US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo sounded the alarm on Thursday about the possibility of Iran acquiring Chinese and Russian jets if the current arms embargo imposed by the UN security council is not renewed in October.
Speaking via a video conference organised by the German Marshall Fund think tank, Mr Pompeo warned the Europeans about the prospect of the embargo expiring in less than four months.
“In October of this year, the arms embargo will expire. That can’t happen, or the Iranians will be permitted to buy weapons systems," he said.
"They’ll become one of the largest sellers of weapons systems around the world. They’ll be able to buy Chinese jets and Russian jets.
“I can’t imagine that a citizen of Slovenia or Germany or Greece or any other European country would conclude that it was wise to allow the Iranians to have that capability…the United States is going to make sure that doesn’t happen.”

“Dation in Payment:” Avior’s Excuse to Avoid Sanctions
The airline voluntarily handed over a plane to the Maduro regime
Thanks to Avior, Nicolás Maduro’s regime now owns the Airbus with which it can evade international sanctions.
Although the airline claims that this is a “dation in payment,” it is a voluntary handover of the aircraft, which will benefit the regime.
Avior partners confirmed to El Nacional what the PanAm Post had previously reported: “Yes, there is a commercial operation with the regime.”
“A very important tool is being sold to a regime that is sanctioned by the United States,” Luis Suárez, a partner and director of Avior, told the local newspaper, reiterating that the company’s debt is less than the value of the plane.
Suárez’s statements come after Avior Airlines denied that it was negotiating the sale of an Airbus 340-300 aircraft with the Maduro regime. Carmen SofĂa Alfonzo, the company’s communications director, said that they are allegedly only offering the aircraft to the Venezuelan state as part of a debt payment for operational reason

Iran reinforces its military influence over Venezuela. It now conducts courses for Venezuelan military personnel to train them in matters of propaganda and civil war.
The presidential commissioner for foreign relations, Julio Borges, reported that the Nicolás Maduro regime seeks to further control communications between the Venezuelan military and the civilian population.

“We have information that Iranian military advisors conducted courses for the national armed forces of Venezuela (FANB) on propaganda and prolonged civil war. It is part of the efforts that Cuba has already been making to exercise control over the communications of the various commands of the FANB,” Borges said.
