Google Promises Less Spying on Users’ Web Browsing, Locations

Google has promised to change the default settings on its services to store less user browser history and location data on its servers. The default setting will only apply to new users — existing users will need to change the settings themselves.

NBC News reports that Google CEO Sundar Pichai announced in a recent blog post that the web giant would be changing the default options on its services, claiming that users’ browsing history and location data would only be stored on Google’s servers for 18 months.

Currently, users have to specifically state that they want their activity data to be deleted by Google, according to Pichai, the firm’s new default options will mean that users’ data is continuously being stored and deleted. “This means your activity data will be automatically and continuously deleted after 18 months, rather than kept until you choose to delete it,” Pichai said.

No changes will be made to existing Google accounts and users who have already turned on their location history in Google settings, but the firm plans to inform existing users of the new option to set up auto-deletion of their data after three to 18 months. Users’ can also opt to have none of their data history stored whatsoever.

The decision from Google comes as many grow wary of Silicon Valley tech giants growing control over user personal data, which Google uses to fuel its extremely lucrative advertising business by allowing advertisers to better target their ads towards consumers based on their personal data.

Privacy advocates have criticized Google for some time for collecting and storing data for much longer than is necessary to operate its services. Breitbart News reported last week that a spyware attack targeted users of Google’s Chrome web browser via browser extensions which received 32 million downloads. Google stated that it removed more than 70 malicious extensions from its Chrome Web Store after researchers at Awake Security alerted them to the issue.

While many of the leftist city and state leaders across our country sit on the sidelines watching our cities burn and our nation’s historical monuments and statues being destroyed by radical Marxist mobs, the time has come to take bold action in prosecuting the violent agitators who have stoked the mayhem. Innocent lives have been lost, minority businesses and livelihoods have been destroyed, and American history is being erased and rewritten in the manner of Stalin and Mao.

The enemies of self-government and friends of anarchy are purpose-driven to accumulate their own power in the chaos. These well-organized, well-funded violent fringe leaders harbor utter contempt for our country’s traditional values, particularly our belief in God, freedom, and our Constitution.

The time has come for the Department of Justice to prosecute the leaders of this national crime wave under the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations (RICO) Act for their coordinated efforts to cause destruction and chaos through all violent means at their disposal, including looting, arson, assault, vandalism, and even murder.

Our nation and our competent leaders must fulfill their primary duty to protect this nation and to ensure that swift justice is served upon all who seek to destroy these United States from within.

On Wednesday, as I watched MSNBC race hustler Al Sharpton, NBC’s Willie Geist, and NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace make horse’s asses of themselves with the claim that a loop tied (in 2019) at the end of a rope used to pull down a garage door was in fact a noose “placed” there to racially terrorize Bubba in 2020 (even though Bubba was randomly assigned that garage for a single race), I thought of my friend and his coloring books.

During the early days of the coronavirus lockdown, a friend of mine told me that if he didn’t find some toilet paper soon, he was eyeing his daughter’s coloring books.

When people desperately need something that is no longer available, they improvise, they invent, they make it up.

When Sharpton, Geist, and Wallace are so desperate to exploit an act of racism that they are willing to look that ridiculous inventing one, what we have here is a demand for racism that far exceeds the supply.

Durable Goods Orders Jump by Most in Six Years

Orders for durable goods made in U.S. factories jumped in May by the most in nearly six years as the economic reopening of America sparked demand.

Orders for durable goods, products meant to last at least three years, rose 15.8 percent from a month earlier, the biggest monthly jump since July 2014, according to Commerce Department data released Thursday.

April witnessed a record-breaking 18.1 percent decline.

Economists had forecast a 10 percent increase.

So-called core capital goods orders, a category that excludes aircraft and defense-industry products, increased 2.3 percent. Economists had forecast a 0.6 percent gain. This is considered a proxy for business investment so the better than expected number suggests confidence in the economic recovery.

Transportation orders were up 80 percent, including a 27.5 percent increase in orders for motor vehicles and parts. Orders for aircraft were up after sharp declines in prior months.

A high school valedictorian from Mount Vernon, New York, has a lot to celebrate throughout her academic career so far, earning up to $430,000 in scholarship money.

But that is not all Ashanti Palmer has to celebrate. According to her high school, the Nellie A. Thornton High School, Palmer has not missed a day of school since preschool.

If you add all those days up, it amounts to more than 4,600 days.

Palmer has also made honor roll every semester since she was in kindergarten.

“Being named valedictorian feels good because it shows that all the hard work I’ve put in over the years has paid off, and that effort is being celebrated in a big way,” Palmer said in a statement.

“In terms of my perfect attendance, it wasn’t something that I sought out. I knew that showing up to school every day was important, because even missing one day can set you back. It wasn’t until 10th grade that I realized I hadn’t missed a day, and then I wanted to keep up the streak,” she added.

The 17-year-old credits her mother and her teachers for her success in her academic career.

“Ashanti’s achievements in the Mount Vernon schools have been nothing short of remarkable,” Dr. Kenneth R. Hamilton, Mount Vernon City School District superintendent, said in a statement. “We strive to ensure our students graduate from here college- and career-ready, and Ashanti is a testament to that goal.”

She also received multiple scholarships, adding up to more than $430,000 to offset the cost of college. Palmer plans to major in biomedical engineering in the fall at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI), where she plans to follow the pre-med track.

BET Founder Robert Johnson: Black People ‘Laugh’ at White People Toppling Statues, Canceling TV Shows

BET Founder Robert Johnson on Wednesday ripped protesters tearing down historical monuments across the United States as “borderline anarchists” and said black Americans “laugh” at White Americans who believe toppling statues and boycotting television programs are what black people truly desire.

Protesters destroying monuments “have the mistaken assumption that black people are sitting around cheering for them saying ‘Oh, my God, look at these white people. They’re doing something so important to us. They’re taking down the statue of a Civil War general who fought for the South,” Johnson, the U.S.’s first black billionaire, said in an interview with Fox News. “You know, black people, in my opinion, black people laugh at white people who do this the same way we laugh at white people who say we got to take off the TV shows.”

“Look, the people who are basically tearing down statues, trying to make a statement are basically borderline anarchists, the way I look at it. They really have no agenda other than the idea we’re going to topple a statue,” Johnson added “It’s not going to give a kid whose parents can’t afford college money to go to college. It’s not going to close the labor gap between what white workers are paid and what black workers are paid. And it’s not going to take people off welfare or food stamps.”

The businessman concluded: It’s “tantamount to rearranging the deck chairs on a racial titanic. It absolutely means nothing.”

Johnson’s remarks come after Black Lives Matter activists, who have taken to the streets to protest the death of George Floyd, have torn down multiple Confederate statues. Monuments of leading American figures such as former Presidents George Washington and Andrew Jackson have also been targeted. On Monday, Washington, D.C. police officers successfully prevented protesters from toppling a statue of Jackson. The Department of Defense has since mobilized hundreds of National Guard troops to provide security for monuments in the nation’s capital.

Hollywood has also bowed to pressure from Black Lives Matter activists by adding trigger warnings and pulling episodes deemed potentially racial insensitive to the left. Namely, HBO Max removed the classic 1939 film Gone with the Wind and intends to restore it with a disclaimer and introduction from university professor Jacqueline Stewart.

NBCUniversal was one of several entertainment powerhouses that were forced to remove episodes of shows featuring characters in blackface. This week, the corporation deleted four 30 Rock episodes with characters in blackface from streaming services.
