A staffer for President Trump’s campaign on Friday tweeted a photo of what she called an “improved” Mt. Rushmore — with the commander-in-chief’s image added to the national landmark in South Dakota.
“Mt Rushmore, improved,” read the caption accompanying the post, which was tweeted out Friday morning by Abigail Marone, a member of the campaign’s 2020 rapid response team, according to her Twitter bio.
The tweet came hours before the president and first lady Melania Trump were scheduled to leave Washington to visit the monument — which features huge sculpted images of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln — and view a pre-July 4 fireworks display.
The origin of the doctored image — which shows Trump positioned to Washington’s right — was unclear.
