The "social distancing" was a thing in one particular metro-city suburb long before the KungFlu. Not until experiencing other regions of this Country did I realize how bad it was/is here.
It's "Blue", of course. Same garbage chain conglomerates for shopping "choices", and the independent small businesses had always acted as though they were bestowing the utmost privelege by merely acknowledging your existence. Incredibly, it's managed to deteriorate from THAT!
Don't try pleansantries with neighbors, either, for they'll coil, wondering what it is you NEED out of them. Family is actually worse. WTF is in the water!
First names do NOT exist here, never have, even if seeing the same people or patronizing the same place for over a decade. It will be One-Way if you're accustomed to friendlier environments.
Familiararity seems to be forbidden by the owners/higher-ups of the businesses. Are they afraid of being asked for credits/favors? Who knows, but it's always been the same.
And don't tip big, either, for that guarantees loger waits, cold pizzas, etc. (This was not the case in other areas.)
It's ALL backwards here and has been, and I pray the rest of the country (Midwest, South, smaller, Rural towns …) doesn't "catch up", as THAT'S what the Communists are aiming for.
