The alleged covid death rate is still below 0.04% in the US.
Most deaths occur in people over 80 years old who have at least one other condition already (in fact, one study out of Italy suggested that ~1/2 deaths had THREE other conditions - https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2020-03-18/99-of-those-who-died-from-virus-had-other-illness-italy-says).
Why does nobody say this on television? Why doesn't Trump push this fact in his twits? Why is this disease being characterized like it's the Black Plague, when it's really just a slightly more menacing cold that is benign to literally 99.9% of us? Why am I the "bad guy" when I mention these fact-based statistics in forums online?
Now Pence is urging people to wear masks, and republican senators are too; is Trump gonna follow suit? Is there a single sane "leader" left?
Anti-mask shaming is becoming intense. But I still think it's fear-mongering.
What has happened to this world that a disease with a 0.04% death rate that almost exclusively kills people who are already very old AND very sick is enough to steer society into panic and bullying, government into coercive measures of en[force]ment, and health "officials" and media into 6 months of constant fear-mongering with no end in sight?
Are republicans pandering to the election now, too?
How does fear-based consensus replace rationality?
