Re: Elmendorf AFB

The quake was on centered on base property, but on the opposite side of the highway from the developed infrastructure.

This area, known as Arctic Valley, is mountain slope, and a small ski area open to the public has been operated there for many years.

The road to the ski area branches off to a gated access to an old Nike missile site called "Summit". The missile site is decommissioned and in ruins, but a couple outbuildings remain that are used to house various telecom/radio/cellular gear, as the site overlooks most of the Anchorage area. Additional shelters have been erected as well. Military, government, and private sector all share a limited space and interference between entities is a big problem here, definitely having the potential to inhibit public safety operations.

From an RFanon with direct knowledge of this location.

The quake was pinpointed next to this access road, after it separates from the ski hill road.

There's a lot more to boycott under the Pepsi umbrella, like Fritos, Doritos, Rold Gold pretzels, and it goes on and on.

Good news is there are good alternatives, just gotta discipline yourself to seek them out.
