COIN SHORTAGES, LIFT OF?

Read about the coin shortage (number of articles on line). Allegedly, they are blaming the coin shortage on the virus because people are now "hoarding coins". Banks have to allocate coins. Since most people use debit/credit cards and a large group w/food stamps, I thought the hoarding coins story was b.s.
If we've finally lifted off the hyperinflation launchpad, then it may be that the US Treasury is maneuvering the retail stores to move away from pricing products in fractions of a dollar (cents) and go to whole numbers. Why would anyone price a gallon of milk for 1,000,000,0000,000.59? You wouldn't. There would be no need for coins. I wonder if retailers are being pushed ahead of time to re-price in whole dollars.
The Monetary Base chart shows a major spike in the money supply. Makes me wonder now if the shape of the chart from 2009 to Feb of this year will eventually look like the dust cloud around the space shuttle at lift off.
