Forbes hit piece on QAnon fueled by Media Matters

Yep, the hit pieces are coming out. Media Matters is gearing up to spread their hatred of our movement far and wide. Waaaay off base.

QAnon Is Disrupting America — Every Business Leader Should Be Concerned

A disorganized but growing network of conspiracy theorists and online agitators, collectively referred to as QAnon, is rapidly making its way from the shadows of the internet into mainstream culture. In doing so, QAnon supporters are exploiting the pain and frustration many people are feeling in 2020 to create a new wave of disruption that threatens not only governments, but businesses as well.

QAnon started out as a groundless conspiracy theory centered around an unnamed individual (or individuals) known as “Q.” Purportedly, “Q” started posting anonymous messages on online bulletin boards such 4Chan as early as 2017, claiming to have credentials and top security clearance. These so-called qualifications make the person's cryptic posts about national and worldwide conspiracy theories, referred to as “breadcrumbs” or “drops,” sound credible to QAnon followers.

Among the theories, QAnon claims that former special counsel Robert Mueller was conducting an investigation of former President Barack Obama, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Clinton campaign manager John Podesta and others, for various actions they have taken as part of a global conspiracy. None of the theories have been substantiated, and all have been largely debunked by various media outlets.

Long day. Sorry, forgot the sauce. Here's some more of the article.

But that hasn’t stopped QAnon from gaining traction. The movement, which was once a random assortment of protesters at Trump rallies and other events identified by posters and labels, has gained steam and spread across mainstream social media channels as well. Weaving together multiple conspiracies into a larger meta-conspiracy, QAnon believers are spreading rumors about political figures, health experts, and celebrities. According to progressive research nonprofit organization Media Matters for America, there have also been multiple incidents of QAnon supporters committing violence, including murders and attempted kidnappings.

While that alone is worrying, even more disturbing is that QAnon followers have now broken into national politics, not merely as conspiracy theorists, but as political candidates as well.

Last week, five-term Republican Colorado Congressman Scott Tipton lost to political newcomer and restaurant owner, Lauren Boebert. Setting politics aside, though, what is most concerning is Boebert’s seeming openness to of QAnon conspiracies. In May, Boebert was interviewed on the online show SteelTruth, hosted by QAnon and supported Ann Vendersteel, and she warmly acknowledged her familiarity with QAnon theory, even if she didn’t give it a full-throated endorsement.

"Everything that I've heard of Q, I hope that this is real, because it only means America is getting stronger and better, and people are returning to conservative values, and that's what I am for," Boebert said. "And so everything that I have heard of this movement is only motivating and encouraging and bringing people together stronger, and if this is real, then it could be really great for our country."
