Latvian pagans celebrate midsummer. The following is an English translation of the song they are singing. If you listen carefully you can hear dialect differences in the language, in spite of the fact that Latvia is a small country.
We wish you a happy celebration of Midsummer!
Oaks, oaks,
Your big fat:
The sun was setting for three days,
Could not overflow.
Oaks, oaks,
Your large volume:
Three days partridge flowed,
Could not overflow.
Oaks, oaks,
Your great greatness:
The daughters came singing,
Wreaths branches broken.
Oaks, oaks,
Your great age:
I was born, I found you
I will die you will stay.
Meetings, children of John,
Under a thick oak tree;
Under a large oak tree,
There Jฤnฤซtis place of honor.
