"Something to do with the body releasing an enzyme when you die. It's the reason people who die from heart attacks and are resuscitated frequently die days later (or used to).

It's also the reason they focus on chest compressions during CPR vs breaths because introduction of oxygen during that period can expedite the death spiral post heart attack."

NEGATIVE, GHOST RIDER

They focus on chest compressions because that keeps the heart in Vfib longer- the "shockable" rhythm. A heart in Vfib can be more easily converted back. Asystole heart rhythm (at least in FL) is NOT a shockable rhythm, overall, because the chances of conversion are dramatically LESS.

Chest compressions, by their very name, already compress the lungs. Oxygen is moved through the body automatically with the chest compressions, which pump the heart and thereby the blood. There is no "introduction of oxygen during that period" that is detrimental to the patient, since oxygen is needed by every living person. It does not expedite the death spiral.

Oxygen is 100% need by human beings especially during a heart attack as the heart is already pumping incorrectly, or inefficiently, which automatically means the body is getting less oxygen.
