One advantage of 5G is beamforming.

 

This means that, unlike older technologies, the energy dissipated by base stations is not emitted in all directions equally (or over an entire sector), but concentrated in the direction of the handset.

 

Compare "phased array" / radar technology.

Strictly speaking, there's less ambient radiation with 5G than with older technologies.

 

But to be honest, it's all pretty much overhyped BS. Each new cellular standard, folks pop up, warning of imminent lethal dangers and what not. Basically fear mongering porn at it's finest.

 

It has reached new extremes with 5G though. We had folks here literally blowing up base stations. BOOM.
