Christopher F. Timmreck is a United States Army veteran who is now in prison serving a life sentence for murder. His story is a clear case of PTSD brought on by combat in a war zone which when the incident happened left someone dead. The incident was not premeditated and all Chris wanted to do was retrieve tools that the victim was supposed to have stored for him at the victims home. The victim had been doing cocaine before Christopher arrived and the victim also was aware Chris was on his way to pick up the tools. When Christopher arrived the victim was in an agitated state that could have been brought on by the cocaine. For those who do not know cocaine has serious side effects of paranoia and aggressive behavior. After a verbal debate the victim told Christopher he had sold his tools.
Christopher was upset about this finding and after the victim slammed the door in Christopher’s face Christopher kicked the door open and took two steps inside. With no intention on killing the victim. The victim then proceeded from around a corner in the hone with a knife. As anyone else would do Christopher defended himself against the attack and at one point even taken the knife and put it down. The Victim continued to try and engage in a fight with Chris and left Chris no choice but to continue defending himself. During this time Chris experiences a blackout state which is a symptom of PTSD to protect the person from any traumatic injury whether it be physically mentally or emotionally. In doing so this renders Christopher of having control over his own thought processes and actions.
Christopher was a victim of our judicial system failing one of our brave veterans. I am not an attorney but after reading the Supreme Court transcript and looking over court files he was not represented by his attorney to the fullest extent. There are many other issues that stick out as well. One major fail was that the trial was held in the same county and area as the victims family. The victim’s family are well known influential business owners in the community and that is grounds for the trial to be held in another location so there would be no conflict of interest. Also during jury selection the State asked if any present were military or had military family members and dismissed them from the jury selection. In doing this they have failed Chris again by making the selection of jurors unable to be considered his peers. Christopher has been in the prison system for 16 years now.
Our judicial system has failed him in so many ways from the judge not allowing certain things into evidence and also his attorneys for not doing their job of representing their client to the fullest extent possible. Also the Gwinnett county jail during his time there before being sent to prison had Christopher in a restraining chair device in the “hole” for three days and was actually tazed by a female guard that was on duty. When Christopher tried to fight this matter in court he lost!!! Please join me in signing this petition to start the journey and process of bringing him home and getting him out of the hell he has been put in by a failing judicial system.
This is only a taste of what is to come as more information unfolds as I build a portfolio of more information to take and present to whoever it takes to free this man! HELP ME GET CHRIS OUT AND BACK HOME WHERE HE BELONGS!!!
