fireworks could be close range communication devices, difficult to trace, but easily identifiable by someone watching and waiting for a signal, similar to drug dealers using car horn honking signals around apartment complexes and small neighborhoods. this time of year fireworks are common after dark nearing the 4th, but I've heard them at all hours over the course of the past few months while out of work. lighting off a roman candle or some similar type of firework (designed for night time display) during the daylight hours doesn't make much sense, especially late morning/early afternoon,. but it could be in many cases people just sitting around with no jobs and loads of stimulus money just getting fucked up and lighting shit off for the hell of it. there's been a significant decrease around my neighborhood lately since local police made repeated announcements on the radio asking people to call them and help pinpoint locations
