Question: Why is Maxwell still alive?

The black hats had to know she would spill the beans if captured. After they took out Epstein why didn't they remove her as well? If she had evidence against them, i.e. a dead man payload, that information comes out if she is arrested. Best option for them is to kidnap her, force her to tell how to deactivate any fail-safes and then dispose of her.

My opinion: Maxwell was hung out as bait. How many attempts have we not heard about that the white hats foiled? We will probably never know unless Q chooses to tell us. She was arrested now to up the pressure, make them even more desperate.

Another oddity: If everything we are told about what she knows is true, why the publicity? Shouldn't she be tucked away in some undisclosed location with officialdom saying "no comment'?

Actually the same goes for Epstien. I am of the opinion the white hats already had what they needed from him. Recall how the island wasn't raided until after the computers etc were removed? He was bait to draw out the black hats.

If she was bait they would still have her surrounded they just wouldn't advertise it. Make it look like she was vulnerable when she wasn't, that's the whole point of bait. The worm not only attracts the fish, it also disguises the hook.

Problem with that is if she is arrested all those go off anyway. Leaving her alive just makes their problem worse, not better. The instant Epstien was arrested (before that actually) Maxwell becomes a net liability because there is no way the white hats aren't going to go after her as well, and a live talking person that can point to the defendant and say "S/He did it" is worth more than any records cache.
