Newly Released Email Shows Dirty Cop Peter Strzok Bragging About Pinning Bogus Logan Act Crimes on General Michael Flynn

Another email release shows that dirty cop Peter Strzok from Obama and Comey’s FBI is the one who identified using the Logan Act for the crime to pin on General Michael Flynn.

We reported earlier this week that the Justice Department released Peter Strzok notes from January 4th, 2017 regarding the Flynn-Kislyak calls.

We now know that Obama and Biden were directly involved in the sham Flynn investigation.

Strzok’s newly released notes also suggest a secret meeting in January, 2017, at which time was the reason the Flynn investigation was not closed.

The Strzok notes show then-Vice President Joe Biden wanted to invoke the Logan Act against General Mike Flynn.

Strzok also noted that Obama DIRECTLY ordered an investigation into Flynn, saying “Have the right people on the case.”

Then-FBI Director James Comey said the calls between Flynn and Kislyak “appear legit” but they went ahead with the hit job against Flynn anyway.

“Strzok’s notes believed to be of January 4, 2017, reveal that former President Obama, James Comey, Sally Yates, Joe Biden and apparently Susan Rice discussed the transcripts of Flynn’s calls and how to proceed against him.”

“Mr. Obama himself directed that “the right people” investigate General Flynn.”

The Appeals Court on Wednesday upheld the Justice Department’s request to drop the criminal case against General Flynn.

Europe should brace for a reality in which US is no longer a world power – Merkel

The US may voluntarily relinquish its status as a world power and Europeans must brace themselves for such a contingency, including by boosting their militaries, the German chancellor has warned.

European nations need “to carry more of the burden than during the cold war” in terms of defense spending, Merkel said, because they cannot assume that the US will be there to protect them.

“We grew up in the certain knowledge that the United States wanted to be a world power. Should the US now wish to withdraw from that role of its own free will, we would have to reflect on that very deeply,” she said, in an interview published in six European newspapers.

The German leader stopped short of advocating a joint EU military force, the idea favored by French President Emmanuel Macron. She said she saw the value of NATO capabilities, including the shared nuclear umbrella, in a world of the rising Asian powers China and India.

The French leader has a much more skeptical attitude towards the transatlantic defense bloc. Last year he said NATO was “brain dead.”

Merkel lamented the increasing selfishness of nations today, which, she said, contrasts with the unified multilateral response to the 2008 financial crisis. “These days, we have to do all we can to stop ourselves collapsing into protectionism,” she said.

If Europe wants to be heard, then it needs to set a good example.

Protectionist approaches are at the core of the Trump administration’s foreign policy. Under Trump, Washington pushed for the renegotiation of trade deals that the US president saw as unfavorable to his country. He also dialed up to 11 the criticism of European NATO members like Germany, which fail to meet their military spending obligations, calling them freeloaders. And his administration has made confrontation with China on all fronts a priority, ramping up the pressure on third nations to scare them away from cooperating with Beijing.

Speaking about China, Merkel said its rise “shows that even an undemocratic state can be economically successful, which is a major challenge for our liberal democracies.” This example and other post-cold war developments, from the emergence of the Islamist terrorist threat to the disappointing results of the Arab Spring, are a matter of grave concern for believers in liberal causes like herself.

Minneapolis City Council Members Vote to Disband Police – Then Three Council Members Hire Their Own Private Security for Protection

Earlier this month the Minneapolis City Council unanimously passed a resolution to replace the police with a ‘community-led public safety system.’

The radical left is pushing to “defund the police” following the death of George Floyd.

On Friday the Minneapolis City Council moved to defund the police force and establish a “holistic” public safety force in its place.

The Minneapolis City Council on Friday unanimously approved a proposal to eliminate the city’s police department, marking the first step toward establishing a new “holistic” approach to public safety.

The move follows more than a month of national outrage and protests against police brutality in the wake of the killing of George Floyd, a Black man who died after an officer pressed his knee into his neck for more than eight minutes.

But several of these same council members will still have their own security.

At least three Minneapolis council members have hired private security for their own protection.

Only the poor people will not be protected.

Central Banker Musical Chairs: Fed Exits LBMA Board, Banque de France Joins

For a group famous for its caution in appearing associated with and endorsing gold, Western central bankers seem to have made an exception when it comes to sitting on the board of directors of the world’s largest bullion bank gold cartel, the London Bullion Market Association (LBMA). But maybe that’s the point. Because, if central banks and their proxies are close to the action in the gold market, they will be able to control their interests, as well as influence and control others.

Which may explain why Isabelle Strauss-Kahn, former Market Operations director of the Banque de France (BdF), and formerly at the World Bank and Bank for International Settlements (BIS), is being appointed to the Board of the LBMA as an “Independent” non-executive director, with effect from 1st July. The Banque de France market operations role also included Strauss-Kahn being in charge of the French central bank’s gold and FX reserve management.

Until the Music Stops

In a classic case of musical chairs, Strauss-Kahn’s new appointment comes from a vacancy which has arisen due to the departure from another "Independent" LBMA board non-executive director, former Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) head of FED Markets Group, Simon Potter. Potter had left the Fed in May 2019 and joined the LBMA board just last January.

But although Potter, who was also system open market account manager when at the FRBNY, had a brief stint on the LBMA, it coincided with some memorable gold market action when both the London and COMEX gold markets blew up in the week of 23 March, and when the LBMA and COMEX hit the panic button, rolling out there “nothing to see here” messages for the mainstream media.

The Other Strauss-Khan

Isabelle Strauss-Kahn, who is also a member of the advisory board of the LBMA cheerleading organization, the World Gold Council , additionally has the distinction of being the sister-in-law of the infamous Dominique Strauss-Kahn (DSK) who many people will recognize as former managing director of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) from 2007 until that gig was cut short by his inglorious IMF exit in May 2011. Isabelle’s husband is Marc-Olivier Strauss-Kahn (MOSK), career executive at the Banque de France, and older brother of DSK.

‘More corporate virtue signaling’: Twitter left baffled by Simpsons ban on white actors voicing non-white characters

New ‘woke’ rules on voice casting in ‘The Simpsons’ have triggered a nerve in the online community. People are saying it simply goes against what an actor’s job supposed to be and will also do nothing to combat racism.

“Moving forward, ‘The Simpsons’ will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the long-running show’s producers said in a brief statement.

It did not take much time for critics to hit back at the controversial statement. They said it is only natural for actors to be able to portray different people, including ones with a different ethnic and cultural background.

Many brought up instances in which people of color played white characters, even historical figures, like in the popular musical ‘Hamilton,’ set during the US War of Independence.

“James Earl Jones (a black actor) voiced Darth Vader (excellently). This character was a white man. Is that an issue too?” one person asked, adding that the change is “more corporate virtue signaling that will not do anything to stop actual discrimination and racism.”

A voice actor losing a job because of his or her skin color “sound pretty racist to me,” another wrote.

Some sarcastically asked where the ‘woke’ trend will lead to next, and whether it is now appropriate for English actors to portray characters with an American or Australian accent, or vice versa.

Seattle mayor fails to clear CHOP zone barricades & gives occupiers more time, as city slapped with ANOTHER lawsuit

After a failed bid to remove barricades from Seattle’s protester encampment – in which municipal workers were blocked by demonstrators – the city’s mayor said they will try again Sunday, soon after being hit with another lawsuit.

Friday morning saw protesters at the “Capitol Hill Occupied Protest” (CHOP) stand-off with city workers who'd arrived to clear away street barriers set up around the zone, with one activist seen laying in the road to stop equipment from entering the area. Following the tense interaction and a lengthy meeting with protesters, however, Mayor Jenny Durkan now says the barricades will come down over the weekend.

At the meeting, city officials and activists discussed “the restoration of the Capitol Hill area and long-term changes to transform policing,” Durkan said in a statement, adding that she sought to balance the protester’s First Amendment rights with public safety.

Some of the barricades, however, will remain near the Seattle Police Department’s East Precinct, according to a local report, suggesting the protesters plan to continue demonstrating in the area. It is not clear whether the city has approved that plan.

How We Arrived At The Globalist Calls For A "Great Reset"

The unveiling on June 3rd by the World Economic Forum of ‘The Great Reset‘ agenda appears on the surface to be a newly devised concept created directly in response to Covid-19. As it turns out the first soundings of a ‘reset‘ were actually made as far back as 2014.

To appreciate the significance of the WEF’s intervention, it is important first to recognise the years leading up to 2020 and how they laid the foundations for where we are today.

2014

Each January the WEF host their annual meeting in Davos, Switzerland. In 2014, Christine Lagarde, who was then the managing director of the IMF, called for a ‘reset‘ of monetary policy, the financial sector regulatory environment and structural reforms of global economies.

Lagarde was adamant that a reset was required ‘in the way in which the economy grows around the world‘. Fleshing this out, Lagarde cited the dangers to financial stability due to ‘bubbles developing here and there‘, the over 200 million globally who were unemployed and economic growth being too slow.

Despite these concerns, Lagarde’s view was that fiscal consolidation within national economies was still necessary in order to control spending and ensure the post 2008 ‘recovery‘.

In January 2019 I posted an article that went into detail about the monetary policy aspect of the ‘reset‘ promoted by Lagarde (Monetary Policy ‘Reset’: From Rhetoric to Actuality). I raised how at the time of Lagarde’s intervention the Federal Reserve were tapering their asset purchasing scheme (quantitative easing), introduced in the aftermath of the collapse of Lehman Brothers that triggered the 2008 financial crisis.

Come the end of 2014, the Fed had called a halt entirely to QE. A year later in December 2015, they began to raise interest rates for the first time in over a decade and would later go on to introduce an asset reduction programme where the central bank began to roll off assets from its balance sheet.

For Lagarde, international cooperation would be essential for a reset to succeed. Without nations cooperating, it would likely be fraught with instability and market turbulence. In an interview with Bloomberg at the time of the WEF meeting, Lagarde stressed the importance of the ‘medium term‘ when it came to achieving the reset:

The short term collides with the medium term but the question is to bring the medium term into the personal, political and corporate equation. And that’s the job of the IMF.

2015

Looking back, 2015 was a highly significant year that saw global planners state quite openly their ambitions for a New World Order to be implemented over the next decade and a half.

First came the unveiling of the United Nation’s derived Agenda 2030 in September, and with it seventeen main objectives known as the Sustainable Development Goals. Agenda 2030 was adopted by the 193 members of the UN, with adoption coinciding with the 70th anniversary of the institution’s existence.

‘More idiotic rubbish’: Ryanair trashes UK’s ‘air bridge’ plan, calls for scrapping Covid-19 restrictions

Ryanair, Europe’s biggest low-cost airline, has blasted the UK’s plan to relax anti-coronavirus measures through establishing so-called air bridges with certain countries, calling quarantine altogether “useless.”

The plan will exempt travelers from the mandatory two-week quarantine. A full list of countries is set to be unveiled by the British government next week, and it is expected to include France, Greece and Spain.

While the plan has been designed to help air carriers, hard-hit by the Covid-19 fallout and enduring travel restrictions, the industry has not been very pleased with that limited lifting of anti-coronavirus measures. Ryanair called for scrapping all the restrictions at once instead.

“The UK government’s idea of “air bridges” is more idiotic rubbish from a government who can’t operate a “form filling” quarantine or a track and trace system either,” Ryanair told Bloomberg in a written statement.

Thousands of British families are ignoring this useless quarantine as bookings to Europe from the UK for July and August are flooding into Ryanair.

While the UK was among the last to introduce a mandatory quarantine for air travelers, the move caused a very angry reaction from airlines operating in the country. Early in June, British Airways joined forces with Ryanair and budget airline EasyJet to sue the British government. the air carriers arguing that the restrictions would have a “devastating” effect on the industry and would ultimately result in the decimation of “thousands of jobs.”

The ongoing pandemic, which has infected nearly 10 million people worldwide and killed some 500,000, has hit the aviation industry very hard. Most countries have closed their borders and imposed travel restriction in bids to halt the spread of the disease, bringing passenger flow close to zero.

Despite some countries moving to reopen borders, the industry is not expected to reach pre-coronavirus levels for at least three years. Moreover, the spread has been gaining momentum again in the past few days in a number of countries, namely Brazil and the US, prompting fears of an impending second wave of the pandemic – and the return of restrictions in full force.

Acting DHS Deputy Sec’y Cuccinelli: Trump EO Puts Defunding Localities That Won’t Enforce Law ‘Firmly on the Table’

On Friday’s broadcast of the Fox News Channel’s “Ingraham Angle,” acting Deputy Homeland Security Secretary Ken Cuccinelli stated that President Trump’s executive order on monuments has put withholding federal dollars from local governments that are not enforcing the law “firmly on the table.”

Cuccinelli said, “Whether it’s Washington, D.C., or cities all around the country, you’ve seen federal reinforcements playing a role, whether it’s surveillance that they’re sharing with state and local law enforcement, or whether they’re taking the responsibility on themselves. So, when you go beyond that to some of the federal dollars at stake, you obviously bring a whole new side of this into play, and I can tell you, as a former state legislator, if you want to get state legislator’s and governor’s attentions, talk to them about their pocketbooks. And when they’re busy not enforcing the law, that’s something that is legitimate to bring into play, and President Trump has put it firmly on the table.”

He later added that there have been “enormous” numbers of arrests and there are “a large number of federal investigations going on right now, following up on the violence you’ve seen, the destruction you’ve seen.”

Caitlin Johnstone: Free speech in the US is as illusory as free-range eggs there – neither really exists

America is as authoritarian and intolerant of dissent as any tinpot dictatorship. It generally just goes about quashing it in a subtler, more sophisticated way, aided by a conformist, groupthink mainstream media.

In what Shadowproof’s Kevin Gosztola calls “a not-so-subtle effort to criminalize the journalism of an adversarial media organization that the United States has spent the last decade working to destroy,” WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange has been hit with another superseding indictment by the US Department of Justice.

Shadowproof, WSWS, and Consortium News all have solid and informative write-ups on this new development. The indictment adds no new charges, is riddled with inaccuracies, glaring plot holes, and amateurish errors, relies heavily on testimony from a literal convicted pedophile and diagnosed sociopath, and appears to be little more than a feeble attempt to legitimize the injection of the words “hacking” and “hackers” into the prosecutorial narrative.

To quote Assange’s partner Stella Morris, “They didn’t throw the book at Julian. They threw bits of paper found crumpled up in the discard pile.”

The persecution of Julian Assange is a transparent and iron-fisted attempt by the US government to globally criminalize the publication of leaks which embarrass the US-centralized empire, thereby drawing a firm line which journalists all around the world know never to cross.

This is the inverted totalitarian oligarchic empire at its most overtly tyrannical. The imprisonment of Assange was the part of the movie where the villain finally reveals their true face for the monster they’ve always been, where it became clear to anyone paying attention that the US power alliance is as authoritarian and intolerant of real dissent as any tin pot dictator.

But this is the rarest form of imperial censorship. Normally, wherever possible, the power structures which dominate human civilization prefer to do so out of sight and out of mind, ideally having the inmates of the prison serve as their own wardens.

Aaron Maté, one of my favorite journalists on the planet right now, has an interesting new post on Twitter which reads (emphasis my own): “It’s incredible to see book after book churn out the same discredited Russiagate hype. When I talked to an editor at a major publisher about doing a book — you know, based on actual facts — they told me their friends would be mad at them if they published it, so that was it.”

This is a perfect example of the soft tyranny which does most of the key oppression of speech in the empire today. There are no laws prohibiting the publication of Maté’s award-winning journalism on the subject of the mass psychological operation known as Russiagate. Nobody who published such a book would be tortured and facing a 170-year prison sentence like Julian Assange.

CNN’s Tapper: Trump, Pence ‘Feeding the American People Lies’ About Pandemic

Friday on CNN’s “The Lead,” anchor Jake Tapper accused the Trump administration of lying to the American people about the coronavirus.

Tapper said, “The coronavirus crisis is surge surging in two-thirds of the United States. You might not know that if you listen to the Trump White House, which today minimized the fact that there is a looming disaster in several states. The president and vice president continue to feed the American people lies about the state of this pandemic and their administration’s failures to rise to the moment. This map tells the story. Thirty-two states are battling an increase in cases. Eleven states are flat. Only seven states are showing a decline. With Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert warning today that the United States is at a crossroads and Americans can choose to be part of the problem or part of the solution. Unfortunately, President Trump and Vice President Pence seem to be opting to be part of the problem. Trump is refusing to set an example and wear a mask in public. He continues to hold rallies with no social distancing. Rallies that are veritable Petri dishes. Today at the first coronavirus task force briefing in two months, the vice president made statements to the American people that simply do not square with the facts. Pence insisted that states are opening safely and responsibly when the fact is very few states adhered to the White House’s own guidelines for reopening. Medical data clearly proves that it was a mistake. Then Mr. Pence said this.”

In a clip, Pence said, “The reality is we’re in a much better place with the efforts President Trump mobilized at the federal level. We slowed the spread. We flattened the curve. We saved lives.”

Tapper continued, “Now it’s true that things might be better today than weeks ago when 2,000 Americans were dying from COVID-19 every single day, but the curve has not flattened. The opposite is true. Just look at the chart of new cases. Yesterday, the United States reported more than 37,000 new confirmed infections of the Novel Coronavirus virus. That’s the highest one-day increase ever. And the curve, as you can see on the graph, is rising again. It has been brought down a little, and then it unflattened and is going north. The United States, with less than 5% of the world’s population, has a quarter of the world’s death due to coronavirus per official numbers. It did not have to be this way.”

He added, “There remains no aggressive or effective nationwide surveillance testing and contact tracing program in the United States. Now we’re learning there are divisions within the White House task force about how they proceed with testing program that is in place. To reiterate, the response has not been a success. It has been one of the least successful responses in the entire world. President Trump’s desire for this pandemic to be over does not make it over. In fact, the lies, including the projections we heard today of this false sense of security, these lies could likely make the pandemic even worse.”

MSNBC’s Hayes: ‘Urgent Matter’ of Health and Safety for Trump ‘to Resign’

On Friday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s “All In,” host Chris Hayes said that it’s “an urgent matter of public health, of public safety, at this moment, for the president, Donald Trump, to resign.”

Hayes began by saying, “This moment, we are in the midst of one of the worst governing failures in American history. When all is said and done, it may end up being the worst since the Civil War. There is no country on earth this far into this pandemic that has bungled it this badly. And we need leadership and a leader to get us out of this. But we do not have that leader, we have Donald Trump. And from the very first day, this has been a terrible presidency. From the first moment, the first speech, it has been terrible throughout.”

He later added that President Trump “ignored warnings from his public health experts. That resulted in tens of thousands of preventable deaths. And we’re looking at tens of thousands more. Right now, we are seeing our chance as Americans to get back to some semblance of normalcy, the way other countries have, with work and school and even sports, we’re seeing it slip away because of Donald Trump. We are suffering through the incompetence of a man who took a huge inheritance and squandered it on stupid, glitzy investments and bankrupted his company six times because he was not up to the task. If this presidency had creditors, the virus’ resurgence this week would’ve been a default event. Only it is not his creditors who are suffering, it is us. It is the people who could have survived this virus. It is friends and loved ones in nursing homes, and the people on the front lines and the ones working in meatpacking plants and the ones serving time in prison. It is everyone who has lost a job and every small business that shut down. Things are falling apart because of him. And Republicans know it. But all they do is complain about his tone or they send some passive-aggressive tweets, while professing their loyalty.”

Hayes concluded, “The problem is not his tone. There is not going to be some course correction. Donald Trump does not learn. He is not going to get good at this. He is not going to change. He has failed, definitively. And it is an urgent matter of public health, of public safety, at this moment, for the President, Donald Trump, to resign.”

Third Night of London ‘Street Party’ Riots: Police Seize Firearm, Attacked with Glass Bottles

A firearm was seized and police were attacked with glass bottles in a third night of “street parties” turned riots in London — as Mayor Sadiq Khan announced the Metropolitan Police faces budget cuts.

For the third straight night, chaos and clashes with police were witnessed as people took to the streets of London in street gatherings that are still illegal under the coronavirus lockdown regulation.

Footage shared on social media showed officers being pelted by glass bottles as they tried to disperse a large crowd that had gathered on Harrow Road in West London.

In East London, meanwhile, police responded to reports that a large crowd had converged on the streets of Newham “who were setting up a sound system”. The Newham police said that one man was arrested and a firearm was seized.

After police broke up the rave in Harrow Road another “street party” popped up in Maida Vale, where some 100 police were required to break up the gathering.

“[Police] trying to engage and persuade those attending to disperse, but some bottles and other objects have been thrown at officers,” Sky News reported.

The riots come as the Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Service, Dame Cressida Dick, revealed that in the past three weeks alone some 140 officers have been injured while policing Black Lives Matter protests and the past three nights of rioting.

Some have suggested that the increased willingness to attack police officers may be a result of the lax attitude law enforcement has taken towards policing Black Lives Matter protests across the country and some officers kneeling to protesters undermining their authority.

Virginia’s Department of Health website encourages residents to snitch on people who violate coronavirus restrictions on public gatherings

As Virginia slowly reopens the state after a long period of lockdown, the state’s Department of Public Health is urging residents to report public gatherings and other related activities that violate Democratic Gov. Ralph Northam’s coronavirus restrictions.

As of June 23, Virginia has over 58,000 confirmed cases of COVID-19, including 1,645 deaths. In mid-May, Virginia began the long road to finally reopening the state. Northam had a “phased plan” that allowed some economic activities to resume under each phase. However, many of the restrictions put in place at the beginning of the pandemic were still there.

One of these restrictions was placed on religious institutions such as churches, mosques and synagogues. Under the reopening plan, they will be allowed to hold services if they only operate at no more than 50 percent indoor capacity, and that individuals who attend services practice social distancing regulations by keeping six feet apart from each other when seated.

State’s website encourages snitching

According to the Washington Free Beacon, Virginia’s health department website has been updated to include an option that allows people to anonymously report anybody who isn’t wearing a face mask or exceeds the emergency limits on building capacity. The form even has a drop-down list that allows users to specify what kind of establishment they are reporting. This list includes religious services, which means that Northam is urging Virginians to snitch on their devout neighbors who want to go to church.

Other establishments in the drop-down list include brick and mortar retail stores, restaurants, wineries or breweries, groceries and convenience stores, grooming services, fitness and exercise establishments and indoor gun ranges.

“These complaints can be made anonymously.” said Republican state senator Mark Obenshain. “There is nothing to prevent businesses from snitching on competitors, or to prevent the outright fabrication of reports.”

Pelosi: Trump Is ‘Cowardly’ for Not Wearing Mask

Friday on NPR’s “All Things Considered,” House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) said she agreed with presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden that wearing a mask in public should be mandated on the federal level amid the coronavirus pandemic.

Pelosi referred to President Donald Trump as “cowardly” for not wearing the mask in certain situations.

When asked if she agrees with about Biden making masks mandatory, Pelosi said, “Absolutely. In fact, the reason the CDC hasn’t made it mandatory is because they don’t want to embarrass the president, or insult the president, whatever it is, offend the president. They said they recommend it they didn’t require it.”

She continued, “The president saying this is a hoax, that it magically disappears and not wearing a mask himself as an example to the country, how cowardly is that?”

She added, “I totally agree with Joe Biden. As long as we’re faced with this crisis, masks should be mandatory. It’s not about protecting yourself it’s about protecting others.”

British Royal Air Force Flies Coronavirus Aid to Africa

JOHANNESBURG (AP) — Britain’s Royal Air Force says the first in a series of flights taking coronavirus aid to Africa has departed for Ghana with materials for a field hospital with capacity for nearly 100 people.

NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said in a statement that the UK is the first NATO ally to come forward with an aid flight after NATO agreed to support the United Nations´ appeal for airlift assistance.

The pandemic and travel restrictions have severely affected flights to the African continent and the delivery of crucial cargo including medical supplies.

The UK says up to five flights are needed to deliver the field hospital to Accra. Ghana has more than 15,000 confirmed virus cases.

Alabama has become the latest US state to move to restrict abortions by passing a bill to outlaw the procedure in almost all cases.

The law includes a ban on abortion in cases of rape or incest.

Supporters say they expect the law to be blocked in court but hope that the appeals process will bring it before the Supreme Court.

They want the court, which now has a conservative majority, to overturn the 1973 ruling legalising abortion.

Federal Judge Orders Release of Migrant Children Due to Coronavirus

A U.S District Court judge in the Central District of California ordered the federal government to release migrant children being held in detention for more than 20 days. The order calls for the children to be released by July 17 due to concerns over the coronavirus pandemic.

U.S. District Judge Dolly Gee, appointed to the Central District of California by President Barack Obama in 2009, ruled on Friday that the federal government cannot hold children in U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities for more than 20 days, NBC News reported. Judge Gee cited concerns over the danger posed by the coronavirus pandemic.

The judge gave ICE officials until July 17 to release the children to “non-congregate settings.” Those settings include “suitable sponsors” or the parents of the children. The judge said parents should also be released if conditions warrant their release.

The judge, from her court in California, cited that ICE is unevenly implementing written protocols. She cited COVID-19 infected employees at a Texas facility, and 11 infected detainees at a family detention center in Kansas.

“The matter is now in the hands of ICE, which had 124 children at those facilities in Texas and Pennsylvania as of June 8, the ruling said,” according to NBC News. “The ruling applies only to children, it does not compel ICE to release parents.”

NBC News reported a survey in May that gave parents in detention the choice of having their children released or having them held with the parents in detention centers. NBC said 100 percent of the 366 families surveyed said they would prefer to have their children kept in detention with them.

The judge’s order does not mandate the release of parents and only applies to the children. The impact of the order will force the federal government to separate the children from their parents.

The White House responded calling Judge Gee part of a group of “activist judges,” NBC stated.

“For two and a half years, this Administration has worked to restore faithful enforcement of the laws enacted by Congress, while activist judges have imposed their own vision in the place of those duly enacted laws,” a statement from the White House press secretary reported by NBC said.

West Texas City Refuses to Enforce Governor’s New Coronavirus Order on Bar Closures

Abilene, Texas, officials announced they will not enforce Governor Greg Abbott’s new Coronavirus order, which calls for the closure of bars and reduces allowable restaurant capacity amid an increase in new cases.

Governor Abbott ordered all bars closed effective noon local time Friday, June 26. The executive action also requires restaurants operating at 75 percent capacity to return to 50 percent beginning the following Monday. Outdoor public gatherings will also be capped at 100 and leaves local authorities to decide if capacity may be increased.

Shortly after bars were ordered closed Friday, Abilene City Manager Robert Hanna stated the City will “not enforce the Governor’s Executive Order, but we encourage all business owners and citizens to use common sense, and to follow the Governor’s Executive Orders to the extent they can,” according to a statement published by KCBD.

The city manager urged residents to use common sense in regard to the use of masks and social distancing. The City will not be enforcing a mask rule locally, according to the statement.

“[I]f you choose to wear a mask, wear a mask. If you don’t want to wear a mask, respect those that do and avoid antagonizing folks or standing or walking within six feet of them,” Hanna said.

Abilene officials will rely on the Texas Alcoholic Beverage Commission to enforce the new order on bars.

Ten days ago, Texas was recording an average of 1,200 new cases per day. On Thursday, that figure rose to nearly 5,600.

Hanna clarified that scheduled public events in June and July are expected to proceed as planned, unless local COVID-19 statistics worsen to where the City is forced to issue cancellations. In the meantime, municipal officials will rely on local residents to police themselves.

“Basically, be kind to one another and look out for each other–pretty simple rules to live by,” Hanna added.

A Quarter Of All Personal Income In The US Now Comes From The Government

Following today’s release of the latest Personal Income and Spending data, Wall Street was predictably focused on the changes in these two key series, which showed a record jump in personal spending (to be expected one month after the savings rate in the US hit a whopping 32% annualized), and a record drop in personal income (as government benefits and stimulus checks slowed substantially).

But while the change in the headline data was indeed notable, what was far more remarkable was less followed data showing just how reliant on the US government the population has become.

We are referring, of course, to Personal Current Transfer payments which are essentially government sourced income such as unemployment and emergency benefits, welfare checks, and so on. In May, this number was $5.3 trillion annualized, following the record $6.4 trillion hit last month when the US government activated the money helicopters to avoid a total collapse of the US economy.

And as we concluded last year, “it is not Russia, nor China, nor any other enemy, foreign or domestic, to blame… except for one: the Federal Reserve Bank of the United States.”
