Just because there's an "off" setting doesn't mean it's off. They give the illusion of your privacy. It's been reported everywhere on Androids in particular that when you turn off location services, it still runs in the background on their system. It's built in the kernel of the os.Off does not mean off. Why trust anything they say?
CPU's are comped. There is no cpu that does not have a memory issue/flaw. So even if you turn off your microphone, they can gain access to any machine. It's pointless to worry about because at this point it is impossible to prevent.
