In looking for something halfway patriotic I ended up watching "Capitol Fourth 2020". It was seriously depressing and dispiriting, the way they played up racism and the phony "second wave", but I noticed a couple of darker things. Brantley Gilbert sang a forgettable song, but the thing that leaped out to me was the purposeful lighting that used the brim of his cap to black out his right eye. Also, he's wearing some kind of pendant but couldn't make out what it was. The other was just plain sickening. John Fogerty started playing "Centerfield" (on a baseball bat guitar no less) surrounded by flags and other US memorabilia, but then they panned out and you could clearly see a "Black Lives Matter" sign stuck on a teddy bear wearing a T-shirt. Absolutely sickening.

Symbols will be their downfall.
