Feinstein Calls on DOT to Explain Why California Was Excluded From Infrastructure Grants

“I write to express my disappointment regarding this year’s round of funding for the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America (INFRA) grant program, and I would like to know why no projects in California received funding,” wrote Feinstein

“[F]or Fiscal Years 2017, 2018, and 2019, California projects only received approximately 6% of INFRA funds, and in 2020 did not receive any funding from the program. California is the largest state by vehicle miles traveled, has numerous transportation projects underway, has a large rural population, and has invested in local funding. I believe these qualities make California applicants competitive for INFRA funding, and I would like to know why no projects in California received funding this year.”

In an administrative hearing at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court on 29 June, Assange’s lawyer Mark Summers expressed surprise over the timing of the superseding indictment, as well as the fact that the defence team had learned about it through the press. The indictment had not yet been sent to Assange’s lawyers or the court, and had not been formally entered into the UK proceedings.

The defence stated that they wanted the US extradition hearing to continue as planned; the full hearing is scheduled to resume from 7 September, when three weeks of evidence are expected to be heard. Assange’s next callover hearing is scheduled for 27 July.

Assange continues to be held at the high security Belmarsh prison, where he remains at risk of exposure to Covid-19 - a risk exacerbated by his underlying health concerns, adding urgency to the need for his immediate release. He has been unable to participate remotely in administrative court proceedings for several months, reportedly feeling unwell and having been advised by his doctors that it was unsafe for him to access the prison’s video conferencing facilities.

Former Colorado Judge Pleads Guilty to Obstructing Task Force Investigation of a Drug Trafficking Organization

The task force officer pointed out to Kamada that he was associated with the drug trafficker on social media. As a result, Kamada recused himself from the case. But early the next morning, Kamada called his best friend, Geoffrey Chacon, who had also known the drug trafficker since childhood. Kamada told Chacon that law enforcement was “watching” the drug trafficker’s house, car and phone, and instructed Chacon to “stay away” from the drug trafficker. Chacon subsequently informed the drug trafficker about the warrant and Chacon modified his own behavior in order to avoid law enforcement attention.
