I'm 27 and the only reason I'm not a rabid leftie is because I was one of the few of my generation that was actually interested in history and have some perspective. Older people have no idea how bad our education system is. It was bad when I left high school a decade ago, it's only gotten several orders of magnitude worse since then. Combined with marxist indoctrination centers ("universities") and a good 2+ generation's minds have been completely ruined by this bullshit. Common Core fuckery didn't start till the tail end of my high school days (2010-ish.) They've essentially completely re-written history since then.
A combination of being taught everything wrong in school, addicting social media and immense social pressure as far as I can see. I don't know much about rural millennials, but in any urban area you essentially have to fit the woke mold or you're excommunicated from society. Non-stupid millennials exist, but we're maybe 20% of the whole age group at best.

Public school teachers usually are in the positions they're in because they want an easy job with decent benefits, not because they have any passion for what they teach or desire to educate the next generation.
