BLM Protesters Storm Beverly Hills Neighborhood: ‘Eat the Rich!’

Police made several arrests after a group of Black Lives Matter protesters marched through a Beverly Hills residential neighborhood Friday night.

“Videos and photographs of the mob flooded social media as they shouted various messages throughout the residential neighborhood and tore down American flags,” the Daily Wire reported.

Human Events Managing Editor Ian Miles Cheong shared footage of protesters shouting “Eat the rich!”:

Later, he tweeted a video of protesters in Los Angeles shouting “No justice, no peace! No racist police!” as they tore down an American flag attached to a building:

In an update on its website at 11:40 p.m., the Beverly Hills Police Department (BHPD) said “An unlawful assembly has been declared in the area of Rexford Drive and Carmelita Ave. BHPD remains on scene.”

Saturday morning, the department tweeted that the unlawful assembly was over and arrests had been made:

Wednesday, President Trump tweeted that it was sad how government leaders in many states had allowed protesters to tear down statues and monuments:

In an executive order issued Friday on protecting America’s memorials and statues, the president said many of the rioters, arsonists, and left-wing extremists who carried out acts against the monuments had identified themselves with ideologies such as Marxism.

He continued:

Anarchists and left-wing extremists have sought to advance a fringe ideology that paints the United States of America as fundamentally unjust and have sought to impose that ideology on Americans through violence and mob intimidation. They have led riots in the streets, burned police vehicles, killed and assaulted government officers as well as business owners defending their property, and even seized an area within one city where law and order gave way to anarchy. During the unrest, innocent citizens also have been harmed and killed.

“My Administration will not allow violent mobs incited by a radical fringe to become the arbiters of the aspects of our history that can be celebrated in public spaces,” the president commented.

“State and local public officials’ abdication of their law enforcement responsibilities in deference to this violent assault must end,” he concluded.

More Adults Than Ever Live With Parents Or Grandparents

An absolutely shocking, new report via Zillow this month estimates 2.7 million adults moved in with a parent or grandparent in March and April as virus pandemic lockdowns crushed the economy.

The Zillow analysis shows 32 million adults lived with a parent or grandparent as of April, or about 10% of the entire population lives in their parent's basement, the highest on record.

Many of those who moved back home in March and April, 2.2 million, were jobless millennials:

Employment and living situations among this young age group are generally the most in flux even in normal times, and the added uncertainty of the pandemic and future employment prospects makes this group even vulnerable to volatile swings in job and housing markets. Normally, the living arrangements of the 18-25 age group is quite seasonal (because of college terms and/or seasonal work), with a smaller share living at home in the spring months than in the summer months: Typically, 53%-to-55% of these adults live at home in April, compared to 55%-to-57% in July. But this April, that share surged as high as 61%, an unprecedented level.

But while students returning home after the nationwide closure of college campuses this spring is undoubtedly driving some of this surge, young adults were overwhelmingly driven back home by the major labor market swing in the wake of COVID-19. The number of employed young adults (aged 18-25) fell by more than 25%, or 5.9 million, in March and April. Roughly 60% of these workers that became unemployed in these months continued to look for employment, but more than 2 million were officially counted as no longer in the labor force. And while recently unemployed young people moved back home at roughly the same rate as usual (about 60% of them typically live with parents) the total number of them is bigger than ever.

Its not just newly jobless young Americans that are moving back home. Before the pandemic, almost half (46.5%) of employed young adults already lived in a parent's home; by this April, the share had risen to 49%. Those who ceased looking for work altogether or were not in the labor force already, including a large number of students, were even more likely to move back home, adding another million-plus young adults to the ranks of homeward-bound movers. - Zillow

The great migration home, more precisely, to their parent's basement, has been a major headache for landlords who now face lost rent. Zillow said Gen Zers who returned home in March and April represent lost rental income of $726 million a month.

The New York Times used Zillow data to show rental market losses by geographic area due to folks moving back home during the pandemic.

Burundi: Ex-president Nkurunziza to be buried in state funeral

Pierre Nkurunziza died at the age of 55 of what the government said was 'heart failure'.

Thousands of Burundians lined the road to the capital, Gitega, on Friday as the body of former president Pierre Nkurunziza was escorted under heavy security for a state funeral after his death earlier this month.

Nkurunziza, who ruled the country for almost 15 years, died at the aged 55 of what the government said was "heart failure".

But speculation is rife he may have caught the coronavirus, as his wife was flown to Nairobi for treatment for the virus just two weeks before his death.

Nkurunziza died shortly after an election won by his handpicked successor Evariste Ndayishimiye, who was sworn in last week.

Friday was declared a national holiday for the funeral. School children in uniform and citizens lined the roads waiting for the funeral convoy to pass.

The stadium in Gitega where the funeral ceremony is to be held was packed with citizens from across the country, all dressed in white at the request of authorities.

Nkurunziza will be buried at a monument recently built in Gitega at the site of another structure which was to be dedicated to victims of the country's various crises over the years, but was never inaugurated.

Nkurunziza, a devout evangelical who believed he was chosen by God to lead Burundi, left behind a deeply isolated country in political and economic turmoil.

His 2015 run for a third term in office sparked protests and a failed coup, with violence leaving at least 1,200 dead while some 400,000 fled the country.

Burundi was plunged into a political crisis in 2015 when Nkurunziza sought a controversial third term in office.

Trump Calls Out Pritzker, Lightfoot for 'Devastating' Chicago Violence

he city of Chicago has become a shooting gallery in recent weeks and Donald Trump has become so concerned that he penned a letter to Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker and Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, criticizing them for a lack of leadership.

While Pritzker has pretty much ignored the carnage on Chicago streets, Lightfoot has come under fire for low morale in the Chicago Police Department and her seeming paralysis over the shootings.

NBC5:

The president said while he has been heartened to see crime reductions nationally the last few years, he has been “horrified by the continued violence in this great American city.”

The letter goes into detail on the city’s violence numbers from the last weekend in May, when more than 80 people were shot and nearly two dozen killed. Last weekend, the numbers climbed even higher, with 104 people shot and 14 killed, including a 3-year-old boy and multiple teens.

“Your lack of leadership on this important issue continues to fail the people you have sworn to protect,” the letter reads. “I am concerned it is another example of your lack of commitment to the vulnerable citizens who are victims of this violence and a lack of respect for the men and women in law enforcement.”

Naturally, Lightfoot cried “racism” and said Trump was using shooting victims to “score cheap political points.”

“As our police officers, street outreach workers and residents continue to work tirelessly to keep our communities safe, he’s using the victims of gun violence in our city to score cheap political points, spew racist rhetoric, and ignore the impact of COVID across this country,” she wrote.

Lightfoot has repeatedly cited the pandemic among the reasons for a rise in violence.

Huh? People stay indoors during a lockdown and the coronavirus is the reason so many are getting shot?

Where does Trump use “racist rhetoric”? Just goes to show you can’t criticize a lesbian black mayor without being called a racist.

Chicago Police Supt. David Brown has repeated the need to keep violent offenders in jail and revamp the home monitoring system, explaining it’s simply not working.

Pritzker has not yet publicly responded to the letter.

Allowing violent offenders out of jail because they might get sick is about the dumbest thing Democratic mayors and governors have done. It’s not just Chicago that’s seen an uptick in violence. Cities across the country are reporting more shootings, more assaults. While no one has bothered to keep stats on released offenders committing crimes, the superintendent’s complaint says a lot about the policy.

Lightfoot tried to blame the federal government for the shootings.

After the city saw one of its deadliest Memorial Day weekends in years, Lightfoot pointed to a lack of federal resources, jail admittance and court hearings during the coronavirus pandemic for making community policing the most difficult she’s seen in more than 20 years.

It’s not rocket science, your honor. People who are violent belong in jail. Virus or no virus, they’re going to do what they do if they’re out on the street. Stop blaming a “lack of federal resources” for acting like a deer in the headlights during this shooting spree.

Mississippi Governor Says Ready to Sign Bill Removing Confederate Emblem From State Flag

The governor of the US state of Mississippi Tate Reeves on Saturday expressed his readiness to sign any bill that passes the legislature proposing to remove the Confederate emblem from the state’s flag.

"The legislature has been deadlocked for days as it considers a new state flag. The argument over the 1894 flag has become as divisive as the flag itself and it’s time to end it. If they send me a bill this weekend, I will sign it", Reeves wrote on Twitter.

Mississippi is the only US state that still features the Confederate emblem on its flag. An ongoing debate to revise the 1894 flag has intensified following a month of civil rights protests in the wake of George Floyd's death in Minneapolis in May.

The US retail corporation Walmart has already stopped displaying the Mississippi state flag in its stores due to the presence of the Confederate emblem, which is commonly seen as a symbol of slavery and racism in the US.

Earlier this week, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper announced that Confederate monuments based on Capitol grounds in the city of Raleigh would be removed in the interests of public safety.

Statues and monuments commemorating notable Confederate personalities, such as famed general Robert E. Lee, have been targeted by civil rights protesters over recent weeks. Six people were arrested in Richmond, Virginia on Friday evening after clashes broke out near a Confederate monument in the city.

Europe On Alert After Unknown Radioactivity Spike Detected Over Baltic Sea

Almost a year ago Russia admitted to releasing significant amounts of radiation into the air that triggered warning alerts in the region of the far north Arctic Circle port cities of Arkhangelsk and Severodvinsk, after a failed weapons test involving a “small-scale nuclear reactor” that killed Russian scientists - which was believed connected to Russia's hypersonics program.

We can't help but recall that incident now with new reports of radiation sensors based in Scandinavia again picking up abnormal radioactivity levels in the air. Perhaps there's some further failed weapons tests happening somewhere in the region?:

"Radiation sensors in Stockholm have detected higher-than-usual but still harmless levels of isotopes produced by nuclear fission, probably from somewhere on or near the Baltic Sea, a body running a worldwide network of the sensors said on Friday," Reuters reports.

The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) confirmed the higher than normal activity.

Its ultra-sensitive networked sensors set up across Europe and the world are capable of picking up nuclear weapons testing when it occurs anywhere around the globe.

As Reuters reports further, the Stockholm monitoring station "detected 3 isotopes; Cs-134, Cs-137 & Ru-103 associated with Nuclear fission at higher than usual levels," according to CTBTO chief Lassina Zerbo, who made the announcement on Friday.

The additional particles were picked up by the sensors last Monday and Tuesday, and confirmed by the nuclear monitoring organization. Zerbo pointed out, however, that it wasn't at levels harmful for human health.

Trans Oregon Official Who Created Mask Exemption for POC Said at Gender Confirmation: 'I Couldn't Wear This Mask One More Day'

Oregon has given us perhaps the most 2020 thing of 2020. The county commissioner who created the exemption to the mandatory mask order for people of color is a trans activist. Her famous quote, while completing “gender confirmation,” was, “I couldn’t wear this mask one more day.”

I’ll need a slide rule to calculate all this intersectionality.

Oregon County Exempts Non-Whites from Mandatory Mask Order

Governor Kate Brown ordered seven counties to mandate masks for all people who visit places open to the public, in further response to the CCP coronavirus pandemic. After Lincoln County, on Oregon’s coast, created an exemption for people of color to the mask order, they received unwanted attention from across America. So they canceled the exemption.

Commissioner Claire Hall told the press,

Initially, a Lincoln County commissioner said the board felt the exemption was the right thing to do due to concerns of racial profiling. It was the of the first counties in the US to exempt people of color from wearing masks to prevent racial profiling.

According to guidance from the Oregon Health Authority, businesses should take into account that requiring people to wear face coverings impacts everyone differently, including people of color who may have heightened concerns about racial profiling.

Commissioner Claire Hall says the county’s received a lot of feedback on both sides of the issue.

“Certainly, we’ve got a lot of very angry white people saying we’re out of our minds and worse,” Hall said. “I’d say our office has heard from at least a dozen people of color. You know one of them said aren’t you aware that the virus disproportionately impacts communities of color? And I said oh yeah absolutely. But also the same people saying that you know they fear an unintended consequence of a well-intentioned policy. Let’s say a person of color comes into our courthouse and chooses not to wear a face covering, they’re actually more likely to be harassed and profiled than if they don’t.”

Oregon GOP Chair Files Second Recall Petition Against Governor, Predicts Success

Then Twitter discovered Claire Hall.
