to stammer his way through a response and Jordan asked whether Zelinsky talked to AG Barr about his concerns, which Zelinsky did not. Zelinsky did not talk to the AG, the DAG and he did not talk to the US Attorney about his ‘concerns’. Zelinsky didn’t talk to anyone who made the decisions on the case at the DOJ about his ‘concerns’.

Next when Jordan asked about someone at the DOJ who told him that there were concerns with AG Barr’s actions, Zelinsky got stuck and started to stammer. Zelinsky eventually said that the person that told him about discussions with AG Barr was JP Cooney, who never talked to Barr or the DAG. More hearsay BS.

NYT Poll: Joe Biden Holds 14-Point Lead over President Trump

Joe Biden (D) holds a 14-point lead nationally over President Trump, according to a New York Times/Siena College poll released on Wednesday.

The survey, taken June 17-22 among 1,337 registered voters, showed the Democrat Party’s presumptive nominee leading the president 50 percent to 36 percent. According to the Times, the results serve as a sign that Trump is “the clear underdog right now in his fight for a second term”:

But among a striking cross-section of voters, the distaste for Mr. Trump has deepened as his administration failed to stop a deadly disease that crippled the economy and then as he responded to a wave of racial-justice protests with angry bluster and militaristic threats. The dominant picture that emerges from the poll is of a country ready to reject a president whom a strong majority of voters regard as failing the greatest tests confronting his administration.

The Times’ survey shows the former vice president leading with not just black, Hispanic, and female voters, but “groups that have typically been the backbones of Republican electoral success,” the paper noted.

“About two-fifths of whites over 65 said they disapproved of Mr. Trump’s handling of both the coronavirus and race relations,” the Times added:

Biden, according to the survey, is up 22 percent among female voters, 3 percent among male voters, 74 percent among black voters, and 39 percent among Hispanic voters.

The survey coincides with a Harvard CAPS/Harris Poll survey released this week, showing Biden up 12 points over the president, 56 percent to 44 percent.

However, a recent look at polls in swing states like Wisconsin and Michigan signals positive news for the president. While poll averages tend to show Biden leading in those states, his lead is smaller than margins Hillary Clinton maintained this time in 2016.

The RealClearPolitics’ (RPC) June average, as of Monday, showed Biden leading Trump by eight points in Michigan — 49.8 percent to Trump’s 41.8 percent. The RCP average for June 22, 2016, showed Clinton up by 8.3 percent — 46.3 percent to 38 percent.

A look at Wisconsin’s numbers — comparing RCP’s average from June 22, 2016, t0 June 22, 2020 — tells a similar story, with Biden leading by an average of 5.4 percent. On June 22, 2016, Clinton led by an average of 11 percent.

Pennsylvania appears to stray from the other two states, as the RCP average shows the former vice president up by 5.6 percent. The June 22, 2016, average showed Clinton leading by half a percentage point. However, it should be noted that Trump “far exceeded” Biden in this year’s presidential primary raw vote totals in the Keystone State.

The Times/Sienna College survey has a margin of error +/- 3 percent.

D.C. Appeals Court Prevented Flynn Case from Becoming Next Trump Investigation

The U.S Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit prevented the Michael Flynn case from becoming a new investigation of the Trump administration on Wednesday when it granted a writ of mandamus requiring a lower court to dismiss charges against him.

In the majority opinion for the 2-1 decision, Judge Neomi Rao noted that lower court Judge Emmet Sullivan, who is presiding in the Flynn case, had opened the door to an entirely new investigation by inviting retired judge John Gleeson to file amicus curiae (“friend of the court”) arguments as two why the Department of Justice should not be permitted to drop the case after exculpatory evidence emerged.

Gleeson, Rao observed, had demanded the ability to investigate the Department of Justice, as well as to probe for any new factual information in the case that he deemed relevant:

The district court chose an amicus who had publicly advocated for a full adversarial process. Based on the record before us, the contemplated hearing could require the government to defend its charging decision on two fronts— answering the district court’s inquiries as well as combatting Gleeson’s arguments.

…

And we need not guess if this irregular and searching scrutiny will continue; it already has. On May 15, Gleeson moved for permission to file a brief addressing, among other things, “any additional factual development [he] may need before finalizing [his] argument” and suggesting a briefing and argument schedule. … The district court granted the motion and then set a lengthy briefing schedule and a July 16, 2020, hearing. … In his brief opposing the government’s motion, Gleeson asserted the government’s reasons for dismissal were “pretext” and accused the government of “gross prosecutorial abuse.” … He relied on news stories, tweets, and other facts outside the record to contrast the government’s grounds for dismissal here with its rationales for prosecution in other cases.

These actions foretell not only that the scrutiny will continue but that it may intensify. Among other things, the government may be required to justify its charging decisions, not only in this case, but also in the past or pending cases cited in Gleeson’s brief. Moreover, Gleeson encouraged the district court to scrutinize the government’s view of the strength of its case—a core aspect of the Executive’s charging authority.

In the view of the D.C. Circuit, Gleeson was asking for the power to scrutinize the internal deliberations of the administration. That, Rao implied, was an abuse of power, as well as an affront to the Constitution’s separation of powers.

Unless the decision is appealed to a full panel of the D.C. Circuit, it will end Flynn’s legal saga, which has continued for more than three years.

Flynn was targeted by the outgoing Obama administration, and accused of lying to the FBI even though he was not under investigation, and the agents who questioned him did not believe he had lied at the time.

Tehran, Ankara Probing Deadly Cross-Border Shelling, Iranian Foreign Ministry Says

The authorities of Iran and Turkey are investigating a recent cross-border shelling that resulted in the death of a Turkish serviceman, the Iranian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday.

Commenting on the situation, the Iranian ministry's spokesman, Abbas Mousavi, said that armed clashes had broken out near the border between the Turkish military and terrorists. The diplomat said that he cited Turkish media reports.

"According to the border service of the province of West Azerbaijan, one shell fell on the territory of Iran during the clashes, which, fortunately, did not lead to losses. This incident is being investigated by the border guards of the two countries", Mousavi added.

Earlier in the day, the Turkish Defence Ministry said that one Turkish soldier had died and another one had been injured in the southeastern province of Hakkari during a cross-border shelling from Iran on 23 June.

The incident came after Iraq's Shafaq news agency reported on Wednesday, citing sources in the local administration, that Iranian artillery had shelled a village in the northern province of Erbil in Iraq's Kurdistan Region.

Turkey, meanwhile, is also currently conducting Operation Claw-Tiger in northern Iraq to fight the Kurdistan Workers' Party and the Kurdish People's Protection Units, designated as terrorists by Ankara. Baghdad denounces the operation as an assault on its sovereignty,

‘No Rules About When You Can Make Noise’: Congressional Hearing Goes Off The Rails As Louie Gohmert Refuses To Stop Banging His Desk

Republican Texas Rep. Louie Gohmert refused to stop banging his desk during a House Judiciary Committee hearing Wednesday, arguing that the witness had exceeded his allotted time.

Donald Ayer — a former deputy attorney general under then-President George H.W. Bush and a staunch critic of Attorney General Bill Barr — was a key witness during the hearing. A video on Twitter appears to show Gohmert tapping his desk loudly as Ayer attempts to speak.

“I can’t hear this witness,” Democratic Georgia Rep. Hank Johnson said, as Gohmert continued to make a noticeable tapping noise. “This is a very important witness.”

“Well, he’s way beyond his time, and if there are no rules when people can talk, there’s no rules about when you can make noise,” Gohmert responded. “Either we have rules or we don’t.”

The hearing was scheduled over alleged political interference within the Department of Justice. The key witnesses during the hearing were Ayer and former Attorney General Michael Mukasey, who served under former President George W. Bush.

Rupert Murdoch's NewsCorp Has Apparently Been Integral In Spurring The DOJ's Antitrust Probe Into Google

Rupert Murdoch appears to playing a big part in spurring a Justice Department antitrust suit against Google. He has been one of the most outspoken critics of the internet giant, often while defending his own company, NewsCorp.

NewsCorp has petitioned regulators to look into Google, claiming the company is abusing its power in the $330 billion digital ad market. Most recently, Google made headlines for demonetizing us here at Zero Hedge and those at The Federalist for not censoring the comments sections our respective websites.

Murdoch's efforts appear to be gaining steam, according to Bloomberg. The EU has fined Google for billions and Australia has forced the company to pay for news. In U.S., no material action has taken place - yet.

That appears to be on the cusp of changing, as The Justice Department, led by Attorney General William Barr, is preparing to file an antitrust lawsuit against the company. NewsCorp representatives have met privately with the DOJ about the investigation, sources say.

Last week a trade group headed up by a senior NewsCorp executive published a research paper outlining exactly how Google has taken publishers' content and driven traffic without compensating them. The paper was subsequently sent to the DOJ.

Yale University economist Fiona Scott Morton, one of the paper’s authors said: "The publishers are trying to monetize their content and they only have one choice in how to do that, which is Google. Publishers also compete against Google’s YouTube to sell ad space. When a company depends on its direct competitor for revenue, that’s a problem."

William Barr has been working to rope in Google and its rivals since joining the DOJ in 2019. Last year he opened an inquiry into whether or not they were thwarting their competition and helped shape the investigation. Barr himself also met with Murdoch in NYC late last year, according to the New York Times.

“I think a lot of people wonder how such huge behemoths that now exist in Silicon Valley have taken shape under the nose of the antitrust enforcers,” Barr said in 2019.

LA School Board Votes Down Massive Budget Cut For Police Department

Amid nationwide calls to “defund the police,” the Los Angeles Unified School District (LAUSD) on Tuesday evening denied a trio of police reform proposals, one of which would have cut the district’s police department budget by 90 percent over the next three school years.

After a marathon hearing lasting nearly 12 hours, the LAUSD Board of Education, which administers the second largest public school district in the United States, did not reach consensus on any of the three resolutions.

The most radical measure came from board member Monica Garcia, who called for reducing the LA School Police Department’s (LASPD) budget by 50 percent in the 2021-22 school year, 75 percent in the 2022-23 school year, and 90 percent in the 2023-24 school year. The freed-up funds would be redistributed to the “highest-need schools in support of African American students.”

“Removing police is not going to solve the problem of underfunding of schools or systemic racism,” Garcia said at the hearing. “This is a chance to transition away from police to another safety strategy.”

The other two proposals called for a hiring freeze on the LASPD and the removal of police from campus grounds, while a new committee would conduct a study on whether the district, which serves about 650,000 K-12 students, still needs police.

While Black Lives Matter activists and supporters were rallying outside the meeting and calling on the board to defund the district’s police department, the seven-member board rejected Garcia’s proposal in a 5-2 vote. The other two proposals both failed 4-3.

LASPD Chief Todd Chamberlain said during the hearing that while he acknowledged the demands for police reform, the presence of a police force is essential to campus safety.

“If you take away police … you’re still going to have people victimized,” Chamberlain told the board. “You’ll still have crime and still have an environment that’s not safe.”

LAUSD Superintendent Austin Beutner echoed Chamberlain’s comments, saying at the hearing that although he agrees there is a need to review existing LASPD policies and practices, he doesn’t think removing the police from schools can solve all problems once and for all.

“Those looking for a simple answer will be disappointed because I don’t think one exists,” Beutner told the board. “If the real objective of this conversation is to look at systemic bias, we will have to take a broader perspective because this is about more than school police.”

The 470-member strong LASPD is the largest independent school police department in the United States. Its sworn police officers, civilian school safety officers, and civilian support staff members oversee all school campuses within the district and patrol the surrounding areas. The department runs on a budget of $70 million, or 1 percent of the district’s annual budget.

While this ruling merits attention, the real news is that we now have documentary evidence that President Obama and Vice President Biden were involved directly and personally in orchestrating the entrapment and prosecution of Michael Flynn.

Strzok’s notes believed to be of January 4, 2017, reveal that former President Obama, James Comey, Sally Yates, Joe Biden, and apparently Susan Rice discussed the transcripts of Flynn’s calls and how to proceed against him. Mr. Obama himself directed that “the right people” investigate General Flynn. This caused former FBI Director Comey to acknowledge the obvious: General Flynn’s phone calls with Ambassador Kislyak “appear legit.” According to Strzok’s notes, it appears that Vice President Biden personally raised the idea of the Logan Act. That became an admitted pretext to investigate General Flynn.

So much for disparaging intelligent folk as “conspiracy theorists” for daring to declare that Obama and Biden played a direct and significant role in the plot to destroy the Trump Presidency before it was born. We have it in “black and white.”

All the riots, toppled statues and attacks on American history will not end in the Year Zero the protesters want. It’s going to achieve precisely the opposite, as the silent majority of Americans will show in November.

The silent majority is one of the biggest X factors in American politics. Possibly even the biggest. Not all Americans are the type to shout everything from the high heavens, even though we have a reputation for being brash and loud. Many of us would rather let our actions do the talking than our words.

With the presidential election less than 150 days away, the left needs to reconsider where it’s going and what it’s enabling. And whether it wants the nation to dump Trump, as its supporters say they’re passionate about achieving.

The poll numbers are hardly surprising. Biden tends to range anywhere from 42 to 56, whereas Trump is anywhere from 37 to 48 percent, according to Five Thirty Eight.This is no different to how it was in 2016, when the polls showed Hillary Clinton routinely holding double-digit leads over Trump.

After he won (albeit with a smaller number of votes than Clinton secured), there was a lot of pondering about how exactly the polls got it wrong, and it all came down to the same conclusion: the silent majority. That large swath of Americans who weren’t vocal about who they were going to vote for, but weren’t pleased with how the country was going and let their actions speak for themselves.

During the course of the past four years, the political left in America has learnt zero lessons from their loss in 2016. If anything, they’ve become even less. CNN personality Don Lemon has even gone to bat for Antifa.

There are constant statements in the liberal press that there’s some sort of deep-seated racism that’s inherent to the United States. So much so that the Pulitzer Prize honoring journalism and the arts went to The 1619 Project, a historically inaccurate and easily debunked piece about the history of slavery in the United States. Then came the death of George Floyd.

Since that moment, the Black Lives Matter (BLM) movement has been working to enact a sort of Year Zero, targeting monuments across the country to deface or destroy them. This, of course, comes after the mass riots agitated by Antifa that saw many cities in flames. And then there’s the creation of the CHAZ/CHOP autonomous area in Seattle, which is reportedly about to be shut down by the mayor.

Republicans Demand Pelosi Stop Distribution of Chinese Propaganda on Capitol Hill

Chinese propaganda outlet continues daily delivery to Congress

Republicans are challenging House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D., Calif.) to stop the distribution of Chinese propaganda on Capitol Hill, according to a letter exclusively obtained by the Washington Free Beacon.

Rep. Jim Banks (R., Ind.), a member of the GOP-led China task force, has petitioned the Department of Justice and congressional employees to stop China Daily, a Chinese Communist Party-controlled propaganda outlet, from delivering its papers to the Capitol every morning. Now Banks and four other House Republicans are taking the issue to the very top of House leadership, asking for Pelosi to intervene.

"I assume you are just as outraged as I am by the presence of such disgusting lies in our nation’s legislature," the letter to the House speaker reads. "This is an opportunity for you to … prove to voters the Democrat Party also takes the China threat seriously. It’s time for you to end the proliferation of Chinese-state propaganda in the United States’ Congress."

The letter comes at a time of mounting scrutiny of the activities of Chinese propaganda outlets in the United States. In February, the Chinese government kicked out U.S. journalists reporting on the coronavirus outbreak, prompting the Trump administration to designate Chinese propaganda outlets, including China Daily, as "foreign missions" and demand that they drastically reduce their staff. The new designation requires the outlets to follow the same administrative requirements as embassies and consulates. After China retaliated by expelling even more journalists, the White House required several more Chinese outlets to comply with the regulation on Monday.

China Daily has delivered its papers to the doorsteps of many congressional offices for years now, disseminating a consistently pro-CCP and anti-American viewpoint to hundreds of members of Congress and their staffers. The outlet, for example, has capitalized on recent unrest in American cities stemming from the death of George Floyd to deflect from its own human rights abuses in Hong Kong.

Pelosi's office did not respond to a request for comments.

Prof Cleared Of Racism Charges May Still Resign

UChicago economist Uhlig may leave journal after colleagues' rush to judgement

The University of Chicago's Harald Uhlig may resign from a prominent academic journal even after he was cleared of allegations of racial bias.

Uhlig told the Washington Free Beacon he is considering leaving his position as editor of the prestigious Journal of Political Economy (JPE) after facing calls for his ouster for criticizing the movement to defund the police following George Floyd's death.

"I am happy that I was cleared of the charges at this point and can return to my duties as JPE editor," Uhlig said. "I am still weighing the pros and cons of resigning, taking into account various perspectives."

The professor said the decision will not come easy. He stands by his criticism and says that mob rule could threaten academic neutrality. At the same time, he said he has received about 500 messages calling for his resignation not just from activists, but also colleagues, academics, and even President Obama's former Federal Reserve chair Janet Yellen in the wake of public pressure.

"There are also obvious aspects against me resigning, for example, it endangers the scientific neutrality of the editorial process if editors are too easily removed after a Twitter storm following their execution of free speech," Uhlig said. "Calls for resignation by 500 colleagues … [and] Janet Yellen surely deserves due and careful consideration."

Uhlig was dismissed from his role as an adviser to the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago even before a university investigation cleared him of wrongdoing. Yellen, who did not respond to a request for comment, condemned Uhlig and called on administrators to investigate him in an email to the New York Times.

"The tweets and blog posts by Harald Uhlig are extremely troubling. It would be appropriate for the University of Chicago, which is the publisher of the Journal of Political Economy, to review Uhlig's performance and suitability to continue as editor," Yellen said on June 10. He was fired the next day. Yellen has yet to comment about the investigation's results, nor has she reached out to Uhlig.

The journal temporarily suspended Uhlig to investigate allegations that he made racially insensitive comments during a 2014 lecture. On Monday, the University of Chicago announced that its racial bias investigation found no wrongdoing on Uhlig's part.
