You hit the nail on the head. I have run into several ppl that ask me that same question. They dont buy the "they had to go along with it" explanation. They simply refuse to accept it in any way.
The closest I have come to that is a guy I work with said his daughter tested positive. She never got sick, just lost her sense of smell and taste for a while.
