This seems to have only been released in my market (AP) on Netflix recently, either that or it has been on the shelf for a while?

Only two seasons?

Anyway, it hits quite a few topics we're generally interested in.

Coup against the US govt,

Asteroid extinction,

aliens

And to top it all off the bad guys are called Q-17, kek (pic related).

I'm always watching for propaganda while enjoying shows like this (it's pretty average though) and it seemed pretty confused at first if that's what they were going for, but the Q-17 was the kicker for me.

That was in S2, so presumably 2018, well in to the age of Q.

My loose theory is that they must have begun production in 2016, maybe worried that there would be fallout from the questionable result of HRC's win (TNEHTL) so crafted a FUD story about a sickly female president (the likely counter narrative at the time) being unfairly targeted and ousted in a fascist coup.

After she lost there was a scramble to save the show (because money after all) and some of their new reality had to be shoehorned in.

Maybe, or it could just be a really badly structured story, but the themes did seem muddled to me.

I don't think you want to put too many barriers in the way of voting. I'm not sure I would want to enrol my fingerprints with a government, it won't always be the one you want after all.

What you need is a cryptographic system on the ballot paper.

Each ballot is signed by a master key so you can verify it is legit, and when the ballots are collated the result is countersigned with your ballot key, so you can verify your ballot was counted (you keep the QR code from the ballot for checking)
