This is in notables and one of the comments says to use a felt tip pen. These types of pens may "bleed" on paper, going outside the place you mark. It's not a good idea to use anything that may spoil a ballot or by going outside the mark area too much, give an excuse to have someone re-mark the ballot.

Ball point pen, be careful how you mark and fill in the area.

I know of no place I have voted that provides felt type pens. For one, they're kind of expensive vs a ball point and polls aren't likely to be swimming in money to buy them. And they can get messy.

Bring your own, nice, black ink ball point pen.

"Ball point pen, be careful how you mark and fill in the area."

Also, what's on the back? Two-sided ballot?

Always be careful how you mark.

A pen that dents the paper is being used with too much force. But then again, ballot paper should not be flimsy.

If two-sided ballot and felt tip pen mark bleeds through……ballot should not be designed to have marking areas on same place on page. But too much bleed through may "confuse" an optical scanner.

Don't do anything to cause a spoiled ballot.
