Three men arrested for allegedly selling babies on Instagram
Iranian authorities have arrested three men attempting to sell babies online, semi-official ISNA news agency reported Thursday.
A 20-day-old baby and a two-month-old child were rescued from the online infant-selling ring, the news agency said.
Tehran Police Chief Hossein Rahimi said a third baby has been identified but is yet to be found, ISNA reported.
The rescued babies were being advertised on social media platform Instagram, according to the semi-official KhabarOnline website.
One was being advertised for 400 million Iranian Riyals ($9,490), and the other for 500 million Iranian Riyals ($11,800), Rahimi said, according to KhabarOnline.
They were bought from “poor families” — one for 50 million Iranian Riyals ($1,100) and the second for 100 million Iranian Riyals ($2,300) — Rahimi added, according to ISNA.

Cambridge University defended rights of academic to express lawful opinions
The University of Cambridge has spoken out in support of one of its lecturers who was hit by a wave of abusive messages and death threats for tweeting 'White Lives Don't Matter'.
Dr Priyamvada Gopal, 51, who teaches in the Faculty of English at Churchill College, took to the social media platform on Tuesday evening to write: 'I'll say it again. White Lives Don't Matter. As white lives.'
However the controversial message, which has since been deleted by Twitter, was met with a barrage of outrage, with many people responding both publicly and privately with death threats and racist abuse.
A petition titled 'Fire Cambridge Professor for Racism’ was also launched on the petition site change.org on Wednesday demanding that Dr Gopal be fired by the university for the comment.

WikiLeaks Founder Charged in Superseding Indictment
New Allegations Assert Assange Conspired With “Anonymous” Affiliated Hackers, Among Others
A federal grand jury returned a second superseding indictment today charging Julian P. Assange, the founder of WikiLeaks, with offenses that relate to Assange’s alleged role in one of the largest compromises of classified information in the history of the United States.
The new indictment does not add additional counts to the prior 18-count superseding indictment returned against Assange in May 2019. It does, however, broaden the scope of the conspiracy surrounding alleged computer intrusions with which Assange was previously charged. According to the charging document, Assange and others at WikiLeaks recruited and agreed with hackers to commit computer intrusions to benefit WikiLeaks.
Since the early days of WikiLeaks, Assange has spoken at hacking conferences to tout his own history as a “famous teenage hacker in Australia” and to encourage others to hack to obtain information for WikiLeaks. In 2009, for instance, Assange told the Hacking At Random conference that WikiLeaks had obtained nonpublic documents from the Congressional Research Service by exploiting “a small vulnerability” inside the document distribution system of the United States Congress, and then asserted that “[t]his is what any one of you would find if you were actually looking.”
In 2010, Assange gained unauthorized access to a government computer system of a NATO country. In 2012, Assange communicated directly with a leader of the hacking group LulzSec (who by then was cooperating with the FBI), and provided a list of targets for LulzSec to hack. With respect to one target, Assange asked the LulzSec leader to look for (and provide to WikiLeaks) mail and documents, databases and pdfs. In another communication, Assange told the LulzSec leader that the most impactful release of hacked materials would be from the CIA, NSA, or the New York Times. WikiLeaks obtained and published emails from a data breach committed against an American intelligence consulting company by an “Anonymous” and LulzSec-affiliated hacker. According to that hacker, Assange indirectly asked him to spam that victim company again.
In addition, the broadened hacking conspiracy continues to allege that Assange conspired with Army Intelligence Analyst Chelsea Manning to crack a password hash to a classified U.S. Department of Defense computer.

Trump signs executive order to improve U.S. foster care system, strengthen faith-based partnerships
President Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order to improve America's foster care system, calling for officials to strengthen its partnerships with faith-based organizations to place more children in permanent homes.
"This order will help to empower families who answer the call to open their hearts and homes to children who need them," Trump wrote in a statement. "My administration is committed to helping give as many children as possible the stability and support that family provides by dramatically improving our child welfare system."
Even though the number of children in the foster care system and the number of children entering child welfare has declined for the third year in a row, more than 400,000 children are still in the system.

DHS: 95 Percent of Border Crossers Instantly Deported Thanks to CDC’s Title 42 Order
About 95 percent of border crossers apprehended by United States Border Patrol agents are being instantly deported to their native countries thanks to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) Title 42 order.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Commissioner Mark Morgan told lawmakers on Thursday that the CDC order, which gives federal immigration officials broad authority to immediately return border crossers over public health concerns, has been hugely beneficial in reducing illegal immigration. Morgan said:
Early on, after [the CDC] order, we saw those trying to illegally enter our country drop by more than 50 percent from our pre-COVID numbers. Rather than introducing the illegal aliens into our facilities, increasing the exposure risk to our workforce and our country, CBP because of this order is returning approximately 95 percent of those we encounter expeditiously to their country of last transit.
