NO JULY 4 FIREWORKS For New Yorkers!

The Macy's July 4 Fireworks over the East River is considered a World Class Fireworks Display, that many New Yorkers love…. but not with Covid-19 this year.

From NBC New York:

"To encourage and support COVID-19 safety and social distancing efforts, and mitigate the advance gathering of large crowds for an extended period of time, we have chosen to delight New Yorkers with unannounced displays across the five boroughs this year," Macy's said.

Bah Humbug! This year, due to the Covid-19, Macy's has cancelled the usual Fireworks along the East River so as to avoid "crowds gathering".

Normally, the Fireworks Spectacular is 25 continuous minutes of awesome Fireworks, set off from 4 or 5 barges on the East River from 34 St. down to 14th St.

Instead, this week it's been a series of 5 minute Pop Up Firework displays at undisclosed locations. One each day in the 5 boroughs.

On Monday, it was on the East River. I was surprised when around 9:45 I heard and saw Fireworks over the East River, but it was short. I thought it was a rehearsal for tonight.

The Finale tonight is supposed to be from the Empire State Bldg., that New Yorkers can watch on TV. meh!
