Statue of slave VANDALIZED by far-left extremists
Far-left extremists vandalized a statue of Miguel Cervantes. He is one of the most famous Western authors and known for writing Don Quixote.
Miguel Cervantes was a slave himself and was kidnapped by Ottoman pirates in 1575. He was taken to Algeria and only after 5 years he was set free after ransom money was paid.
A historical fact that is often overlooked is that between the 15th and the middle of the 18th century, there was the Barbary slave trade in which white slaves were kidnapped and sold.
These slave markets occurred on the Barbary coast of North Africa, in modern-day Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and western Libya.
The slave trade was so brutal that a vast number of sea coast towns were abandoned. People from all over Europe were captured and sold as slaves.
Swedish journalist Ivar Arpi commented on the situation, saying that the “culture revolutionaries” don’t care about the fact that Cervantes was himself a slave.
