A federal judge in July of 2016 in Washington, D.C., granted a request for Hinckley to leave the mental hospital where he’s resided for decades, to go live full-time with his elderly mother in Williamsburg, Va.

Reagan’s daughter Patti Davis told NPR in a 2016 interview that she thought the “verdict of not guilty by reason of insanity was a bad verdict.” And after the judge’s ruling in July, as Carrie reported, the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation and Institute said “contrary to the judge’s decision, we believe John Hinckley is still a threat to others and we strongly oppose his release.”

Hinckley who is now 65, lives with his mother in Williamsburg, Virginia. The secret service keeps tabs on him. Our tax dollars are paying for this man’s freedom. It’s ridiculous. No one who shoots the President of the United States should ever see the light of day.

“Mr. Hinckley shall abide by all laws, shall not consume alcohol, illegal drugs… shall not possess any firearm, weapon, or ammunition and shall not be arrested for cause,” Senior U.S. District Judge Paul Friedman ordered.

This is an absolute outrage and a disgrace to every single American, and especially to the legacy of the late great President Ronald Reagan.

After Months of Debate, UN Security Council Calls for Global Coronavirus Truce

Resolution calls for 90 day worldwide truce

It took months of revisions and debate, but the UN Security Council finally passed a resolution Wednesday backing an immediate, global ceasefire for the sake of shifting attention to the coronavirus pandemic. It calls for a 90 day “humanitarian pause.”

Russia was previously concerned that the language didn’t allow them to defend themselves in Syria, while the US wanted both language blaming China for the virus, and language clarifying it didn’t apply to various US wars.

That didn’t happen, but the US included a signing statement complaining about language that should’ve been in there emphasizing “transparency,” while China’s own statement criticized the politicization of the process.

Many nations had already endorsed the plan months ago, and agreed to voluntary compliance. This means many of the wars that would be liable to be paused for this already were. There is no reason to think that the US will pause any conflicts.

As virus soars, Netanyahu declares renewed limits on gatherings, prayers, events

Most indoor meetings limited to 20 people, functions and bars to 50; PM says ‘battle will take time,’ vows to unveil new economic package within days to give Israelis ‘safety net’

At a press conference Thursday evening, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced renewed restrictions on public gatherings as coronavirus cases continued their swift rise.

The new limitations, approved by the cabinet earlier, included a limit of up to 20 people at synagogues and other closed spaces including inside homes, and up to 50 people at event halls, bars and clubs. A decision on restaurants was put off for several days amid disagreements between the health and finance ministries.

Netanyahu and Health Minister Yuli Edelstein announced the new measures at a press conference, in which the premier said “the virus is still here, in a big way.”

The challenge is not simple and “the battle will take time,” he said.

“At the current pace, what seems reasonable [numbers] now will turn into tens of thousands of infections. We cannot get there,” he said.

He said he was concerned with keeping the economy going, but that this needed to be done with respect for the virus, comparing the necessary policy to “playing an accordion” — sometimes being opened and sometimes closed.

“We are always looking for the balance between the virus and the economy,” he said.

Netanyahu also said that in the next few days he would announce a six-month financial rescue package to help businesses hurt by the virus closures and to keep them from having to worry about a safety net, and promised he’d make sure the money comes quickly and without bureaucratic hurdles.

“It will provide far more certainty for employment and income… to give a space of time in which you know there is a minimal safety net for businesses, independents, work-seekers.”

Netanyahu said that there had been a 50 percent rise in serious COVID-19 cases since the start of the week, pushing back against those who say there are not many serious cases.

“We need to return to restrictive policies in order to flatten the curve,” he said.

At an earlier meeting of the so-called coronavirus cabinet, a ministerial panel overseeing the country’s pandemic response, the Health Ministry also called for raising the fine for failing to wear face masks, according to reports in Hebrew-language media.

MOSCOW, July 2. /TASS/. Russia supplied arms only to the legitimate government of Afghanistan and not to the Taliban militant group (outlawed in Russia) as the United States claims, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said on Thursday.

"Russia supplied arms only to the legitimate government of Afghanistan, which is well known," the Russian diplomat stressed.

"In this context, it would be appropriate to recall the information that actively circulated in Afghanistan about the US special services’ support for militants of the ISIL [the former name of the Islamic State terrorist organization outlawed in Russia] by those very helicopters without identification signs, about which we spoke at briefings some 18-24 months ago," Zakharova said.

US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo never raised this issue at meetings with Russian colleagues, the spokeswoman pointed out.

Pompeo stated at a press briefing on Wednesday that Russia was acting contrary to the US interests in Afghanistan and had allegedly been supplying small arms to that country for already ten years, which threatened the US military personnel.

The US top diplomat also claimed he had numerously raised this issue during his contacts with the Russian side.

Biden Campaign Outraises Trump For Second Straight Month

Democrat Joe Biden outraised President Donald Trump's re-election campaign for the second straight month and for the second quarter of 2020, figures released Wednesday showed, highlighting robust enthusiasm for the White House challenger.

Biden, the Democratic National Committee and related fundraisers brought in a staggering $141 million in June, the campaign's best fundraising month ever and $10 million more than Trump and the Republican National Committee.

The second quarter of 2020 was a record haul for both campaigns, with Biden coming out on top, $282.1 million against Trump's $266 million for the April-to-June period.

"This haul means for the second consecutive month we have outraised Donald Trump's campaign and demonstrates a surge in grassroots energy to elect Joe Biden," campaign manager Jen O'Malley Dillon said in a statement.

Sixty-eight percent of Biden donors in June, the month he reached the number of delegates needed to become the party's presidential nominee, were first-time contributors, she said.

Trump's campaign reported that it holds a $295 million war chest. Team Biden did not report its cash-on-hand figures, but Trump's campaign said it maintains a "vast" advantage over Biden in cash on hand.

Fundraising typically kicks into high gear in the six months before a presidential election, and the record donations in part reflect robust digital and online fundraising efforts by the campaigns during the coronavirus pandemic.

Biden holds a substantial lead of 9.4 percent over the incumbent in national polling, according to a RealClearPolitics poll aggregation.

Biden also leads in several swing states that helped propel Trump to victory in 2016, including Florida, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.

Trump's approval rating has slid with voters displeased with his handling of the pandemic and the related economic crisis, as well as his response to spirited protests against racial injustice.

Susan Rice Accidentally Proved Barack Obama (Not Trump) Is Guilty of Dereliction of Duty

Despite the fact the allegation that Trump ignored intelligence on alleged Russian bounties on U.S. troops has been debunked, the left is still clinging to the story, hoping it will be their next Trump/Russia collusion hoax. Barack Obama’s former national security adviser Susan Rice recently penned an op-ed in the New York Times, essentially disputing the claims that Trump wasn’t aware of the intelligence. “As a former national security adviser, I find it exceedingly difficult to believe that no one told Mr. Trump about this intelligence,” she claimed.

Here’s what should have happened. Had I, as national security adviser, received even “raw” reporting that Russia was paying to kill U.S. service members, I would have walked straight into the Oval Office to brief the president.

Contrary to the spin-masters in the White House today, I would not have waited until we had absolute certainty. I would have said, “Mr. President, I want to make sure you are aware that we have troubling reporting that Russia is paying the Taliban to kill our forces in Afghanistan. I will work with the intelligence community to ensure the information is solid. In the meantime, I will convene the national security team to get you some options for how to respond to this apparent major escalation in Russia’s hostile actions.”

If later the president decided, as Mr. Trump did, that he wanted to talk with President Vladimir Putin of Russia at least six times over the next several weeks and invite him to join the Group of 7 summit over the objections of our allies, I would have thrown a red flag: “Mr. President, I want to remind you that we believe the Russians are killing American soldiers. This is not the time to hand Putin an olive branch. It’s the time to punish him.”

This is what would have happened in any prior administration of either political party.

According to Rice, “That it apparently did not is deeply troubling and raises myriad questions.”

If Mr. Trump was told about Russian actions, why did he not respond? If he was not told, why not? Are his top advisers utterly incompetent? Are they too scared to deliver bad news to Mr. Trump, particularly about Russia? Is Mr. Trump running a rogue foreign policy utterly divorced from U.S. national interests? If so, why?

Rice’s argument is belied by the facts. The intelligence wasn’t simply “raw” or “unverified.” An “intelligence official with direct knowledge” told Catherine Herridge of CBS News that intel on alleged Russian bounties only reached “low levels” of the NSC but “did not go further” because it was deemed “uncorroborated” and because of “dissent” within the intelligence community regarding its accuracy. The Department of Defense also said there was no corroborating evidence for the Russian bounties claim. An NSC official also told Herridge that a review of Trump’s Presidential Daily Briefings showed that the intelligence assessment about the Russian bounties was not included in them. If the intelligence was disputed and uncorroborated, it seems very unlikely that anyone would have made a point to inform Trump about this intelligence. If presidents were made aware of every bit of disputed and uncorroborated intelligence there was, one can only imagine how little time there would be for anything else.

China Never Reported Existence of Coronavirus to World Health Organization

WHO backtracks on original claim that China self-reported, admits this never happened

Contrary to claims from both Chinese officials and the World Health Organization, China did not report the existence of the coronavirus in late 2019, according to a WHO timeline tracking the spread of the virus. Rather, international health officials discovered the virus through information posted to a U.S. website.

The quiet admission from the international health organization, which posted an "updated" timeline to its website this week, flies in the face of claims from some of its top officials, including WHO director general Tedros Adhanom, who maintained for months that China had informed his organization about the emerging sickness.

China and its allies at the WHO insisted in multiple interviews and press conferences that China came to the health organization with information about the virus. This is now known to be false. The WHO’s backtracking lends credibility to a recent congressional investigation that determined China concealed information about the virus and did not initially inform the WHO, as it was required to do.

The WHO’s updated timeline, posted online this week, now states that officials first learned about the virus on Dec. 31, 2019, through information posted on a U.S. website by doctors working in Wuhan, where the virus first emerged. This contradicts the agency’s initial timeline, which said that China first presented this information at that date.

That initial timeline stated that the "Wuhan Municipal Health Commission, China, reported a cluster of cases of pneumonia in Wuhan, Hubei Province" on Dec. 31.

These claims were carried in numerous American media outlets that relied on the WHO’s inaccurate timeline, including CNN and Axios.

Chinese officials and state-controlled media also claimed for months that the communist regime informed the WHO on or around Dec. 31. In recent days, however, Chinese officials have dropped that talking point.

Rep. Michael McCaul (Texas), lead Republican on the House Foreign Affairs Committee and a member of Congress’s China Task Force, was one of the first lawmakers to expose China’s lies about reporting the virus. An interim congressional report on the virus’s origins published last month first disclosed the fact that the WHO found out about the virus from online postings, not China.

The latest Russia-Gate scandal appears to be rapidly running out of traction as more former and current senior US intelligence officials corroborate US President Donald Trump’s assertions that he was not informed of allegations that Russian military intelligence has been paying the Taliban a bounty to kill NATO forces in Afghanistan – preferably, from the US. Moreover, that he was not informed of the allegations because they were considered unverified and unlikely.

The likelihood of ever getting to the bottom of the allegations becomes less and less probable as they become lost in the swarm of media leaks by anonymous sources, grand posturing by politicians and media pundits seeking to score political points in an election year or simply damage or bolster Trump’s election prospects irrespective of the veracity or otherwise of the allegations, and ongoing domestic social, political and economic firestorms.

On Wednesday, National security adviser Robert O’Brien said in an interview with FOX media outlet that it’s “another false story.”

“The president was not briefed because at the time of these allegations they were uncorroborated. As a result, the president’s career CIA briefer decided not to brief him because it was unverified intelligence, and by the way, she’s an outstanding officer, and knowing all the facts I know, I certainly support her decision.”

He was cited in another media story, making the point that the media and political hype only serves to muddy the waters and make the facts even difficult to verify or refute.

O’Brien said leaks to the media about the episode have hampered U.S. intelligence officials from determining what actually happened.

“Sadly because of the leak, it may now become impossible ever to get to the bottom of this, to get to the truth of the matter, and that’s one of the very sad things,” he said. “We were working very hard on this matter. It might be impossible to get to the bottom of it because someone decided to leak to hurt the president rather than uphold their obligations to the American people.” LINK

Tom Cotton: ‘You can’t trust anything the New York Times Reports on Trump and Russia’

Senator Tom Cotton, R-AR, slammed the New York Times’ for publishing the story that Russia put financial bounties on U.S. troops stationed in Afghanistan, saying the paper can’t be trusted when it comes to “anything” the paper reports “on Russia and Trump,” during an interview with Fox News host Sandra Smith Thursday.

Just a month ago, Cotton published an op-ed in the paper title, “Send In The Troops.” Cotton was referring to the number of violent riots springing up across the country in the wake of the tragic death of George Floyd.

Cotton’s piece received condemnation from a number of the paper’s reporters and caused the editorial editor to be ousted. When it comes to the Times, Cotton knows from recent firsthand experience just how they operate.

“I’m always open to taking a tougher line on Russia. But, the allegations in the New York Times are simply false as they usually are,” Cotton explained to Smith.

Cotton added, “Sandra, what’s regrettable is that someone in the intelligence community or perhaps in a partnered nation’s intelligence community decided to leak partial and incomplete intelligence. Intelligence services often get that kind of partial, incomplete, or conflicting evidence. They don’t always run to the President or to a prime minister to share it with them until it’s verified and corroborated, until then they understand the fuller picture.”

The Trump administration says that the President wasn’t briefed on the matter because there was “strong disagreement inside of our intelligence community about whether or not this intelligence was correct or not,” Cotton explained.

Meanwhile, Senate Democrats are moving to sanction Russia’s President Vladimir Putin over the NYT’s story, citing concerns that Trump’s been soft on Russia. However, Cotton says, “They’re simply using another fake story from the New York Times for political gain.”

Some Conspiracy Theories Are for Real

What is the best way to debunk a conspiracy theory? Call it a conspiracy theory, a label which in and of itself implies disbelief. The only problem with that is there have been many actual conspiracies both historically and currently and many of them are not in the least theoretical in nature. Conspiracies of several kinds brought about American participation in both world wars. And however one feels about President Donald Trump, it must be conceded that he has been the victim of a number of conspiracies, first to deny him the GOP nomination, then to insure that he be defeated in the presidential election, and subsequently to completely delegitimize his presidency.

Prior to Trump there have been numerous conspiracy “theories,” many of which have been quite plausible. The “suicide” of Defense Secretary James Forrestal comes to mind, followed by the assassination of John F. Kennedy, which has been credibly credited to both Cuba and Israel. And then there is 9/11, perhaps the greatest conspiracy theory of all. Israel clearly knew it was coming, witness the Five Dancing Shlomos cavorting and filming themselves in New Jersey as the twin towers went down. Also the Saudis might have played a role in funding and even directing the alleged hijackers. And we have also had the conspiracy by the neocons to fabricate information about Iraq’s WMDs and the ongoing conspiracy by the same players to depict Iran as a threat to the United States.

Given the multiple crises currently being experienced in the United States it is perhaps inevitable that speculation about conspiracies is at its highest level ever. To the average American it is incomprehensible how the country has become so screwed up because the political and economic elite is fundamentally incompetent, so the search for a scapegoat must go on.

There are a number of conspiracy theories about the coronavirus currently making the rounds. Those libertarians and contrarians who choose to believe that the virus is actually a flu being exploited to strip them of their liberties are convinced that many in the government and media have conspired to sell what is essentially a fraud. One such snake oil salesman persists in using an analogy, that since more Americans are killed in automobile accidents than by the coronavirus it would be more appropriate to ban cars than to require the wearing of face masks.

Another theory making the rounds accuses Microsoft multi-billionaire Bill Gates of trying to take over the world’s healthcare system through the introduction of a vaccine to control the coronavirus, which he presumably created in the first place. The fallacy in many of the virus “conspiracies” that relate to a totalitarian regime or a crazy billionaire using a faux disease to generate fear so as to gain control of the citizenry is that it gives far too much credit to any government’s or individual’s ability to pull off a fraud of that magnitude. It would require people a whole lot smarter than the tag team of Trump-Pompeo or even Gates to convince the world and thousands of doctors and scientists that they should lock down entire countries over something completely phony.

Other coronavirus theories include that the virus was developed in the U.S., was exported to China by a traitorous American scientist, weaponized in Wuhan and then unleashed on the West as part of a communist plot to destroy capitalism and democracy. That would mean that we are already at war with China, or at least we should be. Then there is the largely accepted theory that the virus was created in Wuhan and escaped from the lab. Since that time Beijing has been engaging in a cover-up, which is the conspiracy. It is a theme favored by the White House, which has not yet decided what to do about it beyond assigning funny “Yellow Peril” names to the disease so everyone in MAGA hats will have something to chuckle about leading up to the November election.

On July 2, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) repelled a large attack of ISIS terrorists on its positions in the eastern Homs countryside.

According to the UK-based Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, the terrorists clashed with army troops for several hours. Warplanes of the Russian Aerospace Forces (VKS) provided a close air support to the army by targeting nearby ISIS positions.

“Russian warplanes helped repel the attack by carrying out intense airstrikes on the organization’s [ISIS] positions,” the monitoring group’s report reads.

The offensive was apparently launched from the Homs desert, where hundreds of ISIS commanders and fighters are reportedly hiding.

Last week, ISIS terrorists killed two Syrian soldiers and injured a third in eastern Homs. Back then, the VKS responded with a series of airstrikes on the terrorist group’s positions in the Homs desert.

The VKS became highly active against ISIS remnants in central Syria in the last few months. Recent satellite images revealed that several Russian and Syrian warplanes were deployed in Deir Ezzor to support the ongoing operations against ISIS in the region.

July 2, 2020 (Sons of St. Joseph) — On June 28, 2020, Paulist priest Rick Walsh offered “a reflection” entitled “We All Belong to Each Other” at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church in New York City; the parish is the motherhouse of the Paulist order. On June 25, 2020, Walsh also was the “celebrant” for the parish’s Pride Mass sponsored by the Paulist’s LGBT ministry “Out at St. Paul. (OSP)” During his “reflection” Walsh said:

Are they not aware…Christ is a woman…

…Christ is Black

In Christ, I am also Black.

Once you belong to Christ, you belong to all others who belong to Christ as well.

Some say that those of us who are LGBTQ members if Christ’s body do not belong to the body of Christ; totally denying our baptism.

Are they not aware that we who are LGBTQ are also living now in Christ?

That we are Christ.

Christ is lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

In Christ, I am lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer.

Once you belong to Christ, you belong to all others who belong to Christ as well.

Jesuit priest Donal Godfrey once wrote something strangely similar:

If God must become Asian or African, then God is also in some sense queer…Is it less appropriate for gays to imagine Jesus as gay than for African Christians to picture him as black, Asian Christians as Asian?

The “queer-Christ” meme has become a cornerstone of so-called Catholic LGBT ministries.

OSP has a long history of gay-affirmative pastoral practices and public statements in support of same-sex marriage. On May 15, 2018, Out at St. Paul, hosted a “Rooftop Social” at gay sports bar Boxers in Hell’s Kitchen. However, this is not the first time Out at St. Paul has held meetings at gay bars. On March 22, 2017, Out at St. Paul hosted a “Spring Social” at the Hell’s Kitchen gay bar Bottoms Up. Then again, on January 31, 2018, they hosted their “Winter Social” at the Rise gay bar in Hell’s Kitchen. In the past, Out at St. Paul sponsored and promoted “your favorite queer saint,” “countertraditions” to Adam and Eve, and “Christian” theories in support of same-sex marriage.

On June 16, 2018, concerning an article from the gay-periodical “The Advocate,” in which they reported that Pope Francis’s “definition of a family excludes same-sex couples,” Out at St. Paul stated: “Pope Francis is wrong.”
