Wisconsin sets new daily high for positive COVID-19 tests with 738 new confirmed cases but no new deaths

(FOX 9) - Wisconsin has set a new daily high for new positive COVID-19 tests, state officials report.

Saturday, the state reported 738 new cases, the most it has had in one day since the start of the pandemic, surpassing a late May total by five cases.

At the same time, the state did not report any new deaths from COVID-19, as daily death numbers have slowed somewhat in recent weeks. Since the start of the pandemic, Wisconsin has reported 796 deaths.

On May 29, the previous record high for new cases, the state reported 18 new deaths and 71 over the course of four days in late May. In the past week, Wisconsin has seen 30 COVID-19 deaths.

At the same time, the state is seeing fewer hospitalized patients, with currently 235 hospitalized with COVID-19 while 129 await test results. Of those patients, 67 are in the ICU.

Someone is working very hard to dress up Kamala Harris' Wikipedia page, report finds

In a potential sign that California Sen. Kamala Harris may be inching closer to being named former Vice President Joe Biden's running mate, her Wikipedia page has seen a flurry of activity in recent days.

Left-wing website The Intercept notes that Harrisโ€™ page has been edited 408 times in the last three weeks, with most edits coming from one person. The article cited two similar incidents, including one story from The Atlantic in 2016 noting that Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine's Wikipedia page was heavily edited in the weeks leading up to his selection as former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's running mate, and another from The Washington Post in 2008 about Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin's Wikipedia page in the hours before being named Arizona Sen. John McCain's number two.

Wikipedia is often the first place many look to after a vice presidential nominee is named, and The Intercept notes that Harris' page has been edited far more often than some of the other reported top contenders. Former Georgia State Rep. Stacey Abrams had 66 edits in the past three weeks, Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren had 22, and Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar had four.

The user, who goes by the username "Bnguyen1114," has mostly focused on cleaning up portions of Harris' record as California Attorney General that contradict her claims of being a "progressive prosecutor." The editor removed mentions of her decision to not prosecute then-CEO of OneWest Stephen Mnuchin for alleged mortgage fraud-related crimes in 2013 and also removed a section on her support of prosecutors in Orange County who engaged in misconduct. In addition, the editor removed a 2003 quote from Harris when she was running against then-San Francisco District Attorney Terence Hallinan.

โ€œIt is not progressive to be soft on crime,โ€ she said at the time.
